Story and real title are yet to be figured out, but here's the gist of the game: There are four buildings to hide in. Two houses, each with an upstairs, and one with a basement. A Satanist church, and a hospital. There are 7 guns and 4 health packs. 7 lives, and of course ininite zombies!

Here's a pick of the church:

Wasnt it possible somehow to set a spawn time after they are killed?
I thought i saw his somewhere.

Like they are dead an then 5 seconds go by and they respawn at the original spawnpoint?

Maybe it was with something else though.

You can set that but it only works on guns... It may work on other entitys but it definately doesnt work on charactors... Thats a problem i ran into a while ago whilst trying to make a zombie mod game.

Here's what I did: After they die, they spawn 0.5 seconds after. I reduced the # of zombies, so the game doesn't lag (there are 3 types of zombies so far) The basic zombie is fast, the dog zombie is faster and the shotgun zombie is immobile. I agree that it doesn't look that good, but that's because I'm not done yet. (You may need to look for light switches, as the houses are pretty dark inside)... Oh yeah, the zombies are really weak health wise. I'll try to put an easter egg in there, featuring Rick Astley and my favored Rabbit Room. (search it, you'll be surprised)

I've used it for characters before? Maybe you were doing something odd with it...

Game looks interesting, but what are the framerates like with so many characters?

Ummmmm... I have no clue what a framerate is (I'm a noob, I know) but it is a bit slow and I'm working on it. I'm using less enemies and disabling the headshots so it goes faster, just gotta test the game now. Also, I put in Bond1s fat zombie for some more flavor. Here's a screenie of some rooftops

wouldnt those things fall of the roof theres no way that would be ever happen the big long wooden block would make the other things holding it up fall and the things that are holding it up wouldnt even be able to set on the ledge like that.

the problem with making zombie survival games on x9, which i have, is that it only takes a few enemies to LAAGGG the game up.
i think that before anyone can make a TRULY good zombie survival game, we need to wait until the x10-x9 migration happens.
but your concept looks good, i recommend waiting and releaseing it when you can have LOADS of zombies.

@shadowfire: but the migration might not be out for another year or tommorrow. Would you wait a year to release a game that you would have to totally remake anyway(with new bugs and such)?

Wow. The latest pic looks weird. That's impossible to the big wooden "barricade" (let's call it that) to stay there. Still I like the church.

It's how many frames per second your game plays. I believe 38 FPS is the cap on the stock FPS Creator. If your game runs at 38FPS, the player and entity movement should appear smooth and realistic.

In test game, the framerate is displayed and updated on the bottom of the screen (FPS: 38). If you're playing a published game, you can press tab to view the framerate in the top left corner.

An idea for weapons for the zombies:

-pistols
-revolver
-maybe reposition a pistol/revolver so they 'club' you with the butt of the gun (like in The Last Stand, which is a flash game, but I'm guessing you'd know what it is)
-Knives

That's about all off the top of my head

Cheers

the funny thing about that is, when you press tab, all the monitoring that starts actually slows down your framerate to about 20 (for me)

and what is wrong with adding more zombies? i thought this was a zombie survival game.

LOL! I always have a max of 19 or 20 fps, even in an empty room! I have a really slow, small, and crappy computer.

My blood pack will have 500 blood overlays some day! I hope...

That's because in addition to your game running, all of those numbers and values have to be updated as well, which takes processing power. But you don't need to press tab to view your framerate in test game It always tells you the framerate on the bottom of the screen when you test the level.

To elaborate on Kravenwolf's description, the frame rate is next to the "F:" in the string of values and letters along the bottom of the screen.

-EDIT-I'm sorry Kravenwolf,I'm a tad bit embarassed now...

Thanks, I'll check the framerate. Yeah, and the wooden beams are random, but the zombies WON'T glitch up there. Reason: there are none up there. It's a sniping position, and also a route that leads you to a gun.

oh yeah, I put in my easter egg. I'm not gona tell you where it is, but its my rabbit room (search it) and Rick Astley doing the Rick Roll

Honestly, I'm not a proffesional game maker, and you WILL be disapointed with this game

only one of my zombies has a gun, and that's Bond1's Brute from mp 22, I made the zombies fast though, so it adds up.

Um, don't think like that. The main part of making games, is keeping yourself satified in what you do. You learn what works, and doesnt work. How do you think pros become pros?

Steroids? Oh...I thought...nevermind, this isn't football.

DestroyerHive,

What exactly constitutes as being a professional game maker, anyway? I have seen some of the...well let's just say I've been shocked at some of the games I've seen selling in stores these days. Everyone has to start somewhere, and as Apple Slicer mentioned, if you're satisfied with your work, then leave it how it is. You'll only get better the more games you make

I can almost guarentee 99% of the members on this forum are self-taught, ametuer designers that have never take a course in game design, or worked for an official development team. But, there are still many games I've played here, that I found to be very fun. And some of those games I've seen appear to be better quality than some commericial game out there.

Thanks, I'm starting another game. This game involves a lot less zombies, but really strong, and an actual story and levels. My inspiration this time is Shellshock 2

...very nice start.

Just a suggestion: Invert the crucified victim in the church, for a little authenticity...

With careful planning, and a creative use of spawning, this could very easily become a very good beer and pretzels shooter...
