You can't register because we havent yet added it.

@Chris Knott: I have downloaded your game. I must say it is quite a fun game for such a simple idea. I will transfer it to the server and write a review for it.

Will you be reviewing articles? Because it wouldn't be too great if any Joe Schmoe wrote one that was of very poor quality.

Hmm lets give the register page a test run. For some unknown reason it wont work for me, because my browser thinks www.dbg.excaver.com doesnt exist(it only happens for me and megaton). So everyone go and register! I'll add the pages for submiting reviews and stuff later.

It might be better to just let users comment on the given review... just my thought.

For some unknown reason both registering pages had incorrect URL addresses in them. I have now fixed everything and it should work fine.

That URL didn't work but I could access it from:

http://www.excaver.com/dbg/register.htm

Although there was no direct link there on the site, I had to manually type it in. The registration form worked fine as well and apparently I'm registered.

However, now I don't know how to login or what I can do with my registration lol.

So try it out. And we are currently working on a form where you can can submit your written work. Untill then email EVERYTHING to
megaton@excaver.com(it works now)

And if all else fails then just use old-fashioned email

thanks, I'm of to write stuff.

Nice job with the site Megaton and Petrat. Like someone mentioned earlier, there needs to be a set format for your reviews. Also, the pictures need to be small thumbnails, because making them big is annoying, and doesn't contribute much to the review.

Anyways, nice job with the site, and I'll keep checking on it's progress.

Why thank you Yellow,

And yes, we are trying to figure out this "format" for the reviews you guys mentioned.

Quote: "Also, the pictures need to be small thumbnails, because making them big is annoying, and doesn't contribute much to the review."

Well...maybe. Alot of people are telling me that latly, personally I have no idea what's so bad about it, everyone does it. But since user feedback IS importent, I'll see what I can do. (Will probably be changed after we "move" the site to a new location)

thanks

oh and I recently added the downloads and articles. See if there is anything you want to add. And I made a small "world of DBP" colum next to the reviews/previews. Anyway I have to get rid of my silly sig and make a proper one, see ya.

Nice site PetRat and Megaton...

A few suggestions:

1. When signing up, the fields and text are all out-of-whack, just needs to be re-alligned so that the start of all

the fields are on the same verticle line ( if you get me ) like:

2. For the High-Scores table's etc, what i suggest you impliment is a mySQL database.
The way scores would be added would be through a form;

* The user selects the game ( from a pre-set list of available games )
* The user is then told which files store the high-scores on their computer
* Make the user upload the high-score file to your ftp through a html uploader ( as part of the form )
* They click send which would gather their user details ( their member nickname mainly ) and the high-score file and send it in an email to you for authenticity check.
* Then you simply add it to the database ( would need to be done daily to keep up-to-date ) which is viewable through a High-Scores page for the users.

3. I also suggest you impliment a mySQL database of all your reviews, as this will allow easy searches and easier location of particular reviews etc when the site grows to have hundreds of reviews/previews etc...

4. For the format of the reviews, I suggest somethign like:

5. To submit reviews, I suggest a form that is split into parts ( each part being one of the catergories in the example structure i gave above ) such as;

Hope That Helps...

PS Sorry about the long post... It's just that I think that this site would be really usefull, and a huge success if you work out the bugs at the very start to prevent later disapointment if you have to re-design the entire system... Thanks...

Hey JessTicular, thats very generous of you!
I especially liked that format for the reviews you made! Thanks, it could really help us, I'll have to rewrite some of the reviews to fit into that, but there might also be the possiblity of the site moving to a smaller location...so I have to think of that...but thank you! Your help is really appriciated.

About the SQL stuff...PetRat should be along soon to say his word...(I hope he isn't sick of me yet) because he takes care of the technical stuff like this...

thanks again JessTicular,

Hey, it's cool megaton... Just giving my bit and byte to the community...

I tryed to base the the review format on something that would be easy to understand and usefull for people who either want to get an indepth review or for those that just want a quick review and a score...

Yeah, I figured that PetRat would have to handle the mySQL side of the set-up along with the forms an the like ( getting member information etc )

It's like I said:
Quote: "It's just that I think that this site would be really usefull, and a huge success if you work out the bugs at the very start to prevent later disapointment if you have to re-design the entire system... "

I only have one mySql database and its being used by the forums. Ages ago I worked out the high score system so i'll worry about that while u go what u do....

Quote: "2. For the High-Scores table's etc, what i suggest you impliment is a mySQL database.

I have already worked out a better way of implementing a score system.
