My mom said that she was going to send me to a claymation class for a few days and I thought since I wasn't into that stuff anymore I thought why not a gaming class. does any one know of a 3d gaming class for kids under 13 and under $200 and somewhere in the Manchester MD area. That would be a big help thank you.

A gaming class? You mean, a class where you learn how to game?

...

I'm not sure I follow.

Any 3D game-making class for kids under 13 is going to be using a tool like FPSC, because the average person (wrongly) assumes a 12-year old can't program.

Guys, try not to mention your age on these forums.

There are some course I believe for kids, but I wouldn't imagine that there are many 'local' ones.

I know the Torque game engine has classes around and about, but I doubt many of them would be for you (given most of them are at colleges and Universities) - perhaps the K12-schools stuff might have something, I don't know, but it's the best I could think of for game creation classes:

te he. If you were really clever, you would make your own web page, making up a game creation camp near you, and sign up for taht... Then buy a book and a laptop, and whenever your mom brings you over there, just find a closet and have at it.

Why not try and start a club? Nothing stopping you form organizing a small club for tweens to learn game creation. There are plenty of tutorials on this site and others about it. heck, you can download the trail of DB, grab some free models, then follow one of the game concepts on here and try to make something. It would take some planning and some hard work, but if you actually try there's no reason you couldn't do it.

Apparently Water in fpsc is proof that young people can't figure out the difference between thread title and forum name.

That rules dumb I remember when I was 12 on the forums, I didn't give a crap if anyone knew my age. It's not like I am posting my address or phone number.

I do know that there's some deal with Santa Clara University in California, where they have a game making course for teens in high school. Not Dark Basic though. You do get a tour of EA Games during the week though. Only problem is there's a waiting list. And it doesn't help you're on the East Coast.

I once tried to teach my girlfriend to program when she was 12. She seemed to understand it quite well actually.

NOTE: She isn't 12 any more.

NOTE 2: I don't recommend trying this with your girlfriend. I just got lucky with finding one that isn't all interested in girly things like shoes and make-up.

New specs: Nvidia Geforce 9600GS 768MB, AMD Anthlon x64 X2 4000+ (2.6GHz Dual core), 3GB DDR2 800MHz RAM and a big hard drive.
