Well, I am working overtime this year, about 6-18 months ago I said, 2013 is going to be a big year for me... indeed it appears to be the case, and I aim to hit that mark too...

I have so many projects on hand, that I am slowly adapting a project management tool to my processes... but the last time I logged in was about a week or so ago...

But yeah, I looked at the market and saw I did not want a silly 'Tablet' per se... and the basic Surface would not cut it... I need a portable Desktop and it HAS to have Desktop Windows mode... [DBP / GDK.NET coding on the go yeah!]... hence the only option for me is the Surface Pro... I believe it will feature an i7!

And regarding mobiles... I am fed up with Elgoog and feel they are failing their own products... just my view... and I love Outlook so much that it is frankly the sole reason I am getting a Windows phone 8, as Emails are a key aspect of my life at the moment, given the forum currently plays a massive part in my reading... but I have a plethora of reading outside of here, it must be said...

I am forced to buy at minimum a mac Mini, but I am thinking to aim for a MacBook Pro, as I see little use for wasted devices being brought in, that's what the PSOne and 2 are doing at present... due to lack of a Telly [or S-Video/Component inputs], the reason for the Mac is that I have demand from a key business partner who wishes me to undertake a project targeting iPhone users... and iPad... so looks like I will have to buy one of those too unless my aforementioned partner is able to drop theirs off for a while...

Quote: "you're richer than I am!"

Richer / Poorer, I did not have this thought in my mind when I bought a homeless guy some food the other day on my way home from my shop [Was and still is bloody freezing at the moment here in Manchester] and handed it to him [after asking is he ate chicken first of course]... Money has no value in my eyes, sorry... but that is the fact, I value the views and opinions of those around me, and if I managed to end the day making someone happy, I am satisfied... that is I.

And I value the good nature of others, hence why I look up to you Daniel!

Yep the new macbook pro range looks good, plus developing with AppGameKit on a retina display would be a boon. I can't believe how thin that new macbook pro is. I wonder how they ca going to top it next year.

Here's a core i7 Mac, as thin as a credit card!

Really?

Hm, I have no qualms with the devices, just the people running the company...

But thought about getting the MacBook Pro as it will give me something to use just for blogging etc... and then XCODE etc... with a bit of a power kick hopefully... Will be handy to impress new clients too... for some reason many people see designers using a Mac as a sign of superiority... 'sigh'

For a long time apples reputation didn't lay in consumer products but media markets and designers. I think a lot of that reputation still remains, though it's a lot less deserved these days. Apples recent decisions to support consumers over the artists who supported them through their less popular days has lead to anger in the industry.

Having said that, garage band on the iPad is pretty astounding. I used omnigraffle on the iPad for some of this books illustration as well. It's the best charting software I've ever used. I can't deny that in terms of quality apps for iPad outstrip both android and windows RT platforms easily. I'd even go so far omnigraffle beats most desktop alternatives.

This one was not that long, maybe an hour at most...

lol, don't worry it's about 9 pages at the moment, shouldn't be much more than 12 by the time I finish. That will mark the middle of the book, after that I'm writing primer II's and proceeding to the final example.

I purchased the early access for the ebook and sent you an email with my google email address. Like I mentioned in my email to you, I plan to up it a little later on to have access to the videos.

I purchased AppGameKit when it first came out but figured it was time now to start learning it. I think my problem is I was spoiled by the other languages I develop in like C# since I love OOP. I figure I should still be able to realize a lot of my game ideas with AGK.

Thanks.

C# isn't currently a natively supported language for AGK.

But it does support C++ (and I have been able to do sooooo much more with my game because of OOP).

I will probably drop into C++ when the Basic AppGameKit language doesn't meet my needs. I think for my first game it should be fine. The next one will most likely require C++.

I wanted to ask if the book will eventually cover the upcoming (or even beta) 3D commands? That would be awesome.

Yes indeed, Tier 1 is purely BASIC but if you have previous C++ experience you can use all that knowledge with Tier 2. However Tier 1 is worth learning if for no other reason than it's a fantastic prototyping tool and Tier 1 code is pretty easy to move from Tier 1 to Tier 2.

Thanks for the donation, I've added you to the google drive system now. It's good timing I'm just writing up the first example for this section, so you'll be getting the first half of the book.

@Impetus73

It's manually created with excel and I've just not updated the graphic, sorry been too busy writing! I've just updated the graphic now. The current pot stands at £299.61 of £599

@StevenP

The 3D side of things will almost certainly turn up in volume 2, if for no other reason then they are not finalized yet. Beta's are always subject to change, and I feel it's better to write around finalized versions of AppGameKit rather than trying to keep up withe beta updates.

But don't worry I'm also excited by 3D commands and as soon as I'm competent with them myself I'll write about it.

@Everyone else!

Chapter six is now online, I hope you enjoy it. This brings the middle of the book to a close.

Chapter Six: Program course I is now online.

I've expanded Chapter 4's section on REM statements to include commenting blocks of text and using symbols instead of the commands.

I gave Chapters 1 & 2 a quick look-over and I like the simplicity. I'll dive deeper when I have more time.

I saw you are planning HD tutorials and have a request. Can you please subtitle them for the deaf/hard of hearing like myself? I have come across many instructional video without any form of captioning, and have been completely lost.

Cheers for this project. I'll add more to the pot next month.
