Hey guys , which do you think is the best from these :-

-Good Charlotte
-Linkin Park
-GreenDay
-Simple Plan (or as I like to call it , Simple Can)

My favourite is Linkin Park , yea they are a bit old and their songs are the same in their albums , but they still are a fantastic band , you can ask me why .

They all are different really. You can't exactly compare a rap/rock band to a third wave punk band to two pop/punk bands. Personally my favorite is Linkin Park, but like I said, they are all different.

Metal is for people who actually have music playing to listen to it. I use it to play as background music when im working and stuff...metal is just too goddamn distracting.

NOT NORMAL? They are about as innovative as my butt (although it is known for learning some new tricks ) Bands like Public Enemy and Anthrax were already doing what Linkin Park does now plenty of years ago.

They used to be good. Then they wore makeup. Then I read the latest rolling stone and that retard singer from the killers (i like the killers but the singer is stupid) said that green day copied them by wearing makeup. i mean hasnt he heard of the cure? robert smith has been wearing makeup > 20 years now!

.... Linkin Park isnt good in only 1 thing : They have standard songs , then they start remixing them and make new albums out of them (JZ LP Collision course / Reanimation ) .

GreenDay is pretty good , but their band is so small , 1 guitarist , 1 bass , 1 drummer ? Gimmie a break .

Good Charlotte :- They have got an interesting set of members , their music isnt so good , just certain parts in certain songs , they are capable of making better music , they dont realise that .

As for metal distracting , it is sometimes , but Im always listening to LP , they are alternative metal , they arent distractive at all , unless im listening to One step closer 4 times in a row , then i fell like exploding .

I hate simple plan , they mix pop with rock , they've got that whole hilary duff music thing going on . Listen to Shut Up by simple plan , then listen to one step closer by linkin park , which is more rock-like ?

Ill try to listen to Anthrax

Saw Green Day in concert earlier this year... Simple Plan was the support - 'twas like two concerts in one.
Gotta say that Green really, really were awesome!

Would love to see Linkin Park in concert, that'd be bloody sweet!

Going to see Simple Plan in October ( bought the tickets yesterday ) at the Horton in Sydney... Should be good fun

savage garden was only 2. (not that they were any good)

i never cared for greenday, but there latest album i really hate. The rest of those bands are crap to. linkin park is tolerable, however, the remixes of each of their songs aren't. (Reanimation)

I been putting together an album of the great music of the early 90's. So far I have some peal jam, alice in chains, soundgarden, temple of the dog, toad the wet sprocket. I miss that good ol' grunge/alternative rock. It was mainstream, MTV played it, and I liked it. Life was good, then along came korn...

My god you all have such awful taste in music.

No really. Linkin Park? Let me give you a couple of verses from their musical barf:

Quote: "DEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAATH I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE YOUUUUU"

I believe that's from their 2002 album titled "I'm from a rich suburbian background but I'll whinge about being hard done to".

*cough* ... scuse me. rant over.

One of my uni housemates was talking about a band of a similar ilk to your trash up there... and he said they did a song which was about angsty teenagers (naturally), and how much they hate their parents and how rebelling was cool and stuff. And then at the end of the gig they all had to wait for their parents to come and pick them up.

Admittedly, I do like some of the new punk bands ironic/sarcastic slant on things. It's just their music usually sucks.

Linkin Park have a skin parasite obsession and a severe lack of singing talent.
Green Day sold out.
Good Charlotte are about a smack in the face away from Busted and McFly, and Britney freakin Spears.

I've no opinion on Simple Plan as I've never heard much of their stuff.
People need to stop basing their music choices on what other people think though - if you like a band then stick up for them and buy their albums regardless of any hyper-critical opinions posted here or expunged in the school yard. Musical taste is part of our personalities after all, I like talking to people with quite diverse music collections, shows they have a really open mind about stuff like that.

90% of the time I don't listen to a particular band. I listen to the radio if I hear a song and like it I right it down. Find the album buy it make an mp3 and add it to my collection. This way I do get new music every so often. If I get tired of a song I delete it. I've got stuff from all types of artist like ACDC, Metalica, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Pantera, Linkin Park(My favorite), Good Charlotte, Green Day, Simple Plan(recently added), the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra(Just one the 1812 Overture), many more I don't know the name of. Those are the major names plus I have a lot from local artists in different cities and countries I've travelled to. About the only thing I don't listen to is opera.

Wasn't Nirvana just 3 guys? And they rocked.

As of right now I can't stand ANY of those so-called "rock" bands they play on Much Music (MTV) nowadays. It's like pulling teeth.

Probably the best artist to consecutively put out highly rated albums while reinventing himself each time is none other than Beck. Don't know why he's so under appreciated for so much talent.

Well, all of my pals think linkin park stinks and they're so old , one of em says he used to be a big fan of LP , now he like GreenDay much more , and ill be leaving for another country , and he said he could give me 2 of his linkin park albums as a good-bye gift , Meteora and Hybird Theory , but he said that he cant give me the (reanimation) album , as he still thinks its good . So Linkin Park is never (completely untalented) And looks like im not the only LP soldier here But I just wanted to ask you guys , which is better , Marlilyn Manson , or Limp Bizkit ? Or do you prefer something else ?

neither. As a musician who has studied music in school, and is active in writing and performing music, my opinion is that neither marlyn manson or limp bizkit are great artists or musicians.

Sit down one day and listen to rush, yes, dream theater and symphony x. They are like the modern day motarts and bachs This is coming from a musicians point of view. My view just a normal listener are invalid because im not a normal listener

But if I had to choose one, id pick limp bizkit. Mansons just a freak show.

And dont get me wrong. They arnt awful, or else they wouldnt be doing shows in front of thousands and selling records, but there are plenty better musicians out there.

you can hear 3 free songs of dream theater at www.gigantour.com by using the flash music player at the bottom.

Check out megadeth as well.

Limp Bizket is god awful. I truly cannot stand them. Marylin Manson was OK for his Antichrist Superstar album, but after that he fell apart and lost what was left of writing music. At this same time his fans became slayer fans and they now ruin slayer concerts... but thats for another day

Nevermore... from a amatuer Recording Engineer's (and son of a musician and recording engineer) point of view, if your looking for excellent song writers. Jeff Loomis is a god on that 7 string, Van Williams has some interesting Drum lines and with warrel danes lyrical style (I've never heard any better written lyrics from a vocalist, then again, I listen to Judas Priest, so my standards aren't high ). They are also on Gigantour. I suggest listening to the "Dreaming Neon Black" album. Though if you can get a copy of the promo edition of "This Godless Endevour" then give that a listen.

Personally I can't stand Rush at all. Maybe its because I have a friend who dosen't stop playing their albums, or their not my taste, I dunno. I just don't like them. Dream Theater is too "progressive" for me. Megadeth is alright.

Ahh Charlie and the boys. Being a bit of an 80's throw back, I still really dig their mid 80's to 90's stuff ("Among the living", "State of euphoria" and "Persistence of time") which are some of my favorite albums even today.

Be warned though, In this period it's old school thrash. Some great fast and fun tracks, backed up with some incredible playing. It's progressive without feeling like it's randon parts fussed together. Debatably one of the most talented thrash bands in that mid 80's movement.

for me,

1)GreenDay
2)Linkin Park
3)Simple Plan
4)Good Charlotte

Green Day sold out.

The always dissed these new teeny bopper style bands, now they're like the kings of teenage angst.

I like the old GD albums, when there wasn't a song longer than 2.5 minutes and there's like 20 tracks on an album . They used to be quite thrashy, and unique - now they're just sad, and far too old to be wearing makeup.

The next teeny bopper sellouts will be...
S.O.A.D. (I'm guessing here of course)

Technical skills don't make someone a great artist or musician. Although I do like Yes and to a lesser extend Rush, I'm not a big fan of Dream Theater. The guys are incredible talented, no doubt, but most of their tracks just don't get through to me. Oh, and both Rush and Dream Theater suffer from their mediocre lyrics.

As for the 4 bands, I'd put them in this order:
1)GreenDay
2)Simple Plan
3)Linkin Park
4)Good Charlotte

I'm sorry to say that, in my opinion, all the bands stated by the person who started the thread are TERRIBLE. I'm glad that Nathan guy who posted stated some decent bands... well, three, in the form of Megadeth, ELO and (most of all, a band who I love...) Deep Purple. However, he missed Anthrax I think, and Kiss, Black Sabbath, Twisted Sister, Boston, and I'm sure there wre some other bands I obssess about who I've forgotten. Listen to the decent stuff, kids!

Oh, and bands had far better names back in the day... a lot of modern bands have inspired me to make a random band name generator on darkBASIC (it'll save new bands drawing out random verbs, nouns and adjectives out of a hat).

I can't stand Linkin Park, GreenDay's OK, never heard of Simple Plan and I don't mind Good Charlotte. I spend more time listening to Opeth, Sistem of a Down (espetially B.Y.O.B.), Evanescence, Depeche Mode, and DreamTheater.

Hmmm... I'm not a fan of any of those bands either, TKF15H. But hey, each to their own. Most people my age hate my taste in music. I really can't stand evenescence though... I'm sorry, but I have not heard one good female singer in rock music ever (again, that is my opinion and yes, I've been accused of being sexist) and the one in evanescence is especially terrible... right down there with the one from nightwish (although the one from nightwish isn't avtually a bad singer, but her opera style really doensn't mix with (mediocre) metal).

heh, I can't stand Nightwish either. True she has a good voice but the opera doesn't fit.

Yea, exactly, I mean if all rock music has to offer in terms of female singers is Courtney Love (spit) then my friends of the female variety can't really call me sexist, right?

I mean, I don't go around saying 'oi. you. Woman. In the kitchen/ Bedromm NOW!'

Ahh, thanks for the fill-in. I don't keep up-to-date with the whole 'music scene' in the slightest.

About the whole "3 people in a band is not enough"... what about VAST?
That's one man!

... Only one...

I wanna see that fella in concert for sure!
Almost all of his songs are about something meaningful ( not just the same old blabber ), and his most popular song has been in quite a few movies ( none of which I can remember, nor care to, but they featured the song )... "Touched" is the name

Anyway...

Gotta say that System Of a Down's songs are pretty stupid... I mean, they sing about the weirdest things... and it's just idiotic ( 'cept the Prison Song... love that one ).
I still like the music, and it's great for putting on at a party as the occasional heavy-rock track

The Living End has to be one of my favourite rock bands now, I'd say.
The music's great to listen to when you wanna just relax with some Rock ( or if you're programming ).

Another one is Live - Dolphin's Cry... But, all the other songs on the albumns are great too... Dolphin's Cry is my mosterest favourite song ever!

*shrug* Like VanB said, it's all down to personal preference, and what you're into.
Your choice is yours, and mine is mine...

Jess.

I really don't care enough about changing other people's opinions to argue to reply to anyone here, but of the bands mentioned I only like Linkin Park. They're excellent.
