Man, I can't wait for this. Valve games are pretty much the only games I really get excited for now, and that don't seem to be focus-group tailored for hormonal teenage boys.

Wheatley reminds me of the Geico gecko!

Agreed, all of that time the entire gaming community ridiculed the outdated-ness of the source engine and the new one just looks fabulous. Lets just hope TGC can pull off the same trick (with FPSC)

Wheatley's great, I love how they used the handles as animated eyebrows

Yep, Valve does their own "thang", and eschews faddish trends, like ridiculous amounts of bloom on EVERYTHING.

The gameplay and graphics look INCREDIBLE.

Yeah i understand totally that its a placeholder, but some of the dialogue needs a revise too like Jeku said, but they probably are just whipping that stuff up quick for now to see where they stand.

the problem with portal was that it created a huge annoying subculture based on cake is a lie and other goofy stuff. I remember when prtal 1 came out we had girls from anime club running down the hall screaming the cake is a lie and every time you mention something about a cake or companion cube to them theyd just go crazy

The diaogue is too comical. It's over-the-top buddy movie type, and the accent is cliche. I don't want a character in Portal to continuously talk to me and crack jokes, because the replay factor would shoot down to 0 for me.

I do agree they went a bit over the top in the "Meet Wheatley" trailer, but I don't believe his chatter will be that constant, nor will he be with you the entire game. Valve's not that stupid.

But GladOS can deadpan all she wants - her lines are instant classics. "We both said a lot of things you're going to regret." Haha!

They currently havea list here: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2546/

That probably doesn't include some of the newer releases though, and if you meant releases coming soon, all I know is Portal 2 and, eventually, Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Episode 3 will come. But you know Valve. They take their time.
Quote: "i didnt play through portal since i aint no pussle freak"

I had to think about what you said first, and then I realised you ment Puzzle freak. I am a puzzle freak and I think God of War would have been nothing without the creative puzzles! And Portal is all about puzzle solving. And if you didn't play Portal trought... then shame on you.

And if there is someone that haven't played Half-Life 2 trought, tehn you are not a true nerd, even thou what you try to do!

ok how long has it been since portal 1 and how did the protagonist survive (and for how long ) i am guessing since everything is overgrown in vines its been a long time like a few years and how did glados all of a sudden start functioning and how did the main charecter (if its the same one as portal1 which i am guessing is from p1) survive all these years assumiong its been a few years assuming everything is way overgrown

glados was thought to be destroyed but in fact just the physical part of her was killed there was a backup on the aperture sciences' borealis that got transferred back to the facility in a data transfer as part of the portal ARG. portal 2 takes place 200 years after the original game, the original game took place around the seven-hour war in half life. portal 2 takes place around the same time frame as half life 2. the character is still alive because at the end of portal a robot drags you away, and supposedly puts you into some kind of stasis (my theory is the gman is involved). when chell and weatley accidentally turn on glados, they are turning on a different robot that has had glados' programming transferred to it (a backup, note how the new glados looks different).

I love that voice, I hope they at least replace it with an equally british voiceover, It just ooses character into the portal setting which is so devoid of life

Also, about half way through the original GLADoS actually says "I have your entire brain backed up" (followed by a stupid sounding 'Hello' and "That's you, that's how stupid you sound" )

But yeah, the dragging thing is part of it but I hazard a guess the 'backup' will play a part too

How is Wheatleys current voice amateurish?
you may not fancy the accent too much but the recording itself is great and every part of the voice is intentional

PAGAN: I don't know why you think we know all about it. I think it's like... hundreds of years in the future or something... I don't know. But that's why you should play the game when it comes out.

Valve FINALLY implemented proper dynamic shadows to Source. And damn, do they look nice. Imagine those hanging vines if they didn't cast and recieve proper shadows.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

i wonder where apeture science lab is located? also i suspect the original portal might have took place maybe a little after the 7 hour war because everything looks kinda like it was abandoned for some time (like a few months to a year) and all the people already dissapeared. Also there seemes to be no signs of anything panicky happening no signs of violence, it just looks like all the apeture science workers dissapeared into thin air

What if glados killed them all...

aperture science is in Cleveland, Ohio. don't ask how I know this, I have no idea.

Look at the text in the lower right corner, above "Borealis"...

well there is no sign of any struggle between people and glados, no dead bodies, no blood on the walls (exept for the crazy cake person who hid in the walls)no broken equipment, i would think people would be smart enough to react to glados and i would think they would try to put up a fight. at the least people could always shut her down.
