Looks like it was rendererd in some package like 3ds max The in game won't be that good (no offence big brother ).

The game looks really good, reminds me of the original Merc.

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments, the model was created by SGT Koolaid for Snow Island in 3ds max.

David T, true, the render is in 3D max and DBPro will not be able to display it as good, glad you like the look of the game, see you all tomorrow with the trailer.

hhaha i wish it was able to do unreal 3 graphics, if so id go loco with the meshes, and textures. I am pretty much limited to the performance of the engine. But it has amazing loopholes if your smart, hell just by adding a seperate camera and tying my view to it i was able to go from like 38 fps to around 220+ fps in my game before ( sad to say) my HD crash came to be. level was at round 35,000+ polys had a jeep market place and a mosque and saveral buildings and static objects ( look on my website basically) while the M4 with the hand was at around 6,500 polys so either way its all about coding. the lighthouse despite the bumpmapping wieghs in around 3,020 polys maybe a bit less. but like i said its all about texturing, and coding to increase performance and visual clarity.
As far as bumpmapping ill have to make a seperate texture set to enable the bumpmapping. but we can work on that when we have something more concrete and playable for right now. I am currently working on a gen lab facility and series of offices and labs for this game should wiegh in a lot more and be more detailed since ill be using more UVW map modifiers to unwrap the models properly this will allow for far more detailed environments than u seen lately. stay tuned the fun has yet to begin!

Excellent trailer bigbrother

I agree that the walking is a little jerky, almost as if he's always climbing a hill. Perhaps you could spare a few more frames of animation to give a more fluid movement. Same with the shooting, perhaps the soldier should be able to hold fire rather than always looping through the animation (If it's a shotgun though, looping through the animation would be fine).

Nice work with this big brother, I enjoyed beware of the moon, and will enjoy this I'm sure.

It's good and all, but that walking REALLY breaks the mood. The musics going fast, fast ,fast, and meanwhile the guy's just truging along.

im gonna help him with the animations, as well as msking him a new soldier. with charater studio biped/bone rigging system.( got a friend who can do that part) gonna be around 2,000-3,500 poly soldier model with 512x512 or 1024x1024 photorealistic textures. should start next week on that soldier model.

perhaps even some mo cap in it if i can pull it off.(debateable at this point talking to my friend)

OOh that was cool. I can tell where you got the first bit of music, but what about the second part? The cinematic feel you're giving it is really neat. Another thing to recommend, instead of having the guy go back and forth between walk form and shoot form how about making it so that as soon as you press the shoot button he goes into the shoot form and stays and you are free to shoot more. Once you press the arrow key or whatever he resumes his walking form.

Ya, like he shoots like sidways and then goes back to walking again.
Thats kind of weird, just fix that and it will definitly improve the feel for the game, by the great music!

The trailer is incredibly good Really created a sense of atmosphere.

Nice use of the LOTR music by pure coincidence, I hvae teh cd in my drive right now. What's it name? Which filem?

You created Beware the Moon? I remember playing that ages ago. Well done!

The initial snow level with the slowly rotating helicopter blades really emphasises the atmosphere.

Great stuff.

Yeah, very very nice, the levels look really great, and again, I think the only place it falls down is with the animations on that model. Is the animation stolen from captain constipated ? Also, the gun shooting animation needs to be improved so he holds his gun out while he's shooting and doesn't keep bringing it back in between shots, it just generally looks weird.

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

Is the m16 automatic ingame?
(also...when the guy is standing make him hold the gun in a ready to fire position. I don't think he would always be in an idle pose while running away from a huge ass monster.)

Heres some screenshots showing the shadows with the new 5.5 patch, these are optional in the game as they do affect frame rate slightly.

Oh yeah, like those new shadows. The DBP's older shadow casting features resulted in something that was somewhat....fake looking.

Yeh i agree with you BCDP, the shadows are better in this update, although sometimes theres little problems like double shadows for some reason, may just be my graphics card or it may not be fully fixed in 5.5.

Anyone else care to comment on the Trailer, i appreciate time given to give feedback.

David T is right that the first section of the Full Length Trailer is LOTR then it changes to Requiem For A Dream, which was in the Two Towers trailer but not actually featured in the LOTR movies. Can anyone guess where the Teaser Trailer music is from lol

Looking at the textures i'd say you need to up the brightness and lower the contrast to make everything look a little frosty as the objects look clean and warm.

Well i played it, for a few minutes.

The Animations definetly need to be fixed, the running is not running he is frolicing and jumping and shooting himself in the span of 1 ms with that running animation .

The controls, i hate. I prefer Default strafing when using WASD keys. And i didn't liek the fact that when a i pressed "D" i ran forward.

But yeah, i can't wait to see the game as a full.

well its a beta guys so there is to be certain things that go screwy here and there. it worked for my computer quite nicely with no hiccups. for those who arent sure of the way u should install it. here is as follows take the zip make a folder snowisland then put the exe in it, then open the snowisland folder and make another folder within it "Models" and put the ar18, soldier, and soldier.x in it, it should run fine then.

but give the game a try should run relatively stable despite the few errors here and there. remember afterall its a beta and things are to be expected as such. I am busy working on models for beta 2 which should give the game a major facelift. Also im redoing the soldier all together for those who complained about the animation so i am working as we speak, already finished the model, gonna texture it and animate it next. Bigbro is gonna be taking a bit of time off from this game since he worked alot on the beta 1. So in the meantime IM gonna be working on the modeling for beta 2 so as to get it ready for its upcoming release. ill be sending big bro snap shots and renders of updated models etc, ive done for you all to take in. be patient and enjoy the beta 1 the fun has yet to begin

Yes!!!!!
Downloading...........

Played for about 15 minutes. The level design is a huge step up from BTM, I only made it just inside the visitor's center, but looking around the corner for the visitor's center, then looking for the key in the light house made so much sense.

The only problem is that it killed my computer. I've only got a 1.3ghz Celeron and a Geforce 2 MX 400, the fps was nearly unbearable. Unfortunately I forgot to check the options and control config before I started up the game. My recommendation is to have the option to dumb it down all the way to 640x480x16, and be able to turn off the snowflakes. Sometimes the game would run really smooth, but then it would all of a sudden lag unbelievably. Have you looked into forced timing?
