One more thing about mmorpgs and so on...

We've seen 3 different mmorpgs submitted to us, each had been in development for about 3 years by a full team of coders, artists, designers etc etc. Each one of these dev teams needed over £100k to finish up the project and further additional costs. (Still leaving the publisher to do marketing, server setup, manufactring etc which isn't cheap.)

If you don't have 3+ years, over £300k (for a cheap nasty mmorpg!) and a full pro dev team to hand, don't bother trying to make an mmorpg.

As an extra note, as of today all three mmorpgs have not been signed for publishing and the chances are they will never see the light of day - even pro's struggle to break into this genre.

It's Cobol (Cobalt is a element), and yes, I have a BA Degree in CIS (which I was forced to learn Cobol and DB2 Mainframe Programming using ROSCOE), but that was over 14 years ago...

Hey folks, settle down. Ambition is a good thing remember.

Why everyone wastes there time poking fun at a 12 year old is what really made me laugh though...

Not aiming my statement at anyone in particular.

Would rather just let this thread float to the bottom, until some screenshots come.

chocolate, or that hudson ice cream the honeycomb one with the maltesers. that one be the bomb diggetty. and im sure all this guy wanted to do was create some intrigue and make us go oooh i wonder what the game is! etc, but i'm sure he did not realize just how many times we've heard of the leet mmorpg coming from new people,though i for one am not saying lets give him a break burn the heretics i say. if you're going to claim you're making some fantasmical game show some evidence of prior experience, don't jsut say oh i've done so many years of c++, how the hell do we know you have, i could say i boned paris hilton, though very likely, i dont have the proof to back it up these days. show us what you've worked on in these past years so we can see that you're not some punk foreign kid who thinks he's top stuff.

Punk foriegn kid? Im not sure what the full meaning of that mey be. However i am to you as I live in a different country. And I see people doubt my C expirience which I completely understand why you do, I mean its strange for a kid to come out and make something that is deemed almost impossible. But I ask you , Where the Pong Creators a major production team when they started? Who revived the gaming industry? Two 13 year olds with a educational computer! (Ive researched this topic for years!

p.s was it c or c++ that introduced /* *\ remarks ? just curious

You little site says it can't display the picture because it has "errors". Maybe if you could convert it to a web-friendly format like .jpg like the millions of other web users out there, then maybe we'll shut up about it.

Everybody loves to poke the weakest guy Including me

When I started thinking about programing games I had tons of ideas,
and I actually spent years in front of PC and only then I fully understood how hard it is to make a finished game, not only cube on the matrix or "proof of concept"

Dark Game SDK is an SDK of DarkBASIC for C++. If you really want to konw about it go to the product info page. Also, that screenshot isn't showing mcuh other than that you can build a world that's got a castle. Let's see some screens showing something happening.

I see its a c program, nice ill look into it, I wonder if its as powerful as other c compilers though? also i put that one up because I haven’t any more space to put screen shots but i think i found a way to put a picture without my ftp space. I’m going to make a small demo available by the 15th of January and more screen shots
(especially the interface) And some action shots by the 10th.

DBCe = 2 1/2 years
HTML = 5 years
PHP / MySQL = 2 years
JavaScript = 1 year

I could say I have experience in C++ but I wouldnt call making a DirectX message box or copy + pasting a OGL tutorial actual programming experience, which I assume is what you have. You can ask tons of people here, I've been here a long time. I have a pretty good reputation. I'm a decent coder who doesn't get a whole lot done but has learned to work in teams to get it done. I once was like you. I got flamed. I learned to use that to raise my sanity level. Just figure out where you are, ok? Don't get too far ahead of yourself.

Oh, and BTW wanna see an example of one of my websites? http://eternaldestinyonline.com/NewWebsite/ Click on the picture.

I almost pissed my self when I read that, you have NO idea how stupid that sounds. Like god said "let there be light", and there was light. then he said "let this 12 year old kid finish his MMORPG", and the kid was flamed in TGC forums.

So Manticore Night, what gives you the right to poke fun at other people, why do you have to hinder someones progress, can't you just get on with your own life?

I get programming natrully from my father, he taught me all i know which is why its easy for me, he has quite a bit of expirience. He started with fortran, thats the oldest programming language of them all incase you dont know, it was no easy task.

Ok, guys, before we get in to politics
Let's hear some facts -

Mr. Administrator,
1. How many connections will your game support?
2. How big your world will be in DB units (also please let us know camera height)

Thank you.

My first C++ programme printed Hello World! on the screen, never got much further .
My dad helped me out when I started in DB, he could still remember things he'd learnt on his Speccy, seriously though, it's a massive help having someone to help first hand when you get stuck.
Have you managed to make any progress with the game Sage Tech?

EDIT::
Quote: "How big your world will be in DB units (also please let us know camera height)"

Woah, you'd have to have done some major planning if you knew how big the game world was going to be in DB units right from the word go, I normally just go with the flow.

thank you for the questions sir I apriciate that we can get back int the game so:

1. I will eaither inlist the use of dll's or my as I mentioned earlier merging to different langauges into one aplication, which means that I could inlist the help of java aplet capababilities. In this and calculations I will have just 1 server to begain with as I want to see if this game becomes a hit before sinking in to much money. this first server with the help of a java aplet or dll can amount to the game allowing about 2000 connections at first. (I plan not to use direct play which is provided in dark basic becouse it falls short of what I need. As I said I already have 1 server ready to for this.

2. This is still up for debate, but the map is planned to be a good size. My program will be a 3rd person game. That is for sure

id be happy to answer any more questions and i will answer this first question when it comes availible.
