If anyone plays an instrument, please post here! Include a video or a song if possible.

I start:

I play the piano, I have been playing for 10 years, and here is a video : Jolly Roger Bay

I play guitar (from electric to classical, and also including bass guitar), piano, drums, violin, and I can sing (I got a video of me singing 'Beauty School Drop-out' from Grease for my school's musical that I did a little while back, I might post it). Because of my understanding of how instruments function, I believe I can learn pretty much any instrument quite easily, with no actual lessons (Eh, maybe not woodwind or brass as I haven't ever played a wind instrument). I have learned this way for my entire musical life or however you wanna put it

Also, I play a few minor instruments. By minor, I mean, harmonica and things along those lines.

I'll try to get a video up soon. If I do, I do, if I don't, I don't thats how it works lol

Guitar here as well. I have a song or 3, but I'd rather not show off my superlative skills.
I played piano some 10-14 years ago also, then my parents got rid of the piano, and haven't played it since for abscence-related reasons. May get back to that though.

Started to learn piano when I was about seven, and then had jazz tuition until I was 15. I now play bass and I absolutely love it down at the deep end Play guitar as well and have recently started singing again :S

I started learning the electric guitar about a week ago.

I don't want hijack the thread, but the A string on my guitar rattles whenever I play it with a fret pressed down. It sounds like it's hitting the fret. I've tried adjusting my fingers to different positions within any of the frets and tried varying pressure, but it always rattles. However, when I play it open string it doesn't. I don't get this with any other string. I've adjusted the height of the string but to no avail. The guitar is tuned, I tuned it using an electric tuner and double checked it using the manual method i.e. fifth fret on the lower string has the same pitch as the open string.

Any ideas?

I'm getting better at singing, and I've been practicing with a couple of my friends for a band we're forming. I don't have any recording of my singing yet, but here's a practice track we recorded last week. Its the guitarist and drummer, practicing an original song were working on.
We only had one mic, so it sounds a little weird, since that one mic had to go between all the drums, and the guitar.

I'll be playing guitar in about 2 weeks.

83% of women tested found Pus in Boots irresistable. (Based on a survey of 172 women.)

I've been playing guitar for about 4 years. Sometimes I can learn how to play a song just by listening to it, but lately I've found music sheets/chord charts are easier to use. I want to learn piano, but I'm not sure when I can start lessons for such a thing.

I'm getting better at singing, but I'm still finding out what my range is (it's between bass/baritone). I can go a little higher than Middle-C, but not by much.

Sounds awesome! Will you be singing to that?

A lot of you seem to sing... I must admit that I have a terrible deep voice (puberty), so I can not sing at all... Lucky you

I play tuba and bass guitar mostly, although I often mess around on my baritone ukulele, recorder or piano. I used to play trumpet, which I still own, but rarely play. I can also play trombone.

I played trombone and tuba in high school-- it was great. I can play keyboard and some guitar, but not formally trained.

I remember when I was 6 or 7 and taught myself how to read music and memorized how to play The Entertainer on piano with both hands. I still know how to play that one

Drums, although I have no videos I'm afraid, might do a video of a cover soon.

If you see a thread of mine in GDT, please don't expect it to go anywhere.

@TheComet:
Thanks! Yeah, I'll be singing something to that once I write the lyrics. I'm still learning to sing really, Im not quite up to the task of doing a performance or anything yet. I especially like the way our drummer plays; he has a double bass pedal, which sounds awesome.
Check out the attached track. Thats one of the things he played when he tried out to join me and my friends. you can really hear the double bass about 1 minute in.

Lower bass singers are the best! You should sing regardless.

Heh, Jeku, that was the first piece I learnt too. And I can still play it too.

Play guitar badly, play keyboards badly, sing terribly. My voice is quite similar to that of the lead singer from Rooster, only with about half the range, a tenth of the strength and without any control whatsoever.

But it's all good fun at the end of the day.

It could be due to the bridge, the bit next to the hole which the strings go over. I suggest getting it checked at a shop.

I play guitar as well, used to play trumpet and keyboard when I was younger. Probably start on piano again soon.

I used to play piano and violin. (piano 2 years, violin 4 years). I do sing sometimes but my confidence is extreamly bad. Infact, only one person has heard me sing, and she says that I have a very good voice.

If you don't have confidence you really need to work on getting some. Confidence is vital for singing well.

Agreed.

I sing well, but my confidence is lacking. I am aware of this problem and I am fixing it this summer by singing no matter who is around me.

Although people think I can sing well. I acctually, cant sing at all. That was only when I was hyper out in the middle of the woods with my girlfriend (dont get any ideas...). I can try to sing, but I will just freeze and nothing will come out.

Clarinet: 8 years
French Horn: 1 year

I started back up playing the clarinet...my embouchure is utter crap now, I regret that I stopped playing after high school...

Though I'm getting the muscles built back up, and when I get the time, I'll post some compositions.

Not to brag, but I was so good I never needed to use the octave key, I was able to change to 4 different ranges with just my lips.

Kuuhaku Kyuushuu 2...revenge is so much sweeter the second time!

I play the guitar. There's really not much of a difference between the acoustic or electric guitar -- so I don't know why some people are saying "I play the electric guitar." The main difference I've noticed is that, at least most, acoustic guitars only allow access to about the 14th or 15th fret, and the rest of the frets are blocked by the giant body of the guitar. Some electro-acoustic guitars have a cut away like the "normal" electric guitar, but doesn't give you much more frets. I personally like the higher frets on the guitar, makes a nicer sound IMO.

I can play the following pieces of various songs:
Buckethead
Soothsayer - Intro
Soothsayer - Main riff (I think it's the main riff anyways)
Soothsayer - Part of "Solo A"
Nottingham Lace - Main theme
Nottingham Lace - A slower solo in the song
King James - Intro
Somewhere Over the Slaughterhouse - Two random measures in the song
Final Wars - Intro
Final Wars - Large portion of the melody
Big Sur Moon - Intro
Halloween (Movie Theme Song) - Entire Song
This is Halloween (From a nightmare before christmas) - Most of the song
Pure Imagination - First few notes, lol
And some more

Misc.
DragonForce
Through the Fire and Flames - Intro (Just a TINY bit slower than they actually play)
Through the Fire and Flames - VERY small part of the solo
Ozzy
Crazy Train - Intro
Carlos Santana
Black Magic Women - Most of the intro -- I can't play the rest because I need a new high E-string.

As you can tell, I rarely get interested in learning a whole song -- gets too boring after a while.

Cheers,

-naota

The strings on an acoustic guitar are rougher, so it's harder to play them.

I own and play both an acoustic and an electric guitar. If I sang, and I will not embarass myself by trying, I'd probably sound like James Hetfield of Metallica back in the good old days. I can just imagine myself belting out "Obey... your... MAS-TER! MAS-TER!". I also write and record music for the guitar, like with this 15 or so second long thing I recorded last week.

Swordfight! My cheesy little first game!
