Thanks, MrValentine.

I agree. I think this will be great if TGC gives it the go-ahead for hosting official files. DarkBasic and GDK themselves take quite a while to download.

I think it will be good for models and media packs, it should be good for FPSC users, and of course WIPs and program announcements like you aid.

My goal isn't to have a super fast way to download files. Sure, we could have valentine host the files for us, but what happens when he stops hosting, shuts the server down, etc. Shall we keep a list of all the websites where you can find old downloads. (Isn't that what bittorrent is meant to replace?)

With torrents, as long as we even have one person sharing the file, it can be downloaded again. I've seen hundreds of threads asking for old plugins here, some of them which can only be gotten from the original creator and darkbit. Many of them we can't find. But we have recovered a handful so far. So already the site is doing what it was designed for.

As for the logo and stuff, it's all just trivial and can be fixed. I'll talk to Wilderbeast about it. It was actually something I had noticed but then forgot about

Actually, utorrent is created by the guy who created the bittorrent protocol!

I stand Corrected thanks jerico

umm regarding shutting it down, doubt it...
I aint payint £100+ a year for nothing, I will host it on my new company website which has tons of space and bandwidth erm both are unlimited >.<

but yeah whatever suits the other... I doubt I can make the time to create a community site, with memberships etc but I can create a static html page with all the stuff listed and detailed and with screenshots etc or someone can just take an ftp account and do it using my hosting ^^ this notion is welcome to anybody that wants their own free web space too... I think i will create a community forum page soon to outline the things i am offering to my fellow Dev's

Hey valentine, if you sign up you can get an rss feed and have your torrent client automatically download it. If you would like to do that, we can automatically link to your site to offer http downloads.

If you're running linux, I can set it all up for you and create a simple script and send you a zip file with everything you need. You'd only need to setup a couple things to get it running.

Hey all, just wanted to let you guys know we've moved the service over to my server so it's quite a bit faster now. If you were having problems before, you should try again.

We've also changed the domain so if your client is not seeding anymore, delete your torrents (you don't have to delete the files themselves, just the torrent), and re-download them either through RSS or one at a time.

We've also committed the system to SVN so we can easily update it and add features, and then check those out to the production server.

Some other things we've done, RSS feeds now list all previous uploads, so you can download the whole site within a few minutes. All torrents have now been AV scanned and future uploads should be scanned soon after being downloaded by my client.

More updates are expected within the coming weeks so any problems or suggestions let me know!

hey Jerico, can you tell us how to urm well, participate, its a little too complicated for the likes of me... how does your site know which torrent user is who? would like to participate in the statistics, also how do you download the entire collection in one go?

Also, are any of the files hosted anywhere? or just bumped between different clients?

EDIT

getting BitTorrent now

EDIT

Nevermind, read FP just now...

EDIT

Nope still dont get it, but will download everything I can for now...

EDIT

It is frustrating to have to go into every page and then click download... cant it just be that we simply click download on the list page?

EDIT

Ok I finally got the lot downloading, all 72, but a little help with the RSS thing, the Utorrent help think in BT is broken... I found how to generate my RSS on the site but... dont get it much...

EDIT

damn wish I never got out of BT'ing... found it...

EDIT

AF102_DBP.zip
xml-plugin_[en]_20110912_madbit.zip
xml-plugin_madbit.zip

are not on the RSS... maybe not added yet?

Those files were uploaded by other members who I don't think quite understood about having to pre-seed files once uploaded. Ie. they exist only on the server as ghost torrents pointing nowhere.

Hey all, just wanted to let you know, we've added a new category. Docs. You can upload any documents to this section! Also, we have added a File Browser that you can use to download any of our hosted torrents via HTTP rather than Bittorrent. Please note the download speed is significantly restricted in order to keep our bandwidth costs down. The feature will be updated periodically when new uploads come in.

Also, the File Browser requires an account in order to prevent abuse.

you could just mirror one link onto my space... I dont mind...

Offer still stands >.< for the HTTP files, the speeds are maximum up to 50,000MBit and no bandwidth restrictions either... should help keep your costs and give the added no restrictions option for avid users
