The topic should be warning enough
. Before you get involved, keep in mind that everyone's entitled to their opinion and logic, unfortunatly, is not required by the AUP where politeness is.
A few quibbles with Mr. Rock's posts in a former thread.
A. You attack Bush over not looking into alternitive fuel sources, but where Clinton failed to do anything about the fuel problem, Bush has invested significantly in research into hydrogen energy.
B. You mention that the majority of the world is now very unhappy (to understate) with the US over the Iraq war as a reason to dislike Bush. Here's something I honestly do not understand: Why should the world's opinion of us be important in issues like this at all? Unless it sparks another war, our
popularity should not be a factor whatsoever in deciding whether a politically incorrect action, or any action, is right or wrong.
C. From what I've seen, your argument about the Iraq war being for oil is as follows:
-The Bush Administration invaded for oil, failing to predict the extremely simple fact that you can't steadily export resources while military action is taking place. Thus the Iraq war was immoral and it is Bush's fault oil prices are rising.
Isn't it rather ridiculous to assume our strategists didn't predict that the Iraq war would hinder rather than help our current oil situation? And if the war was for oil, wouldn't we have started setting up the system to export it already? We have not siezed a drop of oil from the country from that country and the forces currently in power, despite heavy US involvement, have made it clear it's going to stay that way. Far as I'm concerned the war for oil argument became irrelevant a while ago-- in foresight it held merit, but it simply does not make sense that our government is not taking anything at this point.
D. Since when was 'Republican' a bad word? You use it like 'convict' or something. That's just rather weird, although I suppose it fits with the misunderstanding and misuse of 'capitalism' and the like that's becoming more common. Loaded words annoy be because they're so often used as a way of dodging around actually reasoning something out. And aside of that, I personally feel that, if we're getting into using terms as insults, democrat should be a far worse one.
P.S. I'm a Libertarian, not a Republican. [Obsolete comment now

(Heh.)
It is a perilous occupation for TGC to post anything by way of a promise, as the words get etched in indestructable marble for all time.
