Heh, funny you should say that...

I was actually "nominated" for modship by Arkheii, a while ago, ( you can search General Chat for the thread if you like ), which ended in a fairly large disscusion about me, and my helpyness around here, then all of a sudden, I log on to find all these buttons and tick boxes, and go knows what else that I haven't dug up yet, and a post from rich saying that I'm modded

About the full-time job ( or lack there of ), I am about to be a full-tim Uni studeny ( start in 2 weeks ), and even if I worked 7-6 every day of the week, I would still be as active as I am now... It doesn't take much to browse, do the moddly business, and then leave, content in knowin that you've done a good job banning that newb... I mean... *cough*

I have full-time University (my last semester, woo-hoo!) *and* full-time work. However, I'm fortunate enough to be able to browse the forums both at school and at work. It's a win-win situation

But you also have to keep in mind what all the moderators have done for the community so far.

Cattlerustler - DarkTopia + DBP_NETLIB plugin + VB.NET consultant
Exeat - DBP_NETLIB wrapper
DavidT - Date/Time plugin + tutorials
IanM - His collection of many plugins'
TCA..Err Squidgy the Brick - collection of dll's
Mouse - seems to know a lot about IRC Chat
Richard Davey - TGC Admin

I just listed the moderators that I thought of first, I know that I have missed some. But my point is that all the moderators have had lots of experience over the years, have spent much of their time making DBP game programming much easier, and are willing to help other forum members (or ban them , whatever they want). Any newb's will have to be in the forums for quite awhile before they are qualified to be a moderator.

My advice is:

To become a moderator you:

> Have to be trustworthy
> Help people when ever you can
> Show projects/software you have done
> Make your own website
> Be nice
> Don't post useless threads (unless you're drunk)

You have to be nice, trustworthy, helpful and around when Rich picks new mods (if he does...)....very unlikely to happen

another way to be a mod:
make a game(my friend Enders is doing that and im helping)
not be a prick(enders had a small argument, but both he and Van B had violent moodswings and forgot about it )
be here alot(enders was here for a year)
and not make a thread trying to become one! it comes off as being selfish.

the w00tmasta strikes again! *fires homing missile*

The trick is to not have violent mood swings in other peoples threads. That's blown over now, I mean it means nothing - by the time it disapears off the last page nobody remembers .

Mouse, know alot about IRC? HAHAHAHA, oh that was a good one. If moderation was based upon knowing alot about IRC, me an lagmaster woulda been mods a long time ago

But that wasn't the point, the point was that they have been helping out the Dark Basic forums for years.

Eh?
Eh?
Eh?

... That's right! Don't mess with the almighty mod! ( Me, of course ).

Well, I was only helping out for a little while before I was modded. I'm just so charismatic that Rich couldn't resist me

And, AliM, please, please, please shut up

Jess.

No, but I bet that's what you want. I know you'd try anything just to get a chance to see me naked.

To become a moderator, you must keep your big mouth shut and not ask. It is like asking how is it that I am not Bill Gate's top employees. You have to earn it. Sorry for flamming up there.
