Hello fellow media makers,

I've been working on a box that has an opening/closing lid animation for the community, all done in Fragmo (including modeling), and I've run into a major problem. I UV mapped it and textured it just fine (thanks to Anayar for his tutorials ), but when I imported it to FPSC as a dynamic entity and put it in-game, the mesh is all warped - the lid hinge is at the base of the box, and all the sides slant down towards it (see attached image - the one on the left is when it is dynamic and warped, the one on the right is static and fine). The animation still plays just fine, though (the lid still "closes" and opens). If I make the box static, there is no mesh warping but, of course, the animation can't play.

Does anyone have a solution? I can post the box and all necessary files if needed.

This is my first piece of media I have made entirely by myself, and this is also the first time I have animated anything. I wanted to try to fix this on my own because, as said above, this was supposed to be a surprise gift for the community that has done so much for me and others. However, I can't seem to fix this problem on my own, so I am going to (yet again) ask the community for help.

Thanks,
Captain Coder

Sure, thanks. Just wish I didn't have to ask for help, especially since this was supposed to be a "thank you" gift to the community for helping me with many things.

One thing: I did try to put in a "root bone" of sorts, but that made the warping worse, and interferred with animation playback.

Thanks for helping me again,
Captain Coder

@Anayar:

Any update on it? I know you're particularly busy, but I would like to know when I can pull the download from my post

Thanks for helping,

Hey there CC,

Sorry it took me so long to respond... I only got a chance to take a look at that box yesterday :S
And Im sorry again that I cant tell you what was wrong with it... I just imported it into max and re-animated it, exported with the PandaExport plugin and it works like a charm Heres the fixed box, just extract to your Files folder. Oh and I created a separate script fro it, which is always a good thing just incase the user edits his/her dooropen script!

Anyways so sorry I couldnt be of more help... let me know if you need anything else.

No problem, happens to me as well.

Wonderful - I was hoping to learn how to make weapons using my new found animation knowledge, but I guess that won't be happening soon (at least not with Fragmo anyway, eh?)

You didn't have to reanimate it! The animation worked fine for me, it's just that the model was getting warped. Thanks anyway

I was using the dooruse.fpi script as a placeholder until I was finished troubleshooting the box, since the script achieves a relatively desireable effect.

Thanks for all the help. I'll keep looking at it and see if I can come up with anything.

Oh, and how's the weapon's pack coming?

Thanks again,
Captain Coder

EDIT

It appears that the download doesn't work oh well, I'll keep trying
