I never said it didn't exist, I just said we don't use it. As in, it's not commonly used, as in, it's not marked in on rulers or measuring devices, as in, it's never ever used at all. lol.

Sorry that's completely wrong!
liter is to incate a volume, and kilogram is a measure for the mass (NOT gravity: on the moon everything has the same mass (so kg doesn't change ) as on earth (ppl always confusing ) gravity is given in Newton (N) or kilopont (kp) which changes from planet to planet )

you probably wanted to wright:

1 liter of water ^=1 kilogram

lol probably no one is interested in that

12 years of schooling and you still can't spell color. Until you start pronouncing it 'col-oor' (god forbid), the U is an unneccesary appendage that has no purpose. Get with the times

Uhh, actually we all do here in *my* part of Canada (west-side). All the roads use kilometres and metres, the hospitals all use kilograms, my driver's license has me @ 183cm, and we buy 2 and 3-litre bottles of pop.

Just within friends we might use pounds and feet in conversation, but technically nobody does.

Oh, and for those who don't know, pop is the carbonated drink you yankees call soda

Believe it or not, not all "yanks" call it soda. Down south, everything is coke. Everything. Even if it's pepsi. Further north, they call it pop (I have relatives in Michigan). I live in Pennsylvania and we call it soda.

I always thought of "pop" to be a low-browed expression. Look at it this way...it's like if a caveman saw a volcano, and it exploded, he'd call it "boom", just based on what it does. Lol.

But yeah, Dictionary dot come says that the term is "Chiefly Northeastern U.S., Eastern Missouri, & Southwestern Illinois." Who knew?

Yes, weigh a liter of water, you'll find it equals 1 kilogram. Hence the genious of the metric system, it makes calculations EXTREMELY easy.

actualy more numbers will divide into base 12 (2,3,4,6) than base 10 (2,5), so imperial measurement facilitates division of standard quantitys (also ... ever wondered why cases hold 12 or 24 bottles?)

Mentor.

PS mines 485, flat, and 1280x1024 pixels, so there "

PC1: P4 hyperthreading 3ghz, 1gig mem, 2x160gig hd`s, ATI radeon 9800 pro gfx, 6 way surround sound, PC2: AMD 1.2ghz, 512mb ram, FX5200 ultra gfx, stereo 16 bit soundblaster, ups.

@HZence - Thanks for clearing that up

Now that we're on the topic of Canadians vs. Americans, is it true that if you order an ice tea in a restaurant in the states they'll give you a LITERAL non-sweetened tea? Up here it's a sweet drink that tastes like cold tea with tons of sugar.

I drive across the border about every 2 weeks, I think I'll go across to a restaurant and order an iced tea next time :p Then again, I probably won't....

But the conversion is much more difficult. With base 10 you can easily just add or remove 0's when converting.
