I have some C++ experience. The most C experience I have is a book called "Windows Visualization in C" which was an intro to 3d in C (which i might note now that i have forgotten most of, and never really went far with). I also have recently started picking up C#, in which I got the basics of it pretty good (i swear, feels like they took Visual Basic, and smashed it into C++ and Java, and you got C# ) but i've been trying to do a little bit of DirectX in it, but to no avail.

Marked as Flamebait.
Marked as Offensive.

And considering stickying it with a big notice reading: "What Not To Do!"

Oh, and here's some christmas cheer for you, this thread's going to remain unlocked to provide the good people of this forum with a great deal of laughter... and some chuckling.

why does everyone pay more attention to flaming than to checking out and contributing to the posts of people who are making games and providing enough information on them to comment on?

ah i see my threads become a luaghing matter, which is ok, no matter what it is it draws attention to my program so Im good with it! yes, im sure quite few people have viewed it and seen my program, maybee a joke but to them, but whatever gets publicity, its all good.

Oh, but flaming is oh so much more fun! Anywho...Yes, there have been way too many people trying to make mmorpgs. None of them have succeeded. Most of them havnt even made it through early stages. Even the ones that end up nearly finishing look like crap. Eternal Destiny is the only one i have any faith in I can assure you now, this project is almost destined to fail!

Why are people like Flame Master aloud to use the forums if that's all they're going to post? Seriously, are there any mods that can answer my question or even anyone that isn't a mod.

Yes, it was a good laugh...alright, im done laughing... Now, a helpful hint instead. Just basically what Uberwiggett robx said(just in a nicer way). Create a little more of the game. Get some more screenshots, a demo, something to show that you have a chance at creating the game. Dont pay attention to the people flaming you in the meantime, just concentrate on getting some proof done. Once you have it ready, post it here, we can see what you have done and either give constructive criticism...Or just flame you more
Oh yes, and im sorry for "being an ass". My name flamemaster has nothing to do with flaming people... I like fire, its my favorite element, hence the name flamemaster. I did not mean to be so rude, i do, however, believe that you should indeed get more work done on it... And ending in a more peacful note. I wish you best of luck. Alright, HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!

Yes, when you have a screenshot of something more then:

A) A flat matrix... maybe required 2 minutes to type out in DBP, and then grab a cheapo grass texture

B) A tiled skybox... maybe 2 minutes also

C) A Castle built from a few cubes and a few cones (milkshape is my guess)... and then textured in a stone texture.... maybe 10 minutes

Maybe you spent an hour so far. And you show no signs of even starting the server program. Which leads me into a few questions:

How are you gonna store player data, Locally or Remotely?
What kinda of connection, peer to peer, everyone connected to the main server, or connection to a mother shooting off to some child servers?

Quite interested to see if you have even gotten this far in the Design/PLanning stages yet.

I"m gonna leave that alone for now... and just focus on this statement:

Quote: " like a said earlier, pong wasnt made with a production team."

But Everquest (and any other mmorpg) was. They have groups of people handling every aspect of it. A few on the server(s) side, few on the client connection, etc...

You cannot compare something like pong (which it depends which on you count as the first pong... as there are many disputes on this) with something as large scale as a MMORPG.

who said anything about pong? Oh, well. Hey, truely, now that i look at why i program, ill tell you this. Ignore everybody, including me because i tend to be an ass sometimes. Create the game how you want to, and most importantly, enjoy the proccess of creating it. And if you have any questions or updates or anything of the category, place it in the forums. Or, you could just keep answering questions and be overwelmed, either way.

o and i mention pong becouse it was quite an achievement. it was invented when color tv was just starting to become common. it was first of all games (not including the lawsuit from the guy who said he invented pong) and back then the thought of a pixel moving was fascinating!

And that has to do with a modern day MMORPG, how?

As i said, pong, achievment (well not really as much in my eyes as to some people) in its time. MMORPG is much different though.

i made fun of your comment because pong is not a process intense product, sure it was huge for its time, but search teh code base and find the code, then redo the code it wil only take you an hour if you are good. an mmorpg needs more than just code. no do as i say, go away an dcome back when you have something decent to shut everyone up so we stop makign fun of you, or you will only ruin your career. listen to me if you want to be cool, im the guy that told my gf that i wasnt gonan make out with her cause she wil ruin the suede couch.

my failure? yes i believe i am failing at showingpeople the work on my game seriously dude i'm trying to help you here so read my typing : Go to bed! then tomorrow when you wake up, if you dont have school, go out with your friends and get some cool, if you cant do that, then get your dad to help you do some work on your game instead of not releasign info, it is absolutely stupid to say hi guys wanted to let you know that im workign on a game that i cant let you know about. so if you want us to stop calling you pussy or whitey, go stop being a pussy, whitey. and i was referring to us older coders who have irregular sleeping patterns because of coding, you are too young to have that happen, and you are yougn enough to fight it so go to bed!
