I was recently ravaging through my old PS2 and PS1 game and came across a number of rare games, all which seemed to be a japanese conversion game. I was surprised to find out that if you searched them, the results (especially a PS1 game of mine) would either show no shopping results or show the items but at a high price. So, I thought I'd share the rare games I own here, perhaps someone else would have another game, which would almost be impossible to find . So, I found:

PS2:
-Armored Core 2 (today's price: £12.99)
-Armored Core: Nexus Evolution and Revolution (today's price: £20 or so)
-S.L.A.I: Steel Lancer Arena International (today's price: No idea )

PS1
-Omega Boost (rarest game known, yet brilliant, today's price: £25)

I think I might have more, but I couldn't be bothered to spend hours looking on Google or Ask for their rarity. So, anyone have games rarer than those?

I think Philosoma is fairly rare. I haven't seen it anyplace else except for my cabinet. It was one of the first PS1 games and one heck of a shooter.

Then there's King's Field, a game I played long before Morrowind came out. You could kill every NPC in the game too but nothing would happen and they wouldn't attack you. On the downside of that you could "break" your game by killing someone important...

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

The shop I work at had a Suidoken II priced at £49,99 (about $100 a year ago) for ages but no-one bought it and we sent it to another store.
I have a FFVII in the loft somewhere.

PC:
Final Fantasy VIII - On Amazon £30/40, one seller is selling it at £150

I used to have Final Fantasy VII for the PC, but regretably I sold it, because sadly it goes for between £40 and £70, though when I sold it I got £40 for it, as it was rare at the time too...well, I don't know how 'rare' it has to be to be considered 'rare'.

Other old games I'd have to dig out, we sold our old Amiga 500 not too long ago, I hope my Dad kept the games, some of them might be worth something, Frontier Elite, perhaps?

Well, I have the original diskettes of "PacMan: Adventures in Time".
Also, the FMV game "X-Files", which pretty much is one of the best games I have ever played. This one goes for $6.99 for pc, but a whopping $109 for the PS1.
Also, "The Blair Witch Project: The Rusting Parr" and "Nocturne", both run on the same engine.
And of course "Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis", too bad this one won't run in XP with service pack 2. This one goes for over $59.99 on e-bay.

Edit:
Actually, there are 2 versions of the pac in time game, one was released as a 2d arcade scroller (the one 1 have), the other was released in cd-rom format with 3d graphics. I own the 2d side scroller.

I'm surprised people pay so much for the PC version of a game like that, especially when torrents are so popular for finding hard-to-get classics.

Googling for more info on that.

I paid £20 at the time, I think it's worth the money - FFVII and VIII have a lot of replayability I think, which is why I regret selling FFVII, perhaps I'll pick up a copy again, as surprisingly FFVIII works in Vista quite well, though I haven't tried it yet with Windows 7. I found a guide on getting FFVII working in Vista, so it should run too.

Not sure how rare it is but I had all three discs for FF7... Until my buddy Mike put disc 1 in his desktop's CD drive and it shattered.

Your forgot to include Rare's best game to date with Perfect Dark for the N64 it was amazing. To bad the next gen version flat lined with limited options compared to other newer shooters.

I just looked on ebay for super metroid cause I been wanting to find a copy for awhile and wow do people want some serious money for it. There's a copy on ebay for $200 and somebody actually bid!

Not anymore that it's available for download on PSN.

The rarest games I own are probably my Atari 2600 carts and my almost full set of 3DO games!

I also have The 7th Guest on PC which was well worth the $90 I paid for it in '93.

My buddy has a bunch of classics on floppy disk still---- Epic Pinball, OMF 2097, Doom 2 (!!!), and a bunch of old Sierra games.

I think the oldest game I still have lying around is Shinobi on the Sega MasterSystem, probably not that rare, or useful considering I don't have a MasterSystem to play it on.

Hmm... Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts, Perfect Dark Zero.

Oh wait... Wrong Rare.

Well, to be honest, I don't really have anything that old/rare. I think the oldest game I currently have in my house is Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening for GB.

I have many old games on my shelf that are rare... original boxes of Zork Trilogy with a Zorkmid, Wishbringer with glow in the dark rock, Planetfall with Stellar ID badge, and Ultima 7, Ultima 7 Part 2, Ultima 8 all with cloth maps.

I know all this stuff came with every game but how many people still have them?

For those asking what I meant by rare (in what way), it's basically what you won't find in stores, one of a kind or sells for a ridiculous price compared to other games of its platform . Oh, and I think these are rare ones:

SEGA MegaDrive:

2056 (w/e it was) Phantom
Shadow of the Beast (couldn't find it anywhere lol)
Empire of Steel

Ohh, how could I forget my Lynx!

I must have some rare games on that, probably the rarest is Gauntlet:Third Encounter, where you can play as one of around a dozen characters, including a nerd!...

http://www.mobygames.com/game/gauntlet-the-third-encounter

I have a few classics for the Lynx, maybe 20 games in all including Xybots, Rampage, Paperboy, Ramparts, Cali Games, it's like a Tengen/Atari time-capsule.

Dancing Blocks And Jovial Racer for the NES. Both from the same defunct Taiwanese company. Unlicensed games that I need a special adapter to play. I don't know if they are rare, but I guess they are. The manual of jovial racer is funny, full of grammatical errors and typos. Couldn't find the manual for the other one.

Well, not all that rare titles in my collection, but here goes:

PSX:
Final Fantasy Origins
Final Fantasy Anthology
Final Fantasy VII
(I've got the rest of them as well, but I suppose these would be the "rare" ones)

Panzer Front - I can see why this wasn't mass-produced...

Eagle One: Harrier Attack
Ehrgeiz
(Not sure if these are all that rare, but it was very hard to obtain my copies, I remember)

Hogs of War

PS2
Seems like I'm too mainstream to have any rare titles om here, although I would not have thought that titles like Fantavision and Sky Oddysey would have been very big.

Oh, I see... well, Swedish game shops have a rather restrictive assortement I guess. Most of the time, any title older than a year won't be in stock unless it is extremely popular around here.

I have a tonne of old games. I'd consider my copy or armoured core 2 for the ps2 one of the newer ones

dreamcast shenmue is probably one of my rarest, unfortunately mine isn't in facroty sealed shrinkwrap still or it would be worth silly money (there's a copy of shenmue2 for the DC still sealed at £140 somewhere on google shopping). i also have a megadrive (genisis) and a load of games for it too, some of them are probably rare. The old gameboy pokemon games i have are quite rare too. And i have the legend of zelda links awakening DX version for my gameboy colour.

Old Red Alert box set for the pc with it's 2 addons, that might be fairly rare now. I have my games to play though, not to sell, so i haven't looked at prices for them.

I own Einhander for PS1..supposivly that still goes for over 40 bucks on Amazon.

I also still have my original CD and box/manual for Sim City 2000...a quick search on Amazon shows it's going for $70!? ...oly moly...

Ah, and my most prized game probably is the Warcraft II battle chest...still $100 on Amazon.

Jeku:
I'm curious what 3DO games you have. I also own that expensive black box. My favorite games would have to be Slayer, The Daedalus Encounter(though I could never get past the part where your comrades fall down the shaft and die...), Shockwave and Road Rash....good times...

Ahh, I remember Shenmue, a friend of mine bought a Dreamcast just for that game, that was the only game they ever bought for it but this was back in the day when a game like Shenmue could make you do things like that. I used to have Seaman, I guess that's pretty rare these days, unfortunately I lost it when moving house, no idea where it is now - poor seaman, that horrific mutant fish man who always mocked me. I miss the Dreamcast, always my favorite 'new breed' console.
