It's not cluttered because I know where to go for every single program I need I run my main apps on the first monitor and then I've got my email client + Winamp + FTP always open on my second monitor.

Wallpaper is from the game Duality.

The only icons on my desktop are those I use frequently. I have quite a lot more installed than you can see, but then who doesn't.

Cheers,

Rich

You want neat freak? You should see my desktop. The only icons I have displayed are "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", "My Network Places", and "My documents". Everything else is thrown inside a "My Desktop" folder, each icon categorized as a game, program, project, etc, LOL

I started up one morning and half of my desktop had disappeared

And it wasn't XP's paranoid deesktop clearer either, that was the first thing to go when I reinstalled XP

I have 0 icons on my desktop on both Windows and Linux, I just use Aston's and XFce's docking panels respectively. Icons just get in the way of my desktop winamp visulisations .

Absolutely! Halo more than Tourny though. You'll find me on Halo servers most nights for a quick blast (or a longer one if the mood takes me). UT I mostly play against the bots.

mm3zct - I can't stand your wallpaper, but your desktop is great I guarantee most people will look at it and go "what a mess?!" but you're actually using the desktop in the way in which it was intended. Like me, you store files you're currently working on, things you need to get at quickly, etc. Just like a real desk. Most people don't and just have app icons (if at all) and then spend half their life clicking around Explorer windows locating the things that matter - the actual files

Rich

I agree with that Rich.
I have most of my current stuff right under the programming or job directory on my desktop.
My wallpaper is a photo of an acrylic painting that I did a few years back.

Here's a question:

Does anyone know if there is a way to save the location of icons on your desktop?

The reason I ask is that I often have to change to 800 x 600 (for reasons I don't need to go into) and then of course, the icons are moved because they no longer fit where they were. When I change back to 1600 x 1200 they are still in the position of the smaller desktop.

Can I save their positions whilst in the large desktop and then reload when I come back?

Thanks

The image is of 'Aphrodites Rock' between Limassol and Paphos in Cyprus (about 10 mins drive from my house )

Notice 3 of his HDD's are aply named "Movies" and another "Media", it's not hard to fill up 480 gig with ripped movie files in the form of ISO's or images. I just hope they're legal.

I got rid of the backup section when I got my computers If you need to re-install Windows, then its best to do it properly and not from the pre-supplied backup..

How can you hate lemmings?

I used to hate it when I was young and foolish and I didn't realise that the mouse wouldn't go where I wanted it because it was filthy!

But now with optical mice (mouses?, meece?) Lemmings has got to be great .... surely?

The philistines were a relatively innocent civilization that was completely slaughtered and remains today as essentialy only an example of how complete genocide can be in the hands of fanatics .

Lemmings was okay, but waaay too frustrating for me. Puzzles have never been my thing.
