What about games? What game loads in two seconds? Or am I misunderstanding this?

I think it's just between the time the user clicks the icon to launch and when they see something happening.

Have you ever wondered why apps take so long to do things when they're showing the "loading bar" and stuff? This may be of interest : http://thedailywtf.com/Articles/Fruity-Loop.aspx

which is fine for smaller apps, for one of bigger scale... I see no reason for the 2sec limit

If you launch an application and it takes ages to show any sign of activity it can give the impression that your machine (or OS, more impotantly) is slow and unresponsive. If it's as Jerico2Day says then I see nothing wrong with having to show some activity within the first 2 seconds of launch.

And of course, I can't imagine MS want a (nother) service that has a reputation for having a load of sluggish, unresponsive programs. They've already got that reputation.

So microsoft want developers to have continuously updating splash screens that only serve to slow down loading times?

Shh... you're pretty.

If your splash screen has any noticeable impact on loading times you're doing something wrong.

If it's single threaded it does have a minimal impact.

For all I know. I'm keeping my windows 7 computer and building up a computer and planning to boot Ubuntu with it. Going to format my GX280 and put in maybe puppy linux in it.

iirc, Visual Studio won't be sold through the app store anyway. I agree with the time limit thing. It's not ridiculous. Loading up an entire interface so you can edit one line of code is pretty retarded anyway... especially if half the features aren't being used. They should be loaded in as necessary. At least, that's my opinion anyway.

EDIT: Oh hey, there's a whole other page here. Sorry, I was responding from what I saw on the first page (100 messages per page for me).

Cheers,
Aaron
