Lol, that's something I got to look forward to, but I doubt it's as bad as doing group stuff in FFXI

nline, once you get through all of the bosses in endgame it becomes very dull and repetitive and spending hours upon hours of actually not doing anything in particular to get pieces of powerful armour and some powerful weapons.
I'll code this, because it's pretty long and not related to WoW, but something that probably ought to show that WoW isn't necessarily as bad as some other MMORPGs as far as "you're wasting your life". One thing I like about WoW is that the game isn't 'grind to the highest level and play the game' because that grind has you doing plenty and you don't feel you have to be a high level to get involved with anything with other players.
Tasks include: killing more than 1 lottery spawn monster than dies in 2 shots 3 times. A lottery spawn monster is one that appears at random, from between 2 hours up to 24 hours, if not more, it's good to get the time of death so you've got a chance, but you could be wasting hours just waiting for it to appear. After the second lottery spawn monster, I gave up, because it felt like a complete waste of time. That's for getting something called an Empyrean Weapon, which are your level 85, 90 and 95 weapons, the first stage is level 85, so to get it to first stage, you'll need to kill those lottery spawns, run through what's called 'Voidwatch', which means finding a big group of people and you have to kill more than one boss in Voidwatch a certain number of times, but they tend to be stage 2, so you have to beat stage 1 first, probably more than once, depending on your team. Once you've beaten all of them, you've got to collect 50 of 1 particular item, which drops from tough 'Abyssea' bosses, which requires a team of people - bear in mind with a team of people other people might be looting, sometimes 6+ for a team, depending on who you're fighting and they'll only drop 1 or 2 of the items, if you hit what's called a 'yellow trigger', to do that you'll need specific classes/jobs in your team (Ninja, Black Mage, White Mage, Blue Mage, Bard are needed to guarantee your yellow trigger, because you have what's called a 'subjob' system, you can specialise in a second job/class at half of your main job/class's level, so BlackMage/Bard, Blue Mage/Ninja works and you'd have a White Mage because due to how unbalanced things are, White Mage is the only useful healer. But still, you will need these classes/jobs in your group).
Then you'll need to do the same again, but for a Zone Boss, there's 8 zones in total, so you might have to gather your item from 1 of those 8 bosses. These tend to be a lot tougher than dungeon bosses in WoW and require a well balanced team and a battle plan, but also people with decent gear and skills (because FFXI requires you to level your skills too). Once you've got 50 of THOSE. Then you've got your first stage, a level 85 weapon, however, elitists in the game will consider you a 'noob' for having the level 85 weapon. Level 90 isn't as bad, you've just got to get 75 of an item that's highly sought after drops once or twice per battle if triggered, requires you to collect spawn items first (in fact, all of the 50 items and 75 bosses require you to collect items for each spawn) and of course the enemy isn't necessarily easy to take down, I joined somebody for one of these fights and we got out butts handed to us. Level 95, well I quit literally just as the patch came out, but from what I've read...that's an even bigger nightmare.
Bear in mind also, unlike dungeons in WoW, you're going to be competing with other groups of people for ANY monster or boss. Some spawned bosses will have 3 spawns at any one time, but most of the time not. Luckily for the lottery spawn ones, people will invite you to the group so you can get credit for the kill, that is...if they know you're there, some have quite large spawn areas, so you have to be actively looking during those hours.
Oh...might I add, you're a casual gamer if you've got 1 of these empyrean weapons, but Hardcore if you have several. Jeez, I didn't even get to my 4th lottery spawn monster, so not even a quarter of the way to the level 85 stage, I must be a noob.
