Argg.. I wrote "Double?Tripple?" meaning I wasn't sure of what type of busses they were. I don't live in London. And during my post I couldn't remember if it was 2 double, 3 double, 2 triple etc... my mistake.

Personally I'd say if its terrorists, AL kaieda, IRA, iraqis or even jelous french people (I highly doubt it)

Well its obvious these 'terrorists' (they are terrorists, because they caused a large amount of terror) have devised a plan, probaly a quite clever one, they have shut down the train service right, and all forms of transports in london too, and well theres a lot of people in one place in london isn't there? Well personally if I was in London, I'd get the hell outta there, this is probaly just a blow to us to get our awareness before theres a big attack, they prolly want us to panick, so, well if I was parliament, I would over look that idea and try to do what I could to get them out of there, but I'm not a suit with a lot of money and going bald with grey hair

Problem is - people cant get out of london.. Loads of stations are shut and there is no way one you're IN london to travel arouns (unless you're minted enough to pay for a taxi.. which'd be able £10 to go down the road ( ~$20 )...)

I know, and our government isn't exactly protecting us from terrorists, isn't it supposed to be the governments first priority to ensure the safety and well being of their people? Nope, they think more about money, other countries that aren't even a threat and sticking their nose in other peoples business where people get p**sed off and do these terrorist attacks to show the government a lesson. So basicly if the government focused on their own country and kept there noses out of other peoples business, well things like the london attack, 911 etc wouldn't happen

My uncle said on MSN they aren't likely able to get out of london until tomorrow, my aunt is in london at the moment because she works there, so I doubt even if you could get a taxi, you won't be able to get out, transport in london is at a halt

Hypicrit? I doubt he even cares, he's a puppet, decisions are his own, but yeah, how could people re-vote him in, the first election he fixed, the second he won by propaganda. I'm sorry if americans will disagree with what I think of bush, but meh

true true, terrorist point is true as well, USA and UK are terrorists to Iraq etc, USA and UK aren't terrorists to us (to some people they are freedom fighters, I disagree with em) and well theres the other way round al quaieda are our terrorists and the IRA etc (to believe America supply the IRA weapons, very odd, but I guess the sellers are interested in the money in it)

707 to go with 911, now what does 707 relate to, if they did it at 9 o clock on the 9th of the 9th you'd get 999, but I guess they're not going for significant numbers (I don't mean the term in maths) as 911 was, they'd prolly call it G8 05 day or something, or the day tony blair gets the sack or resigns in panick, whatever happens first

My guess is extremists and related to the olympic bid...

"Pull your troops of (whichever country they're from) if not you'll pay for it at the time of the olympics" type of threat

as demonstrated, it was possible, and if it was extremists, they'd certainly be capable of doing similar all the way in 2012...

that's my guess, as cold-blooded as it may seem...

As horrific as all this is - it was only a matter of time.

My concearn is that the culprits are busy slapping backs and laughing about how easy that was - we should ask ourselves how long before the next attack and what could be realistically done to 'try' and prevent this happening again.

Please don't turn this thread into another thread about Bush and America.

My thoughts to those in London, hope nothing else happens today.
I have some relatives in London, but phones are too busy and I can't get through. I'm sure they are alright however, as they live in Chisick (sp?).

All we can do is prepare for the worst and keep away from where they are likely to strike, just hope they don't take out RAF bases, we got a few near where I live, one is an American one, but I would see why they'd attack the Cambridge area

I just got the news. I am horrified! I remember 9-11 and how frightening and sad this situation can be! The concern for people you know, people you work with, and friends and family. My sympathies go out to everyone affected.

Hmmm... 2+0+0+5 = 7... Therefore its the 777 attack

Its slowly returning to "normal" here as far as I can tell. Everyone around me (including me) are working together to try to either figure out routes home or offering floor space.. Canon Street is still shut (as of 14:30) but it seems Charing Cross is open.

Anyone else here work in london?

It all depends on your perspective. From their point of view - we aren't innocent. They honestly beleive "we" are scum and deserve to die. That have no concept that what they are doing is wrong, just as when George Bush invaded Iraq to take out sadam, he consider what he was doing right. I dont want to turn this thread into a "right vs wrong" thread, but my point is that everyone beleives that what they're doing is right otherwise they wouldn't do it. Unless of course those people are mentally sick

I agree with Powersoft..

A freedom fighter would logically be fighting for freedom...

to be able to do something like that, looks to me like someone's got all the freedom they need...

but that still leaves me thinking "why innocents" they're not in anyway responsible for what happening in Iraq. Most of them are probably against it....

massacring the military would be good from their point of view...

killing regular people - not really a great achievement is it? and it's only gonna annoy the government even more and make us less likely to withdraw...

Targetting innocent people isn't fighting for freedom it's just playground bullying - and not in the slightest way respectable

Never said it was... However, remember whenever we go to places like Iraq, we end up killing innocents.

Also remember its us innocents that elected our leader.

Its the way of the 21st century. Everyone is a target. WW2 pretty much saw to that, what with the new ability to bomb anyone you want.

Quote: ""why innocents" they're not in anyway responsible for what happening in Iraq"

We are though - if we really didn't want it to happen, we could have done a lot more than just a march. Empeaching Tony for not listening to HIS people, pretty much anything.. But we didn't. WE just sat there saying "oh please dont..." and that includes me!

This is pretty sad news. Expected, to an extent, as Van said, but sad.

Something has to be done to prevent terrorism of this extent, and obviously complete surveilence and effecient policing (this is London ffs) isn't the sole solution. And neither is cowering down and blaming it all on Bush for trying to fight back...

Couldn't agree more.

The problem is, there is virtually no way you can stop this kind of threat, because anybody can be a terrorist, go undetected and blow themselves up in a public area and nobody knows where or when these things will happen because they do not neccesarily need alot of planning - it could be as simple as a couple of guys phoning each other and saying a date on the phone, and then they all set off bombs they have each prepared on that date. Who could stop something like that?

sickened and very very angry,

close the borders and let no bugger in or out, hunt them down and publicly execute them all. we cannot and must not tolerate this kind attack on our nation. All the groups involved should have every member exterminated along with all their sympathisers, regardless of where they come from. We should have done the same with every member of the IRA in the 80's. any political movement which supports these attrocities or is in any way sympathetic to their 'cause' should also be exterminated without question.

grant.

my sympathies to all the families and individuals this attrocity has touched.

You have to strike at the organizations that fund the bombs in the first place. I think Grant's on the right track, although overzealous IMO. Detain and question every known terrorist and shut down every group that sympathises with them until you've got a lead - that's the only way I can think of to realisticaly get to the bottom of this thing soon enough and prevent it from happening again.
