I think that either they're trying to kill WoW to make way for their next big MMO, or they're conducting an experiment to see how addicted their fans really are.

Their fans will buy anything that blizzard makes.

Then & Than
THAN: Unlike then, than is not related to time. Than is used in comparative statements.
THEN: Then is used either as a time marker or with a sequence of events.

I don't know why people are so surprised.
Pandaria has always been part of the Warcraft franchise.

In any case this expansion is mainly based on the battle between Horde and Alliance.

WoW is the best game ever and yes, I do play it and I'm a level 83 death knight tauren.

I am NOT trolling.

Also, the new expansion looks crap.

Pandarens are a race in Warcraft III and you had Pandaren monks, so before anybody frets, it's not WoW Kung Fu Panda. These fantasy games are full of anthropomorphism, Tauren are anthropomorphic bulls and possess tribal-like qualities, it's an animal you might associate with tribal plains, you have the race of anthropomorphic walruses in Northrend, who are an Eskimo/Inuit like race, so it's an animal you might associate with the Arctic. You also have dragonkin and dragons that take on a human form.

Pandas are an animal you might associate with the far east, and given their peaceful and meditative disposition, you can go as far as associating them with far eastern monks. Whilst yes, they're a fighter unit, but bear (no pun intended) in mind you're still talking about monks. It's probably why Warcraft III had Pandaren Monks and why Dreamworks had Kung Fu Panda. To be honest, I don't think there's anything THAT shocking about the idea. If other animals can be anthropomorphized and taken seriously (not sure why any WoW fan would want to be taken seriously, I certainly don't), so why not pandas?

In fact, I want one, I loved the Monk class in FFXI: Online and will be interested to see how WoW deals with it.

I don't get why people have so immediately gone against it. It's difficult at this stage to determine what the expansion is going to be like. The comment I keep seeing is that it's childish, even though the art style and how it's presented is no less childish than existing races or classes.

Quote: "Also, Death Knights FTW."

Aye, great fun to play once you understand how they work, I know some folk are put off by the rune system, but when you manage it well you can be pretty unbeatable in PvP, assuming the person you're fighting also isn't pretty unbeatable also, but then I'm still kind of a noob, so I'm usually around the middle in score rankings.

I had a blast playing WoW before WOTLK. When it came out it sloped downhill a little bit, the same seemed to happen with Cata and I'm expecting the same with this expansion. Doesn't affect me anyway, they banned my account for some reason, oh well. Good excuse for me not to waste $180 a year for grinding, I'll stick with Requiem for my grinding needs.

Pandas have basicly NOTHING to do with the lore, theyre just thrown in there of popular demand

i mean the panda place looks BEAUTIFUL, but from what i have SEEN -> pandas seems like a NEED MONNEH GOTTA DO SOMMING thing
MONK class? really? i have yet to see a monk in the universe of WC... nice one, why not arcane ranger etc "hero classes"? like DK

no, the failure of Cataclysm has made me realise, wow wont go up, it will go downward with emassive speed
and then us Diablo players will take the hit with real money transaction AHs...

Death Knights? Whatever. Pally is where it's at.

Theios - 77 Blood Elf Pally (Alleria)

It just seems like a joke, look at their trailer - its not as theatrical as there normal trailers and to my knowledge they haven't released a game page for an EP this soon. I mean, how soon are we to expect this? Sure, I'll order the game and probably play it - I just hope it is better than what it looks.

[edit] @Quik: I thought we were getting the Sea Witch class and the next EP would be Emerald Dream but obviously that was rumor.

American Warfare is still in development - it is currently postponed until I build up the skill to complete it.

Admittedly I was hoping for another hero class, but I'm gonna wait until it's released before I decide whether or not it's any good.

I know there's the odd Monk around in WoW already, but you don't see them THAT often, some dungeons for example. I think the new monk class is related to Pandaren Brewmasters from Warcraft III. I know with it Blizzard wrote Pandarens into the lore. But who knows, it might not be a big turd ball. I'm open minded and I don't think the idea is as bad as people are making out, but of course we'll know when it's released.

Though, I've not played THAT long. However, Zeus, I heard the same rumour and thought given some of its mystery that it'd be pretty cool as an expansion, but as far as I am aware Blizzard still have other expansions planned.

Lol, well to each his own, but I like killing Paladins - I know they're over powered, but not all of them are . They think they're all fancy with their healing spells and stuns, but not so fancy when they're dead. I've got a level 12 Pally Draenei, I've not actually settled on my Alliance class yet to be honest, but it is a tear up between Pally and Druid.

I personally prefer the Horde just because they aren't all humanoids. But hey, Pallys can kick some butt normally to just about every class but a rouge and really good DK (if the Pally knows what they are doing). My next class will probably be something that levels quicker for sure - pallys are slow.

I played WoW for four days before I stopped in the middle of a crossroads, looked at my Quests, and said, "Why am I paying every month to kill X of creature Y for item Z in four different quests? TF2 time..."

That's silly. Some people are far more dedicated to say...CoD than WoW. May be unhealthy for those being THAT dedicated, but is their choice.
I haven't played WoW for the better part of a year but I still have my account. Which is frozen of course but getting to level 85 isn't that big of a deal, very easy, took like 2 weeks. When I played I had triple exp up to 60 though so.. yeah.
No I admit I do love mmo's. And I had a good time playing it.

But have grown apart. Although I can see why people still play it. I also still watch Swifty and Athene videos when they come out, I've always been a hardcore pvp'er in every game I've played, so seeing the tactics and everything they do is really quite interesting to me

Pretty much what Rampage said. With anything in life you need to take things in moderation. As for becoming stale, a couple of things, it still attracts new players and the nature of an MMORPG is that it is pretty much constantly updated with new content. Some MMOs you might have expected to die out that pre-date WoW are actually still going pretty strong and getting new content, not as strong as WoW mind you.

True I am a huge nerd, and I know my stereotypes (and can disprove a good amount of them), but unhealthy aside, I just never saw how WoW survived on replay value alone...I mean since 2004 that same game has basically been re-released.

Well obviously Blizzard has the Activision touch.

WoW never ends is why. There is always something to do on there, new people to meet, duel, and something to learn imo. And no, the game has not been re-released, many elements of the game and Azeroth itself have changed and are continuing to change since Vanilla. Within each patch an element of the game changes, and it follows a storyline as well which changes the state of the game QUITE often to comply with it. New classes, races, talents, dungeons, etc make the game easy to get addicted to and play for years.

American Warfare is still in development - it is currently postponed until I build up the skill to complete it.

It's with the nature of an MMORPG, it actually doesn't end. New content is always being added. On top of which, you've actually got replay value, think like Morrowind or Oblivion in this sense - you can start a new character, new class and take a different path.

I need a Raid group actually, my guild was doing raids when I started, but at the moment they're just encouraging people to level the guild up and invite new people. A couple of my friends are on the server, both DPS and I don't mind tanking (in fact, tanking is pretty easy as DK), so it might be possible to form one.

What's with all these donkey avatars and signatures?

You all need to get some mountain bear avatars and signatures instead, to welcome the new world of tanks expansion that this thread is all about.

If you can't tell, the above is sarcasm.

Leveling up in really only 20% of the experience. The majority of the content happens around the time you are 80-85.

I used to play years ago, before any expansions. Those were the good old days, when only an estimated 10% of players ever saw the end of the easiest 40 man raid instance, where you actually had to put in effort to raid.

Anyway I was pretty good compared to people I was playing against, so I made some videos of me killing noobs: here and here.

So much fun, but then they repeatedly screwed things up so I quit. This was 5 years ago I can't believe it

I still get an adrenaline rush watching these videos again!! But times have changed, and pandas are stupid, really stupid.

Oh and its all about mages guys, probably the only class that required some degree of skill because there was so much crowd control.

I actually like tanking, but just don't like doing it in a dungeon I've not done, people always expect you to lead the way through and sometimes I ain't got the faintest clue, I think last time I ran into a boss, who I didn't think was a boss and we hadn't killed all of her friends, so were pretty much dead. At least the group were polite about it, but of course the pressure is on the tank to get it right, which is probably why it's harder to find a tank.

tanking is a pain if the people youre running with are a bunch of idiots: let them know its your first time, you might get kicked out but its better they know it, than you failing and then getting shouted at, if theyre NOT idiots/douches you will get taught how to deal with stuff in said dungeon
