The Third BioShock game is in the works in a brand new enviorment!

Hmmm, the trailer was pretty cool but I think I too like the ocean. Because when you are in the ocean it is dark and gloomy as a result of the lack of sunlight. Although in the new one your in the sky so it won't be as dark as the ocean setting. But, it's too early to tell so hopefully I will be wrong.

I'm not much of a Bioshock enthusiast, but that looks nothing like the original. Sure being out of the ocean can just be a difference, and that's fine, but who the heck is the person pulling you in with magical powers? How does she do that? I've never heard of "mages" in Bioshock.

I think it looks interesting - I think there's only so much you can do with Rapture, to be honest, we've pretty much seen its fall.

Having the game set on the surface I think actually makes a lot of sense, those who have completed either one of the games will know what I mean. It'll be different, but I don't think it's a change that'd ruin it.

Also, I noticed how there seemed to be airships and a floating city, this peaks my interests, it seems Rapture isn't the only steam punk city in the Bioshock world, so reality is more alternate that you might first think...just so long as it's not too irregular with the real world, after all...the first game opens with a plane crash, so I hope that suddenly doesn't become inconsistent.

It's quite possible that rapture was discovered and Andrew Ryan's dream was stolen?

It's quite difficult to tell without speculation exactly what this game is going to be. But I suppose we'll see in time.

No, they are supernatural steroids. In BioShock 2, you were a prototype Big Daddy which is were you probably got the gloves from.

I loved bioshock, bioshock 2 just seemed like a poor excuse to make something, it felt exactly like bioshock 1, only that you were a big daddy.. soo.. a cumsly verson of bioshock 1?
bioshock 3? i might give it a shot, no high hopes though

^I loved Bioshock 2, it provided a perspective for both Big Daddies and little sisters that didn't come with Bioshock, so you understand the cruelty of rapture more. I think it worked as an appropriate sequel, yes, many things were similar, but I thought it was a fantastic game.

Plus, the multiplayer side is pretty fun.

Turns out, BioShock Infinite is way before Rapture. It takes place in 1912. So, Im guessing no Plasmids, no Adam, and no Little Sisters.

Maybe it's a literal "Upper Class", i.e., Rapture was where the most seedy scientists could go and was at the bottom of the ocean, the lowest a man can get...

Whereas this is the greatest of the great upper class citizens, but with a dark and sinister underbelly, (the character appears to be wearing similarly smart clothing)...

Assuming because Rapture is a steam-punk city, it's possible they wanted to keep in line with that, although with the first 2 Bioshock games you get this feeling that the outside world is very normal and that Rapture city is some hidden 'treasure', but it's quite possible with this other city being in the sky that it is another one of these hidden treasures, I don't know.

Holy crap, I'm not getting it if it's a "Screw you come to USA" patriotic game. I always thought of Bioshock being neutral and gloomy, not something like a kid's dream in Narnia...it seems I won't be owning all of the Bioshocks anymore if this abomination comes out ...

Yeh I have to agree with SikaSina on that what is with the patriotic American feel I can accept the American flag ever so often and some American accents as it is most likely floating above America. But from that teaser it seems as if it is going to be one of those types of game that will really piss anyone off that isn't American and proud to be American.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea i have no problems with Americans and i know a great many and like them but this game takes it a bit far.

Unless they tone it down a bit I won't be buying it.

Ditto Next, I haven't a problem with USA either but I can't stand games which screw you off for not being an American, which is primarily one the reason why I hated Modern Warfare and a few other 'popular' games. Unless 2K can get their brain and create something which isn't patriotic and almost a Herbal Essences parody, I won't be getting anything from them again.

Apart from that, the graphics look amazing and let's hope those graphics make their way into the game.

Sorry about that outrage. It just angers me to see that there are so many UK/US games which completely side onto USA without giving a damn about other region's feels. There are some countries where they take patriotism seriously so 2K better watch out.

There is such a thing as too American though, i would say the same for the UK (where i live) if they made a game like that with British flags everywhere i wouldn't play it either.

Depends, if they take the 'patriotic' route, I think being Bioshock, it'd be a deconstruction, a gritty or a more twisted version of patriotism. And obviously, if the game was all about patriotism, then it'd appeal less to foreign audiences.

However, 'patriotism' is a bit of speculation, when you consider how much we actually know about the game. I mean, WWIV makes a fair comment, it's taking the American setting to it. We know America has been outwardly patriotic for a long time, but I doubt it'd be 'shove down your throats' patriotism, but 'this is an accurate portrayal of time and setting'. (With all things considered of course...floating cities didn't exist in 1910, heck, they don't in 2010, but you know what I mean)

now isnt it a bit to early to discuss what the game is about?! it is a friggin cinematic trailer, meaning you get as much out of it as i get by staring at my desk.

.. I personally hate these cinematical trailers, as iam not interested in that, iam interested in what it will look like IN GAME, what will the gameplay and graphics be like?
if it is too early to show gameplay or graphics, why take time and effort into making a CINEMATICAL TRAILER?! It just gives false hopes about: "wooow the graphics look so great!"... it isnt... nevermind
or, you know it is just a cinematic trailer, and therefore the wait until the first real trailer just became even more painful

They're call 'teaser' trailers for the reason, it's basically to get all of their fans to suddenly jump around in a camp fashion going 'oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!' It's not meant to show you anything, they're just trying to tease people by reveal as little as possible to say - I've got a cookie, but you can't have it yet. You mouth waters wanting to taste that lovely cookie.

At least, that's how I'd describe their intentions and the reactions bigger fans. I'll admit, for some games, it has worked for me - I have got excited thinking 'Oh my God! Another one is coming out soon' and I'll watch any new trailers, hoping to learn more. If they can get their bigger fans buying on day of release rather than waiting a couple of months, they can get a lot more profit. Generally, I avoid being that gullible - I tend to study gameplay before I make a purchase on a game.

But if it works, then obviously enough people are getting excited, so it's a decent marketing ploy.

Agreed. BioShock 1 was about objectivism but it could never be called a triumph of objectivism: the whole point is that the characters become hubristic and are flawed and this causes their downfall. To say that BxI is automatically a Patriotic American game because it has Patriotic American elements doesn't take into account the fact that Bx is all about flawed humanity and imperfect ideals.

Also, Ken Levine said in that interview posted above that the "City in the Sky" idea is an outward representation of how most people felt at the turn of the century: science had given them wonders and surely a perfect city in the clouds wasn't too far off? The fact that, in reality, science did not give us a floating city but did give us two world wars on an unprecedented scale culminating in the atom bomb should tell us that the "City in the Sky" idea is not as flawless and beautiful as it might seem.

I don't really care about the setting/patriotism if it feels like Bioshock (that is, plasmids, vending machines, etc) and I think some of you are getting way too worked up about this.

And as for the name, if it's a franchise, what else are they going to call it? Airshock? Bioair? And yes, you can point out that 'Oh, they're only calling it Bioshock to make a quick buck', well then you would have a point then, but does it really matter if it turns out to be a good game?

As far as I understand, this is a city that is the complete opposite of Rapture (Obviously), but if you watch the trailer you will see a billboard of a woman dressed in an American flag dress (Columbia) taking one child that looks healthy and also a baby floating into darkness and is scrawny(Rapture), so from what I can gather this city, is going to be haters of Rapture. Nope, this is set before BioShock. It's set before WWI.

That does seem to be the case with the whole "Burden not Columbia" poster. I'm interested to know how the city portrays itself to its own citizens and to the outside world, though. Ken Levine said in one interview that Columbia is a way for the US to show the world what the benefits of America are: if they can build a city in the sky, they can do anything. He says it's kind of like a World Fair, showing off all this incredible science. So it's even possible that the original citizens of Columbia were handpicked from US cities to give the most harmonious impression of what life in America is like. That's just a wild guess, but it would fit with the ethos.

I don't really get why people need to get overly analytical with the trailer. It's a nice looking cinematic teaser, enjoy it. Let it speak for itself.

It's not necessarily connected to Rapture at all, and it doesn't need to be. There are other game series out there where the sequels have no relation to their predecessors, games like Final Fantasy, for example.

I'm very excited about this, as I have a slight weak spot for steampunk design. With Ken Levine on board, it'll surely be hard to screw up what seems to be a really cool and fresh next step for the Bioshock series.

Well during Bioshock, Rapture is broken down and wrecked, we don't know how long it was when it went down hill, and I'd say Rapture and Columbia were cities at a similar time.
