I'm not making fun. Sorry if that's how it came across. There's just nothing sexist about it whatsoever.
Like Seppuku said, the guy traditionally asks the girl out. That's how it has been and probably always will be.
How in any way is that sexist?
Like in high school, there is the sadies hawkins dance where the girl is supposed to ask the guy out. Every other dance, the guy is generally supposed to ask the girl out. That's how it is. No one questions it, few complain, and life goes on. Nothing sexist about it.
