You have to understand "French" humour. The same way with the Brits. It is what we would call "dry" humour which just means subtle. That's why it's difficult for the Brits to find our (US) humour funny and most Americans don't find the Brits humour funny. I'm probably one of the exceptions. I found it funny. I like a lot of British TV shows because of that as well.

I'll be putting up a couple of pictures soon. I find this thread interesting. Even if it's not so "beautiful." The culture and architecture is interesting.

I wouldn't of believed you were from France until I saw your French Villa. Nice. Reason being is that photo of farmland (notice the corn) could have easily been in Nebraska. Maybe that's why people around here are discovering that you can grow grapes and make wine. BTW, Flatlander does not come from the fact I live in the flat lands -- that would be in Southern Kansas. It comes from the book of the same name where it is a two-dimensional world.

That usage probably dates me. Used more in the 50's 60's.

American humour (humor) is more out there and not so subtle. That's why slapstick is so funny to most Americans. Maybe another funny word for you. I don't know.

Yeah, I generally find both kinds of humor funny, but European humor is usually much more dry than American humor. A lot of Americans think, "I don't get it, how is that funny?" about European humor, and a lot of Europeans seem to think, "That's stupid, not funny." about American humor.

That's only one of our many patches of grass. !

My uni claims it has the most picturesque campus in Europe or something. - and I mean, it has its own loch (lake), golf course and castle so you know, we're entitled to green grass

I thought it was probably a University. Beautiful. Might be the most beautiful campus in the World.

There is a private "College" I attended for a couple of years before I move on to the University California. It is in my home town of a mere 4500. Actually when I attended it was barely over 3000. It is considered one of the most beautiful campuses in the states. However, it doesn't have its own castle, nor are the bodies of water as large. They are considered "ponds" but well kept ponds.

I hope to sometime soon visit your area of Europe. Scotland, Ireland, and of course the home of TGC.

Finally got a snap. I've just moved here. It's a listed gatehouse for the local manor house, owned by a countess. We're only renting it, but the view from my office is up the private road to the manor. It's a really nice old property. Could never afford to buy it though (can barely afford to rent it! ).

@Dark basic dude79 - Deceptively small from the outside. The rooms are all pretty big, but UK properties are smaller than your US houses anyway. It's just me and my girlfriend anyway, so plenty big enough for us.
