phpMyAdmin's gone, and the dbHelp database is still in read-only mode, which means the thing's kinda useless

But, it's up-to-date, which is a good thing, I s'pose

always prepare for the worst...

It really sucks when you lose something big like a entire website. Do you have partials of the missing php's or do you have to rebuild them... or am I just not understanding what is going on.

I have an almost-up-to-date backup of the database ( only a few days old before the crash, which means there's only about 2 or 3 comments missing ), and fairly old backups of the php.

I can re-write what I've done, but it's a bit of a hastle, and changing hosts now is going to be sticky no matter what I do, as it means everyone will go to the wrong page

I'll just sit quietly waiting for Jimmy to do his majic, occasionally emailing him

JessTicular - If you want me to host the dbhelp site and database on my server, let me know. It would suck to see such a valuable resource drift away. Plus I have a large chunk of space and bandwidth I'm paying for that's not being used :-P

Thanks Jake, but I'll wait for Teh Jimmeh.

Thankfully it's still all viewable, and everything is there, but it's just not interactive anymore, which isn't a big loss for the moment.

What do you guys expect for free? If you want something more reliable shell out the $5-10 a month for a commercial hoster. For something as important as the dbhelp files I'm surprised they're being hosted on dbspot anyways.

Nothing against dbspot of course. I appreciate Jimmy's contributions toward the DB community
