!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I just saw the movie today and I have to say it wasn't THAT bad. There were indeed alot of inconsistencies, but most of the big ones (Vulcan implodes, Spock's mother dies, there's Romulans before the Romulan episode of the show, etc) were explained by the time travel and the altering of the time line. I think the way the universe turns out really does fit how the Star Trek universe would react to the changes made to it. The new actors fit the characters really well, especially Bones and Spock.
BUT... The whole Spock/Uhura subplot is just plain and simple wrong. First of all: there's nothing about such a relationship in any of the previous movies or in any of the shows, and none of the changes made to the timeline could explain it. Second of all: Spock would not be so open about it, he would try to hide it. That's another thing, Spock is too emotional in this movie. The way it is in all of the previous Star Trek stuff is that he's completely logical at first, but over the years of friendship with Kirk and Bones he softens up and gets more emotional. But in this movie, he's too emotional at first.
So all in all, it was an OK movie, but it's got it's issues. 3 out of 5 stars is what I'll give it. Not the best of the Trek movies, but definately not the worst. I think Insurection was the worst.
Swordfight! My cheesy little first game!
