I'm down with a convention. I thought I'd missed it, too bad there wasn't one. I'll be able to travel so it doesn't matter to me where it is.

It'd be good to hook up with you Cash. I want to talk to you about your eye-patch maker, as I'm thinking about getting one myself.

organise it then! It was in Chichester because Nick organised it and that's where he lived. It was in Leeds when my wife and Rick organised it because it was local. You need a local person to put it together and make it successful.

I would consider organising one down my neck of the woods, since it'd be good experience and may help me with progression in my job. However, I wouldn't do it for 2009. I think we're out of time. Perhaps an early 2010 conventions. I might even be able to use on-site work facilities.

Just randomly thinking at the moment. This isn't a serious offer! And if I did it, it'd be in Hampshire for the reasons BatVink mentioned above.

I warn you, it's a dangerous process

We should all get to work on a better version of Grog the Grueslayer's "Virtual Office" program he was working on. Someone with Green-Ear could lend a hand at voice-speak over the net. Set up a projector that lets you browse for images or videos and it will send them to everyone else to be viewed on the projector screen. Could even have the ability to send executables so if you sat down in front of a virtual computer in the 3D room, you'd browse for the exe, and then anyone wishing to test it would find the computer and have the exe sent to them / automatically launched. It could all be done inside DBP.

Hell you could even incorperate a simple FPS system in another room when people get in the mood to blow each other's brains off.

Could be cool. I'd hop on board as one of the lead programmers if the real-life convention thing doesn't pan out and there are a few other people around willing to lend a hand (I dont have Green Ear for one thing).

Then again it looks like a decent number of people are planning on going already, and the whole virtual thing could get pretty lame pretty fast.

Well, if things go my way I'll either be in afghanistan or japan next yr, so if you expect me to organise it, the best turn out you can hope for is DarkCoder and possibly Puppysss, or Jimmy

I hear it's a nice place this time of year. Just remember to pack your body armour.

I think it'd be best as a map for an existing game.

Athlon64 2.7gHz->OC 3.9gHz, 31C, MSi 9500GT->OC 1gHz core/2gHz memory, 48C, 4Gb DDR2 667, 500Gb Seagate + 80Gb Maxtor + 40Gb Maxtor = 620Gb, XP Home
Air cooled, total cost £160

It only makes sense for someone in a good location in England to do it. I would love to organize one but I think that the showing would be...just me. In fact, is anyone here from Germany?

If there's an official one in 2010, I'll probably go! An unnoficial is impossible to me (I'm in Brazil).

I will probably be able to buy tickets to travel to UK next year, so I could get two nice things at once: To know another country, and to participate in the convention.

I would have gone this year, and I will go next year if there is one. The UK is a great place to visit

I'd probably go.. And I know n3wton would too.. And i'm sure his geeky uni mates would too.. Depending where it was obviously. We live in Yorkshire so if there was another in Leeds we'd be there as quick as you can say... Umm, cake! But yeah - If there isn't one this year, we should all definately work together and organise one for next year.

I'm up for contributing towards the organisational side for a 2010 event if anybody is interested?
