Come out of the article and I'll check. It's currently checked out while you have it open.

Once I've had a look I'll let you know. We prefer to check articles before they are published anyway (just to proof read).

Hi baxslash, I was trying to add my game to the "Games" list, not publish an article. Did I do something wrong ?

It's essentially the same thing "Joomla" speak I'm sorry. If you're more or less finished just click save and exit edit mode so I can check it over. I just checked your status and you should be able to publish it by doing that.

EDIT: One of us admin must really come up with a tutorial for adding game listings some time soon...

Hello All,

I love following the happenings and progress on this thread, however, the last time I posted here, a few months ago, I selected to be copied on all posts to the thread. While it is nice to keep up with everyone, it has caused WAY too many emails.

Does anyone know how to stop getting emails every time someone posts here?

I tried editing my original posts, but there was no option, that I could see, to disable the emails and there is no unsubscribe link in the emails that I get.

If anyone knows how to stop these, I would be very grateful for your help.

Thanks again,
JHA

Here's an interesting development on AppUp. You no longer have to use the AppUp SDK for windows based Apps!

It has now been made optional. Check out this article on the AppUp site:

It's been a while since I put any new games on AppUp and frankly sales have been dropping steadily for a while. I wasn't really worried because I just figured the games I had on there had just peaked.

So when I started getting spammed by Intel every half hour with the exciting news that "Congratulations! You are now a Red Belt Software Developer on Intel AppUp(SM) developer program. The title “Intel® Red Belt Software Developer”
recognizes the value you bring to the Intel Software Network communities by actively sharing knowledge and expertise.
"
(which happened about a year ago I think) so I thought I'd go on the forum and post a request for help.

Previously help has arrived quickly for silly problems like this so I wasn't worried but 48 hours later I am still getting spammed by the same email from Intel every half an hour on the dot. I've been told it is being sorted but still it isn't but what is more worrying is that I am the ONLY person to have posted in over 24 hours on the forum there.

I hate to say it but it looks like AppUp is dying.

Somebody prove me wrong?

That was one of the things I noticed when I first tried to get Double Pinochle on App-Up, it looked like they were being hit by a spam bot on their forums (which doesn't leave the greatest impression). While the spam was eventually cleared up, I then asked for help with their installation on their boards, and never got a response.

It was around that time that I decided that App-Up was too much effort for a market that I didn't think I was going to make that much money. I decided not to use them at that time.

That's a shame because less than a year ago it was full of energy and people willing to help. It's actually the reason this group exists (once called the "AppUp Developers Group"...)

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed, because I really wanted to release my game through a store on PC somehow. I tried Steam and GameStop's online store, but my game was rejected. Probably because it's too casual, but oh well, wasn't expecting to make much off of the PC platform anyway.

I finally managed to bend Bob Duffy (of Intel)'s ear about whether AppUp is falling apart. Here's his response:
Quote: "
Far, far, far from falling apart. The opposite. .. and I mean that seriously. Intel just created a $100million fund for AppUp. And there is going to be the largest campaign Intel has ever done for the last 10 years, around Ultrabooks,

I agree activity from developers has dropped. And I understand why. We pushed MeeGo pretty hard last year, then had to pull back without a lot of communication. Then Ultrabook stuff was about to hit and we have 3 phases there, most of which are related to things not yet actionable for developers. So shifts in the program

Ultrabooks are really really hot right now. There's a big internal push to get Appup shipping on a many Ultrabooks as possible. Then with Win8 you will see Ultrabooks and mobile devices start to blur lines. Also we are about to get some significant exclusive apps into to AppUp to drive demand

Let me know your thoughts on what we can do to help get developers involved (other than stop spamming you). Also look for some cool tools and API from us late February and March, lots going on. But I agree many lost interest latter half of 2012"

Isn't there a new install procedure for App Up? Is it easier to get it on the App Up store now?

The last one I never figured out.

I believe you no longer require the AppUp SDK to get your apps on the store however, there are trade-offs e.g you no longer get the security of the store.

I'd also like to let you guys know that The Slayer and I have finally released a demo for Planet Okron, and we'd love to hear what you think.

I have been disappointed with the AppUp developer community, it was always quiet and the spamming by some US TV company that tooks weeks to clear up finally killed it.

I think AppUp has potential, lets hope they find a new lease of life for it. IT currently ships on every netbook sold by Dixons, Currys and PC World (all the same group).

i think the appup will not compete with the amazon kindle fire. They are being sold like hot cakes currently. Unless they can beat the price of the kindle there is no way they are getting back in the market.

AppUp is a store, not a device. I've heard rumours that a new AppUp client / store is being developed that will mean apps / games can be bought even more devices (including the kindle fire).

Hi all. Just letting anyone know who is interested that I have a demo of the shooter I started when agk was released in the showcase forum.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=194270&b=48

I'm interested in what people think of the gameplay so far and any possible bugs. So go grab the demo if you like shoot em ups!

It's been a while since I posted here, ADG has gone a little quiet so I thought I'd share a test I started for a "B Movie" style game I'm playing with called "The day the Earth wobbled!" (for the time being anyway )

Attached is a small demo of this "The Blob" style game where the objective will be to consume buildings, cars, tanks and indeed soldiers and civilians with extreme prejudice. The blob will start smaller than it is in the demo and I'm still working out the kinks but let me know your thoughts on gameplay (what there is of it)...

Keys are arrowkeys for movement at the moment.

Here's a quick video:

Thanks Hodgey! I have a better system in mind for the blob at some point but it works for now. The buildings will be collapsible too I hope.

Looking forward to adding jumping so we can swat helicopters out of the sky like bugs. This project is just some light relief from my other projects really but it could make a fun game I think.

@3d point in space

It might be better to announce something that goes beyond a few words and you have not even removed the sample page...

Quote: "You can also registor here if you want to find a programmer on this site and want to hire them. A simple add on I added to my site recently."

I do not see this anywhere...

Quote: "If you do not diliver your product to the company I will ban you."

how very arrogant... Please try not to lose respect from others...

other possible typos aside

Quote: "I have WORD PRESS installed on my website NOW. I am TRYING to get people on these FORUMS TO post if they are willing to work for someone or not."

And please have something that actually works.. have a look at the ADG group for something that is actually a complete service...

no offence but your not exactlly portraying yourself as a polite person...

I appreciate your first language may not exactly be english... but still you are trying to BEGIN a business somewhat and therefore should attempt some form of professionalism... I feel insulted by your post there so I hope nobody misunderstands my response...

EDIT

My guess is I am not the only person thinking the above...

I think that TGC might have a few problems with you claiming to be "AGK Wordpress." Strongly recommend that you re-think this.

Agree with MrValentine. Also note that it's iOS (not IOS).

I don't really have time to get into this properly. What I will say is that this seems to be totally unrelated to the ADG. Any chance you could advertise this service elsewhere or explain what you are offering specific to ADG members?

If it's still on the AppUp store and you're still supporting it then we'd be happy to create an article about it on the Baxspace website.
