So MLP is spreading. I'm not against people liking it, but I think that the majority of users of this forum would like to see it stick to its own thread, me included. I feel the general artistic style visually offensive and don't think it belongs on a "geek culture" or coding forum.

Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

Visit my blog for any and all info on what I do coding wise.

Yes, I too find Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP) an offensive audio format. Sure, it's lossless, but at the end of the day it's still PCM - and heck, it's not even available with DVD video

Yeah, this is pretty much like Cormorant5's Batman obsession. You're just going to have to deal with it while it's here, because nobody really cares if you don't like it or not.

The annoying fads (best word I can come up with to describe it) will disappear eventually, so just bide your time until that happens, and your rage will dissipate soon.

In our defense IP, I'm trying to get Pony-related discussions to stick to the pony threads.

As far as avatars, that's our right to pick whatever we want. As long as it's non-violent and isn't porn, we're free to have whatever we want.

And what would you prefer, lolcats?

I'd also like to point out that hatred towards bronies is another point in the Love and Tolerance plan to promote happiness.

Because everyone's happier when they have a scapegoat to vent their life's problems at.

Huh, I thought he was talking about My Little Pony, but then it struck me that IF isn't sexist and homophobic at all, so of course he wouldn't disparage my little pony.

Let's be honest, it's not a "spread," it's 3 people.

Still more than I expected, but people are too into the cultural sterotype of My Little Pony too ever try it. Add to that the issue that men must now act 100% masculine aparently, despite the fact that the male body still produces oestrogen, the feminine hormone.

I'd just like to point out it's not just this forum that has received brony attention. It's pretty much everywhere. Because some people actually try the show and genuinely like it, reasons vary, but it's oh so nice of everyone to throw around implications to my sexuality because of it.

Yes. I actually like it, this is one of the few things I don't watch, listen to, etc, just to be funny.

I don't want to argue, I really don't. But I'm not gay, and if I was that shouldn't effect my watching of My Little Pony at all. The whole point of his thread was to show that there is finally a show that grown men could watch, like back when there was Ed, Edd, and Eddy, I remember my parents watching it with me, laughing at all the jokes, or Dexter's Lab. It's not for small kids completely because it has an advanced vocabulary as well.

Well I find those people weird. Just like any rule 34 of cartoons/anime, games etc. I avoid them like the plague and they're generally disliked by the brony community anyway.

I agree with Cormorant. I'm not looking for people's approval, or converting the community. I just want to be able to watch a show, talk about it in a dedicated thread, and not be called gay because of it.

However, I personally wouldnt mind being called gay, on the internet: People here dont know me, if they want to think me as a homosexual, then go ahead, I dont mind at all as I believe gays are totally fine, and very nice people generarily, so if I am being called a homosexual over the internet, then allow me to laugh in your face

I dont think anyone here is judging. I'm pretty sure we have alot of gay people on these forums anyway, i know a few have already told us all.

However, there is the fear that if you watch MLP you will appear to be gay to your friends, and some societies arnt too fond of gay people. Its not so much the fear of turning gay, but knowing when you were growing up with your mates everyone picked on 'gay' people (even though at the time noone was gay or straight).

Personally i dont care, but i dont like high-pitched voices so i hate the show =/. I saw one part of an episode though where they were singing a lullaby then one of them starts signing like a rockstar, that was quite funny.

And what's the problem with people considering you gay / making fun of you, just because you like this particular show?

If you truly enjoy it, it shouldn't affect and bother you in the slighest and you shouldn't care about it, since to some extent everyone is kinda immature and makes fun of stuff that others are into, without necessarily meaning what they're saying but actually just joking around - taking it personally or wanting to convince other people that it isn't what they're saying is just...unnecessary and also immature, since you should just ignore it.

However, while I don't have any problem with people talking about it in this forum, I do also think, that it should just remain within it's own thread - I don't recall anyone else making remarks or posting pictures about other shows in unrelated threads, or even creating threads for shows.

What it all boils down to: have fun with whatever show it is that you like, but don't run around talking about it everywhere, just to try to improve it's reputation and stop people making immature comments, since that's why such threads come up.

Because generally men want good reputation and if the person for whatever reason thinks that doing something will lower their reputation, they will try to avoid it.

This is why they're mad, Quik. They want us to confine it to the thread, which is fine for me, but I want to know why no one has complained about my Batman obsession, because there isn't a thread for me to rant about Batman in, and I constantly do it in the Posting Comp. No one has complained about any obsession in the past. I've seen people posting in the Posting Comp about what they built in Minecraft, but there is a very popular Minecraft thread.

And frankly we find it funny to each other to use language like everypony and hoofbump, and the point of Geek Culture is to share interesting stuff, have interesting conversations, and to get a laugh or two. So sorry if I misunderstand and you are okay with our language but if you aren't I can't see why.

Yeh let's be honest, a reaction pic's a reaction pic, cat, pony, whatever.

I have been keeping it to the thread I made. All the pony discussion goes on there at the moment. I knew it'd annoy others if we brought the show onto other threads, so it has it's place there.
