See, I logged off, came back later and I've been attacked and have won 5 times. I check my PvP list and yet I can't attack anyone. Must be a bug.

if you won all the fights then the people attacking you would be dead, so you couldn't challenge them, just bribe the barkeep if you want a fight!

yeah all you guys got action after i did... check the news i was with violet like 7 times before anyone else, and no one did it prior to me making Page

and you can fight people higher level, once you're the next level.
but how it all works is weird - i think you can only fight people upto 3 levels below you, but over lvl5/20days unless your replaying the game.

you know if anyone does wanna make an FF front, perhaps recode it a bit to that effect - then i'd be happy to make the artwork for it
just getting a bit sick and tired of coding again, so hard to sit back and just admire the work you've finished coding without finishing some admiring type of work lol

I have a feeling a parody of final fantasy wouldn't go down too well with its fans and would be lost on those who weren't (like me). I prefer the current style, which pokes fun at fantasy gaming in general.

not really mouse, as this is what Fantasy games were like 20years ago before MMORPGs hit the scene in '95 with Meridian59

there has never been a 2D mmorpg ... well not in the truest sense as in SNES Final Fantasy games.
learn something new everyday, eh

i'd recommend if you wanna know more about them all GameSpy will be publishing Week8/8 of thier MMORPG special.
Has been a good read and alot of history that i'm quite proud to say i've been part of ^_^

there are generally not alot of users who can honestly put up thier hands and say that they've been using the Internet since the later 80s or before. It's nice to know you were at the birth of a revolution that is only just becomming popular.

Er... I never said anything about MMORPGs in my above post.

And Meridian 59 is pretty 2d, seeing as it used a Doom-style rasterizer engine with sprite graphics. But it appeared 3d.

thats my point Mouse,
Meridian59 - Ultima Online - Lineage

they were all 2D, but they were trying to emulate 3D... whereas the SNES Style Final Fantasy games weren't.
And to an extent, although Grandia has 3D worlds it was still a very much traditional 2D RPG

Ahh I remember that game! I was one of the first beta testers and have my characters name listed in the first edition manual when it went commercial

As for PvP fights - the original Legend allowed you to fight anyone the same level - 2 below you. So Level 5 challenging a Level 1 would receive a sarcastic comment but a L5 vs L3 would be allowed. You can attack anyone higher than you, if you don't know their level (you can research them in the dark tavern) then be wary. Lots of people have tried to kill me (poor fools)

Cheers,

Rich

LOL, sometimes I just love this game:

Coming off of a hangover, you lose 1 forest fight today."

Congrats to Pet Rat for haunting me

It's good to see people at Level 13 already - won't be much longer before we have our first (real) dragon slayer

Cheers,

Rich

what worries me Rich is Seth hates me for being the best looking guy in the world, yet Violet thinks now we're hitched that i'm not exactly the same as what was on the tin

and Rich check again, several of us have already slain the beastie once ^_^ alot of Pages around, hehee
Omega was the first, closely followed by moi ... not sure who was third, yesterday and today saw around 8 people succeed.

Omega will probably be able to cap the beastie again soon though.

Just in case you didn't know, Meridian 59 is still alive and running . There's a new world renderer in the works too.

I still have no idea what you mean about the MMORPGs, Raven, or why you brought that point up, but what the heck .

I can't remember who I've killed or how many times anymore. As a page I think I did more PvP than forest fights (I didn't lose too many of them either ). I think I'm going to quickly become everyone's favorite target though. I've already received a few hate mail messages. LOL!

I would hope. Anyway, interaction like that is one of the best parts of the game. I got a good laugh out of a couple messages that I got and sent a few gems myself. If it wasn't for that (and being so far up on the food chain) I'd be bored with the game by now.

Not very dramatic considering the short timespan of game days... two forest fights and a PvP fight would make more sense... *shrug*

Rich can always change this, i mean he is still working on the forum tie in.
Perhaps you could ask him to sort out a more predictable battle system?

i'm sure everyone has thier own wish for the enhancements that could be made

You gotta slay the dragon to lose everything except your horse and gems and extra abilities, that means you lose the money in the bank.

I have an idea [snicker]

if anyone is close to level 15 and is expecting to slay the dragon, send your money to me. I will hold this and give it to you again when you are level 1 again and only keep a 5% fee.

so whattaya think?

Hmm, sounds like it would work but unfortunately I've already lost it all lol.

The problem is though, is for me to be able to attack that player they must be at least Level 10, then when I respawn I would be Level 1, I'd have to build up a lot just to get my gold back anyway.
