Hi all,

In a strange bought of nostalgia I have spent the past few hours going through all of my back-up CDs and restoring all of the DarkBASIC web sites onto my hard drive. I have all site designs from September 2000 (and onwards), all of the news files / content that we ever placed on the site going right back to the very start (August 1999) and every single forum post ever made. I have even found the original UBB installation and all files / user accounts, then all of the Phorum ones.

It's quite a massive amount of stuff, some of it extremely funny Photos of Lee and Rick walking around E3, the "cut out and make your own DB pyramid", the pics from the "24 hour game making" day for PC Gamer, newspaper clippings, a weird AVI of Lee eating the camera while muttering something about cookies (don't ask) and plenty more.

I did resurrect all of this for a reason however and fully intend to build it into the new release of the TGC web site. For now I am attaching a screen grab of the old old old forums. Perhaps the pyramid thing too Notice some of the forum topics that are still going on today ("db community game", "uv mapping help", etc) and some of the old names too! Interesting, TDK Man was the only moderator back then - kudos dude!

Cheers,

Rich

Here is the "make your own DB pyramid" file for those that asked me for it on MSN Original news item follows:

Make your own Dark Basic pyramid model! 27th September 2000

Dark Basic Software Ltd is proud to announce the FREE DIY Dark Basic Pyramid model kit! Simply download the following JPEG file and follow these easy instructions:

1. Cut around the dotted lines using some scissors.
2. Fold the edges of the pyramid and the white tabs.
3. Paste some paper glue into the areas labeled 'Glue'
4. Stick all the tabs together

You should end up with something looking like this:

Now place the pyramid on top of your PCs monitor. Hopefully it will encourage you and bring you creative ideas!

Mini-Compo

Here's a mini-compo for you all Print-out the pyramid, make it and post a photograph of it in the most amusing place you can. The winner can have any one of the current DBPro plugins free (your choice, if you don't have DBPro, you get that too).

Cheers,

Rich

Made my model!

Egypt if you squint really hard.

Pyramid meeting some old friends.

Now contemplating taking pyramid for whirlwind tour of London's landmarks this weekend! Need to make a collapsable version though as current one doesn't really fit in my pocket.

When does the competition end, as your post didn't say?

Also the prizes, when you say 'The winner can have any one of the current DBPro plugins free' does this include all plugins listed http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?f=enhance? [ie. BlueGUI also up for grabs]?

And my third and final question, any limit on how many times we can enter?
