Hi again all. My apologies for the delay in the update, but due to a rather hectic work schedule I will have to show new weekly updates on Saturdays from now on.
The next update will include a sample of the castle keep and dungeons set. I will also be previewing the sword and shield weapon.
Until next time

Hi again, all. Due to the lack of an internet connection I have been unable to post any updates. However, the pack is coming along pretty well. Hopefully, by tomorrow, a new video will be online!

@Vandarc what is your thoughts on community contributions to this pack?

I've got this model in progress and been wanting to contribute a model to the community for how helpful its been.. including it in a fantasy pack like this could be nice?

Then again maybe you're looking for the accomplishment of being able to finish this pack by yourself?

Any how here's the potential contribution. His face/horns are very "a work in progress" but I'm happy with his body / tail area.

I anticipate him being a melee character using either dual scimitars or a trident perhaps?

Let me know your thoughts on the matter?

Hi again!
As promised, the castle preview video is now posted in the first post for your perusal. Some errors in the video, such as the sword and shield being seen as an item rather than a weapon have been fixed since the creation of this video. The doors, gates and fountain in the video lacks sound effects, but that has been added in the time since the creation of the video.
Currently I am working on the Fire and Ice caverns section of the pack.

@Storyteller, yeah, I kinda noticed that a bit after posting the video. Doing some workarounds with club placement on screen.

@Science Boy, as you can see, the pack is still coming along pretty well. I will not stop until it's done!

@King Fluffs, thank you very much!

@Erebusman, community contributions are more than welcome! Your character looks great so far, and would be a welcome addition to the pack.

Wow Vandaarc, this pack is coming out amazing! I will definitely be picking this bad boy up. Make sure when you release it to include .fpm's showcasing everything!

Thank you, Soviet176. As per your request, .fpms will be included in the pack. Something I forgot to mention about the new video posted yesterday is that the fire cavern pack includes a pair of custom hurt zones which deduct health at timed intervals, depending on the intensity of the lava.

Thanks Zwarte Piet, oxid and Storyteller. The segments and entities are nearing completion, so pretty soon I will move on to completing the weapons and creatures. With any luck this pack should be ready for release early in December.

@AbdulAhad: Hehehe. Thanks! Things are on schedule, so early December is still the deadline.

@Kerrby: Thanks! Nope, using vanilla FPSC for everything, just using a lot of different shaders, including some of bond1's, FPSC standard and others of my own design.

I love what you're doing. This pack would not be complete without a dragon. One had been made sometime ago but it doesn't seem to work with the current version of FPSC. At least for me. Very disappointed in that.

maho76 and Flatlander, both your character suggestions are good ones, however, if I am to meet my deadline with this pack, I think I'll have to add the monk and dragon to an add-on pack which will be available after the main pack's release.

This is really good, Vandaarc. The mine in the second video reminds me a lot of COD Black Ops. I look forward to download this amazing pack.

@J Swain: An ettin sounds like an awesome idea, but as stated in a previous post, for me to meet my own deadline I will relegate all new creature suggestions to an add-on pack which will be released at a later stage.

@The Hitchhiker: Thank you very much! Much appreciated.

Now, as promised, here are some screenshots of a few of the modular bridge segments I have created. Making it modular allows the user to make bridges as long or wide as they wish.

FYI I am now actively working on the Salamander model but the moderators decided it wasn't good enough for a WIP (yeah literally he claimed it wasn't rigged enough or something) thread the FPSC models and media forum area so moved it here

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of updates, but my trusty old 17" CRT monitor died on me a day after my last update, and with December craziness heaped onto it all I have only been able to get a new monitor recently. Just to let you all know that though I haven't been able to meet my own deadline, the work is still continuing on the pack.

So for now I hope the pack would be released in the early part of next year.

Here's an update to the monster/character I will be donating to the pack:

I had a few questions if anyone has a moment since this is my first melee character:

1. This character will NOT be using standard weapons he will have some sort of melee weapon like a staff , halberd, or trident for instance. I understand I can use a melee script for the attacks (any links on how to do that would be appreciated).

2: Can I animate him at say 60FPS if I want to as long as the FPE points to the right frames?

3. Can I do extended idle sequences? AKA more than one idle (like passive idle, aggressive idle, etc for when he has seen you or doesnt know you are there for instance)

4. Any other resources or threads you can point out how to animate or script a fully melee character with totally different setup than a standard gun toting FPS character is appreciated.

Thanks TZap and seppgirty!

Erebusman, the character looks amazing!
As to your questions:

1. Since you will be using custom animations, all the attacks of the model will have to be scripted from scratch to coincide with your model's attack keyframes, if you plan on it having more than one melee attack.

2. I have found that higher framerate animations do not have the desired effect in FPSC games. It gets a bit glitchy, and animations can slow down to a crawl. The standard PAL framerate is the best to use for animations.

3. This can be done, yes. You just have to script conditions for each state, and point that condition to the animation you want played. I have done this with both the Gazer and Jelly characters.

4. At the moment I cannot really think of any tutorials or scripts I can point you to, but if you can send me a list of your animations and what they are, I will gladly script them for you.

Keep us posted on the progress!

To everyone else, this pack has been a real pleasure to make, and I am thankful for all the interest you have shown in it. Release date coming very soon...

Can't wait Vandaarc! Will this be free for commercial use?
Also how much would you charge for custom character models? (not specifically rpg related)

Vandaarc,

Thanks I will stick to 25 fps for my animations then.

Hes ready to animate I'm just finalizing the texture before I actually start it because I find it inspiring to look at the character at his best when I'm animating rather than a place holder texture that looks bad -- sort of gets me dis-interested if you know what I mean.

I'll post updates on animations soon.

EDIT: Oh yeah sorry - I will definitely take you up on you doing the scripts and then check them out, great learning experience for me! Thanks.

Vandaarc I have a first set of animations ready for you to script off of.

The sequence for animation in the fpe would be something like this

Id prefer not to post an unfinished model on the forums for public download but if you want to contact me privately if you want a copy of it to test the scripting let me know.
