Lots of points:

1. This post is not to complain. I want to find out what is going on. I personally agree with Jimmy.

2. In the newspage on dbspot it says you will let several people carry on using it. I was wondering who these people are.

3. Obviously, I can't access phpMyAdmin, so I can't backup my tables. Jimmy can you send a structure and table dump to me, or allow me access if you haven't wiped it.

Thank You for the service you performed until now

I knew it wouldn't last (how can you finance that?!? ) but I think it's a bit stingy just shutting it down, not even letting people know or let them take backups.

Alot of people will now be dead in the water.

yeah, it's going to just sit there.

N30, you should be able to access it with http://www.dbspot.com/pulse/

subdomains are being stupid, but I'll keep looking into them.

a very fast one, if you wrote a server script to make a file, uploaded that, then ran it, it would make the file real fast (assuming it would work )

Or you can just pay about $8/month for unlimited space, bandwith, emails, etc., like me from mideem.com. After using Tripod, Geocities, etc., I figured that the price is more than worth it.

Heh, I mean, has anyone ever seen a big red "x" for my sig?

Best of Luck with whatever you fill your time with now, Jimmy. Your generosity has served many of us well.

Quote: "...for unlimited space, bandwith"

There's no such thing as unlimited bandwidth! Whenever you see this, read the smallprint. It always reserves the right to pull the plug, and they generally do at around 5 gig (but varies from host to host).

For people who have lost important files..why did you put your important data on a free host!?

If anyone needs their website hosted I'd be more than happy to give you some space on http://www.omega-basic.com

For those looking for a very professional solution ideal for distributing games with I use http://www.vapournet.com.

Prices start at £12 per year with more features in that than any hosting service I have seen at that price.

Recently Vapourhost started the hosting of the Banshee Studios site which shifted over 280gb in the last 6 weeks and it still runs at full speed and the support has been excellent.

I should of course declare the vapourhost sponsor the Banshee team but I also use them as a customer on 3 other sites and can report happily that vapourhosts are better web hosts than I am a coder !
