My apologies for the lateness of my contribution. I just have to texture and animate the steam armor. the UV map is already done so most of the texture layout is pretty much done. here is a WIP for now.

Thanks for the awsome comments! I couldn't have done it without Nicola's concept art. Her vision for conceptual art is stunning. I tried my best to remain as faithful to it as I could. I'm just glad to help in any way. I only wished I could focus enough on any of my projects enough to accomplish what you and Darth Kiwi has with this project. The website is great and has every catagory filled with goodies. I have always viewed POM as a highly established entity amongst the independant game creation scene and on an even higher echelon amongst the FPSC forum. I'm glad you gave it its own site; it well deserves it.

Okey first I just have to say awesome 3D model Disturbing 13!
Then I'd like to tell small fish how big of a steampunk fan I am and that this game franchise is an awesome idea. I'm currently downloading part 1 and 2 and can't wait to play.

PS. I checked out your website and I think it's pretty good for a first try And the concept art is great your sister is a visionary!

blooming heck guys I'm blushing I don't know what to say first d13 you are awesome yourself your custom models are of an insanely high quality and all your game projects seem creative

and Seerzack I hope you like the games but remember I get better at making games with each one so if you don't like the first one please still try the second also you might need the latest direct x to play which can be downloaded here

Okey I played through the first game and a little bi of the second one. I'd say that your level design has improved from the first game to the second game. One thing that bugs me was that some guns felt underpowerd. Like the bolt action rifle that you start out with in the begining felt really weak for a rifle with a low rate of fire. Also I liked the guns you've made especially for this game much better opposed to the re-textured stock guns. I liked the steampunk feel of the game for example the old footage at the begining of each game and the sound of the trains in the begining of the first game. I'd say the games biggest point goes to the atmospehere of the game. I'm guessing you've read Jules Vernes from the earth to the moon because of the bullet that you travel to mars with

Anyways I would have completed part 2 by now if it wasn't for this bug with the hit (collision not hit) detection for the chains of the boxes over the gap in the second level (see attached image) so I can't jump on the boxes to the other side of the gap. anyone know how to deal with this problem it really annoys me. Thanks in advance.

Except for a few standard bugs here and there and some tweaking that could have ben done to the guns I think you made a good job with these games small fish. Looking forward to part 3.

wait a minute you cant jump on the box's I have never had this problem before so is the cain entity pushing you off because the cain is meant to have no collision so you should be able to walk right though them

The chain is pushing me off like if there is two boxes stacked on top of each other, like the collison detection for the box is the same for the chain. It's kinda weird isn't it? Tomorrow I'll try to replay the entire game and see if that helps.

strange no one has ever mentioned having this problem before if you still get it a second time then I will send you a edited setup file that will make the game start on level 3 so you can see all of the game

Thanks but theres no need. All I had to do was to restart the game from level 1 and then it worked.

The second game was better than the first and I can see that your skills have been improving which only makes me look forward to the third part even more Although I hope to see some more custom made weapons in the future and less stock weapons. It would really make your game stand out a little bit more.

I know this is probably a stupid question but is it possible the create a script that lets you watch a video when you pull a switch because I was hopeing to create video version of the infomatic which could play Martian propaganda I have searched the forum with no luck

Yes it is, in fact, Here is the script that I wrote to do just that. You might want to edit the text part of the script and if I remember right just put your video in the ifused box or something like that. I know the script works, but it has been awhile since I used it for anything. Good luck!

I don't have fpsc open but try dropping down a story zone but have it not spawn at start. then use a lightswitch script to spawn it. that is the best I can come up with. I will try it and see what I come up with.

EDIT: I put down a storyzone then changed the start to appearspawn.fpi, I changed the name to propiganda1. I then set a switch on the wall and had it set for "If Used" to propiganda1. By all means that should have worked but maybe there is something I'm missing. It didn't spawn the staoryzone at all. I don't know if zones are handled differently.

EDIT/EDIT: Ok , I just read something about instead of useing a real zone, placeing an invisible, collisionless entity that can run a zone script. The switch will spawn the entity wich will play the movie. will try and report.

I forgot there was two scripts, sorry. Here they are and they work. I changed only one thing and that was the text and I just made it say "Press Enter".
To make these scripts work you need the storyzone and a dynamic entity. make the storyzone big enough so that while the plr is in the zone he can use the action. The is only one bug though it does not override the ambient music, so I leave that to you. Enjoy!

Here is a little tutorial for you:

Edit: use both of the new scripts.

Greetings starmind, I tried your method in both vanila FPSC as well as PBmod and it worked although after the vid played I was stuck on the spot only able to look around via the mouse. Plus I wasn't able to hit the escape key to get out of the game and had to bring up the task manager. It may be just my comp so I'm wondering if anybody else had this problem.

hmm... I checked it again and I it worked fine. The only problem I had was it would not use the sound from the video and override the level music. I checked this code in both 1.15 and 1.16 with no mods. I do know that if you do not allow for the plr to have room to enter the zone and leave it will cause the plr to freeze. I just press "c" and I was moving again, but it seems that did not work for you. I am using another computer right now so I can't do alot of work to make it better. I would try to write a script that works better for what you need, my script is just something I wrote when I made my star trek game, but I never included it due to the fact I never had the videos done when I released the game. My point being, use my script as a template as I did by using the storyinzone script to make this one. Good luck.

EDIT: Just to show that I am not pulling anyones chain here is the video to my v1.16 no mod test and setup.

thanks for the reply starmind. Conjured had mentioned in a thread elsewhere that a normal switch can be used to spawn an entity; this entity can be collisionless and invisible. It can also perform the functions that a zone can if the player is within a specific distance. I am no scripter so I keep taking stabs in the dark about what I'm doing with a tiny bit of knowlage of what some commands do. Maybe if you could get this type of entity working, the audio problem would be solved.

EDIT:BTW, I never thouhgt you were pulling any chains, in fact it may be just my comp.

works perfectly and don't worry about the lack of sound they can be silent propaganda films which will fit in with the steampunk feel of the game also I don't seem to suffer from the plr freezing glitch.

Yo SF!

I've played the first to POM games now and I'm super excited about this one. It looks totally genius. D13, top work on the new character! It all seems to be coming along very very nicely. You have this steampunk stuff down to the wire. I'm very excited to play!

Keep at it man, it's so cool to see the progression the games have made from the first one.

Peace out

I like your last screen, but I have one thing: That saw would look better (maby, you are teh better designer one) if it was more sharp from the edges. And the guns in these are nice. Except I little bit disliked the unnanimated one in the 1st or 2nd POM. But will they have some nice shaders? Just asking!

Nice job as always!
