1. 99% of offensive, immature or misdirected comments on these forums take place in the alleged FPSC boards. Why? Because FPSC is a tool primarily geared towards the younger population that want to quickly make a game and show their friends.

2. As many have said, seriously... these are forums, if you take people you've "met" online seriously, you should stop meeting people online.

3. Posting to tell a newcommer to post in the correct boards is helping them a tonne. They post in the right boards, they get their answer faster. Imagine you walked into a building and asked the janitor where your friend Kelly lived, while the reception desk was a few steps away from you. Maybe the janitor would give you a weird look and not be able to help at all, maybe the janitor would pretend to know what he's talking about and misdirect you, or maybe he might actually know a Kelly but direct you to the wrong Kelly's room. Would you rather you went through all of that hassle and still end up where you started, or would you rather the janitor simply said "hey, see the reception desk over there? If you ask them, they'll be able to tell you exactly how to get to Kelly's room."

Guilty as charged.lol

I know it's rude to just shoot down some peoples work, but some do get classed as rude for the completely wrong reason, I believe that being rude is saying "Looks like crap." With no real intention to help. Some people however do say that being rude on here is giving perfectly good crit, like models, if someone names something that could be improved its not rude, people are trying to help, people can't say "Great work!" All the time, because not to sound rude, it won't get anyone anywhere, we all need that little crit to push along, to motivate us to get to the next level, why do you think teachers have deadlines for everything, give no deadlines the student will just think "Screw this. I don't really need to do this." I know, I'm rambling on but sometimes people ARE sometimes mistakingly classed as rude.

an interesting way of describing constuctive critisism.
Its my opinion that if you dont like something (like a model for example) then you have two choices.
you can either say nothing , or you can be honest and say that you dont really care for it or that you dislike it.
These options are non-offensive and are definately better than saying "it looks like crap"
It also gives the other person a chance to respond and ask you what you dont like about - is it too short? too tall ? how can I improve it ?ect....

Flat out rudeness is terrible, rudeness with reason on the other hand gets the point clear. It avoids delusions of grandure and shows just exactly where they are on the 'level of skill'. It also points them in a direction and gives them motivation to show it in thier face.

My two cents ...

The people who are snappy, rude, impatient, or antagonistic are probably either (a) kids and immature, or (b) pathetic in real life. Of the people I know on here that are well rounded in real life, their forum manner is always equally well rounded.

I'd wager anyone who gets on their high horse a lot is probably a complete loser, and deserve your pity more than anything.

Edit: ... after all, we're on a game programming forum! While most people on here like to claim they're popular and have had sex with 8 million girls, we know the reality HAS to be that most of us are virgin nerds with superiority complexes, and the only place we can be superior is on an internet forum.

Edit 2: Virginity is nothing to be ashamed of! It just helped me make my point at how sad we all are.

I stop the quote there for a reason, my point is this death head.
you never ever ever ever have once said my work was good. not one time, now i know we have had our problems the whole time here. but it would be nice to here you say that something in my work is good.
I work hard becouse i love what i do. I know my stuff needs work in some areas and i am working them out but to hear you compliment me, well I would go take my family out to celibrate. not joking here. I would trully take them out to dinner.

Well, 8000000 chicks / (356 * 250) chicks a day = approximatly 89 years. That sounds more like it, don't you think?

250 chicks a day:

24*60=1440 mins a day

1440/250=5.76

Unless my math is bad, then that is 1 chick about every 6 minutes.

Basically, 8 million is a bad goal.

Let's try 1 every 30 mins for 89 years...

24*60 = 1440/30 = 48*365 = 17520*89 = 1559280 chicks.

Wow, that was really downgraded from 8 million.

Let this prove what group I would fall into.

Did you just not get what I said? If I said "Great work Dan! You can really model.. BTW You can improve on this part of the model..." What would you really read? The improving or the Great Work. You don't know if I like your work, I certainly don't dislike it, I'm just trying to be helpful, and all I get is you slagging back, from me trying to be helpful. Just don't expect me to keep saying your work is good. But instead of throwing back any Crit which doesn't have "Good work" in, keep it and grow, I know you have enough modelling potential to develop. We are humans at the end of the day, we learn all the time, even when you aren't thinking about it. I also find it funny how you cut out the part where I reason out my case.

Quote: "Flat out rudeness is terrible, rudeness with reason on the other hand gets the point clear. It avoids delusions of grandure and shows just exactly where they are on the 'level of skill'. It also points them in a direction and gives them motivation to show it in thier face.

True, this is also my argument.

Quote: "I work hard becouse i love what i do. I know my stuff needs work in some areas and i am working them out but to hear you compliment me, well I would go take my family out to celibrate. not joking here. I would trully take them out to dinner."

If you love what you do, then you should take into account more and more crit, and not attack back at people who try to help.

I do hope to actually be able to compliment your work, but why should I, when all I get is abuse back.

a person would eat 3 of them a day , that would be -3 chhicks per a day.

You are right. We could also assume 30 mins per day in the bathroom, so -4 per day...

1559280-(365*4)= 1557820

And what if he sleeps? Let's say 8 hours a day...

1557820*((24-8)/24)= 1038546 and 2/3

2/3 of a chick... Guess he didn't finish one "session"

And math to figure out how many I will get:

1038546 and 2/3 *((DnD lvl/Facebook friends)/(# of cool stories/ how many of those stories are about RPGs))+ how fast I can do a math equation = -1 and 1/3

Dang.

EDIT: ON topic, Danial, I think your stuff is very good. You just need to take a little constructive critisism every now and then.
