Hi, I've just realized that while the majority of you are helpful and understanding to "noobs"(like me), several people are rude and post just to tell people to post somewhere else, and don't even try to answer their questions either. While I realize that they may have posted in the wrong place, (I am fairly certain I didn't post this in the right place but I couldn't find a better place) they are new and probably don't even know where to post their questions. It would be appreciated by a ton of people if these members were more helpful, while at the same time letting them know they posted in the wrong place.

The point is, sometimes the people redirecting you to another board just do not know enough in the subject you are posting about to give you adequate information to answer your question. Therefore, they only tell you it's in the wrong section and that the people there are more suitable to help you. I don't know many members here that would flame you for posting in the wrong section if your sign-up date is less than a month ago. But they will flame you if you continue posting in the wrong section. You must learn what question goes in which category after the first time or flames will ensue.

Do you really think everyone is going to be nice at all times?

That's like expecting world peace.

Not.....
Going.....
To.....
Happen.....

End of story. Get over it. You'll be okay.

Just look at my avatar. It's a grumpy samich. That just shows I'm clearly not going to be nice lol. Just kidding I'm not too mean. But seriously, be realistic about what you're expecting.

I mean when talking to so called "noobs" posting in the wrong place and not trying to be any help, ok? Not in every part of all forums. That would be nice, but as you said: Probably will never happen. It's just I got so pissed off when people purposely posted in my threads telling me I was stupid and only a noob would ask questions I asked. That is why I have no respect for certain members. (Not you, this is the first time I've seen you)

I would really like to see these threads you're talking about. I highly doubt they called you stupid and that only a noob would ask said questions. Unless of course you posted in the wrong boards like 20 times and asked the same question every time, or something along the lines of that.

Signature's are stupid.

Nah, I had i file a couple of years ago but I didn't use FPSC for a while and forgot my username. As I said, I am still kind of a noob at this kind of thing. But yeah, some people said similar things to what I listed. If you find a post by some guy in my general area who hasn't posted in years and sounds like a noob, it's probably me. XD Josh, what the heck was that all about?

I would also like to see one of these threads. I find it very unlikely someone would say such things to you. Unless you post in the FPSC boards... I have no idea what goes on there, but the legends suggest it isn't good...

STFU ZOMG UR sucH A neWb on this forum.

I joke, never would I dream of using such retarded language. Take things lightly, some people in the world are ruder than others, it's not worth worrying about because you're not going to change them.

Also, as an Englishman, I am automatically offended by anybody uneducated in the classics of British humour and by this I refer to Monty Python.

Of course I kid, but Josh was making a reference.

It's in the FPSC section and it was an old account i forgot about for a year or so. And it's not a bunch of people, just 9 or ten that I've seen around the forums.

... I can't show where exactly but look around for new members asking simple questions and about a fourth of the time somebody will discourage them. Also, I am not trying to make a claim that people do this often, I am simply asking those who DO do this to stop.

If they exist then you can find them. If you want us to take you seriously, you find them for us. Every time I've seen a newer person get discouraged, it's been for the right reasons, for example, telling them not to make an MMORPG as their first program.

Agreed, links or it didn't happen; I find it hard to believe as many as 9 members called you a noob and stupid for asking a few questions in the wrong section. Also, in case you didn't read Happy Cheesecake's post:

Quote: "The point is, sometimes the people redirecting you to another board just do not know enough in the subject you are posting about to give you adequate information to answer your question. Therefore, they only tell you it's in the wrong section and that the people there are more suitable to help you."

It's a very good point, if you post in the wrong section then you may not get help because people in that section may not know how to answer it, or the people who can answer it best may not go there etc etc. However if you continually asked questions in what was obviously the wrong section then you must be stupid, though what I personally find more annoying are people who sign up with a username that is the question they wish to ask, or when they ask questions related to some other company's products rather than going to their forums.

@veron - i found an example (i didn't have to look far and no offence! )
the final response to the innocent inquiry could very well be perceived as rude (tho effectively a helpful response).

@trace - as you stated,
Quote: "the majority of you are helpful and understanding "

if you expect everyone here to hold hands and sing kumbaya, don't hold your breath. we're real people, just like you see in sac (yah, i'm about 70 miles from you and i know full well what the public's like in this neck of the woods ). if the majority here are helpful and respectful (most of the time, we all have bad days), then that's all that matters.

Haha Virtual, nice looking! The thing with that response is that it's perfectly true. I should have searched - that question had been asked, as Fred said, a hell of a lot before, and I deserved a response which was a little snappy. If this is the sort of thing that Trace is complaining about (doesn't sound like it is) then get over it.

three things here. 1st it happened a long time ago in a far (far) away galaxy in a forgotton solar system so it shouldn't matter too much.
second , although other more experianced members should be helpful and not be rude or post non-constructive posts, they sometimes do because they are people and people (especially tired or hungry ones) are prone to act more like asses than humans. Lastly, one or two bad apples doesn't mean that the whole tree is bad. in short, there are plenty of members in the community who will go out of their way to help you and those are the ones that I remember the most and will help should they ever have a "stupid" question or need help with something.

Trace get a life. This is a forum not part of the real world, chances are you will never meet anyone from this forum, so don't take everything so seriously. You sound like your hurt by the fact that people, mainly newbs, are getting quickly and efficiently 'shoved' into the right direction.

Makes me giggle

Just so I can leave it at that, I'm not gonna look at this thread for a while so any stupid purposely offensive comments will be meaningless.

I think Venge put it eloquently:

Quote: "It would be appreciated by a ton of people if these members were more helpful, while at the same time letting them know they posted in the wrong place."

Quote: "Yes, it would.

I think that sums it up nicely. 1st post too!

I'm agreeing with OP, there can honestly be some truly anal-retentive people around here, sad to say this but this applies to mods as well.

I once made a joke something along the lines of 'you are such an angry little man' and I added an emoticon to show that I was just joking around, but apparently Nickydude took it very seriously and saw fit to slap me. When I emailed him about it I didn't get a reply.

I honestly don't care if this is only a forum, when people just see fit to rage at people just because 'it's posted in the wrong section' or 'use search' or something along the lines of that, it just annoys me, because gee whiz, it's just a forum! Does it really matter all that much?

This may not be part of real life, but you can show some maturity. One does not need to be a troll. Ever. It does not benefit you unless you are truly that upset with your own life. There is absolutely no reason to lash out at people on a forum. I'm not going to say that I have read many posts around here short of my WIP thread and in geek culture, so I can't really judge this forum specifically. However, from other forums I've seen, there is no use in being a jerk. The ones who act like that really need to get over themselves.

Sometimes people are just in a bad mood when they are on here.
It's a far cry from youtube, where you get insulted no matter what you say. I think they should ban comments on youtube, it's totally pointless and just lets idiots vent their frustrations on others.
I use the word "just" in every frigging post!
just just just just just

I think of youtube as a video forum. people post and people respond and vent just like they do here except that they use video instead of text. What makes it seem more insulting though is the fact that their insults are in a video so you get to actually see their facal exspression and attitudes and get a very quick estimate of the amount of insult they are intending.

ok, well try this, have a couple people trash your work, they never ever say hay this is real good to your good work. but they only trash your bad work. so if the work is good, they never respond. but if there is the smalest little problem, then they shoot your stuff down. you just need to get use to the way the fourm works. inore the people that are bothering you then just resopnd to the people that acully do try to help.

Daniel wright, I hope you weren't talking about the TGC community in your post, because I think that nobody's good work goes unnoticed. Everyone's WIP's have at least some level of attention, code snippets are congratulated and tweaked by others, and program announcements work in the same way as WIP's. Sure, some programs get a whole lot more comments than others, but there's a reason for that.

I find the comments on YouTube funny, in a lame pathetic sort of way. If anyone feels insecure about themselves can just go to YouTube, because no doubt, you'll find somebody who's at least a 100x bigger of a loser than you'll ever be.

Again it is unclear whether or not that is to the entire post or to the picture. I sincerely hope it is to the entire post because to be honest, you started that post in the worst way I could think of.
