Homebrew Lumines for GBA.

http://pinocchio.jk0.org/lu/

Apparently, it's playable on a DS

I've tried it on an emulator. IT IS SO COOL! ^_^ It's not perfect yet, but it's worth looking out for.

Watch this along the way.

*BUMP!*

I just got a Nintendo DS today!
It is really great fun! I got a demo game with it, it's a fps game called Metroid Prime : Hunters it's a fun game! But i also bought Super Mario 64 DS That's soo much fun! There are a tons of mini games and the adventure mode is great! Also it's fun to play against your friends over the no-cable multiplayer You know, actually just online game but it can only reach 300 meters or so. But it's still great fun to sit and challenge your friends.

and if one of your friends got a game you don't have and ya all wanna play "online" in it. Then you can just download the multiplayer part quick and easy to your DS and then play! COOL!

There's also a picture chat we're 16 can join!

The DS is just great!

Actually, it's only a selection of games where you can play single-card download play. And about the internet thing, Nintendo is acutally planning to set up Wifi hotspots, where you can play ACTUAL online. That's already there in Japan.

But to make a long story short, the DS outrules the PSP. What does the PSP have? Yes, a camera, DVD player, music player, and so on. But you have to buy all that cool features for extra money, like, a thousand dollars or so.
About the games. PSP has, well... Driving games. And a single puzzle game. What else? Oh yes, FPS games where you can't look up and down because of the crappy controls, and a single analouge controller? What's up with that?

About the Dual Screen, the controls are superb. The touch screen is the greatest innovation seen in a VERY long time. It gives oppotunity to a lot of cool, and fun, games. For those who have tried using the touch screen, you must agree with me. It's an awesome experience.
I ordered Nintedogs, about a week ago, from cd-wow, since it's not out in little Denmark yet. After six days of wait, I got home and a package from England was placed upon my table. I was SO happy! I thought it wa the little Nintendog that had just arrived! But when I open up the package, it's FPSC V1. Never had I thought I would be THAT dissapointed about getting FPSC, but Nintendogs were all over my mind.

About Metroid Prime, I also got the demo, and it ROCK! I think I played just the demo for 3 hours! And it took me 30 minutes to complete. FPS's is an AWESOME experience on the DS, where you aim using the stylus and the touch screen. I bought Goldeneye 007 for the DS when I was in Norway with a friend. It was so cool. But(there HAS to be one of those!), the game was incredibly short. 6 levels. Which took 20-30 minutes each. And the last level was uncompleteable. But I hope that Metroid Prime Hunters:First Hunt will be different.

Mario 64 DS. What can I say. A must have for all DS owners and Nintendo fans. It a clone of the original, but larger. Where the original had 120 stars to get through, the DS version has 150. And you can play the game as both Mario, Luigi, Wario and Yoshi. Ans some stars are only to get with one specific character. That game is awesome.

Then I've got Star Wars : Revenge of the Sith. Awesome game, played it constantly when I was in Thailand. But it's basicly the same game as the Gameboy version. Nothing special about that.

Then what's up with the driving games? PSP's got Burnout(which comes to DS soon, anyways). The DS has got Mario Kart, or, will GET, when it comes out. I know what I'd prefer What? Nintendo AAAAALLL the way!

That was my 2 cents. Excuse me, I'm off putting my Nintendog asleep.

As for looking up and down.. wait for socom, there are a couple other ones coming out that will let you do it too..

Use the analog for moving around in each direction and Left trigger and Right trigger for looking up and down. Square shoots, X jumps, Triangle and O can change weapons etc, select can bring up a menu.. Seems like fine controls to me.

Socom, Golf, Football, NBA games, Medieval is out now(despite bad reviews), Death JR., Lumines, quite a few good racing games, a couple RPG's and some hack and slashes.. I dont see much wrong with the games, the biggest problem is that there arent many.

I'm willing to give the DS some credit for it's touch screen, but i think the PSP is more of the full package.

PSP has a great looking screen, can play video's, music, access the internet, photo's, play homebrew games.. has accessories like you said: Camera, keyboard, lots of nice cases..

And you dont need a thousand bucks to do all of this, not even close.

I'm not a super duper PSP fan, and i'm not dissing on the DS or anything like that, i think they both have some really great things about them.

Well, in the movies that I've seen from FPS's on the PSP, the player rarely looks up and down. Simply because it's to difficult. I've also heard it from one of my friends. But hey, that's just what I've heard!

Not that I'm against the PSP either, I simply love the DS. And I don't think much of the PSP... Sure it has got a lot of accesories, yes, but you DO have to pay extra for them. And you can also play movies and music on a DS, you only have to buy a DS Movie Kit, for a fair price. Then just put some movies, music tracks, or even virtual books on a game card, and put it in your DS, and presto!

But then again, it IS all about the games. And in mt oppinion, that's where the DS TRULY has it's advantage. Because of the touch screen, mainly, and... Nintendo just has the coolest ideas for games. But if you're after all that fancy pancy honkey tonkey stuff the PSP's got, or if you think the DS is childish, there's nothing to do.

But I DS.

But so can laptop-- and it's portable too. History has continuously shown that devices which claim to do everything including washing the dishes always fail.

You're correct Jeku.. But comparing it to the Laptop is a tad different.

This is meant to be a handheld system which can fit in your pocket. A laptop is still a little big for that ..

You're absolutely right though, you could simply declare it as a handheld-laptop.

Isnt that the exact thing that you're currently developping for? And two bucks says it isnt going to fail

Um soryy just had to add that the DS can NO WAY have a GOOD version of Burnout on it, thats a physical imposibility. Burnout 3 however is available on PSP and pretty good, though still not perfect.

Although I agree, if I had to choose between them, at the moment the DS is more to my taste with more original games. I agree that Mario 64 ds is amazing (if difficult to control compared to the original) and the Metroid demo plays very well indeed

"PSP can play video's, music, access the internet, photo's, play homebrew games"
As I pointed out, so can the DS and even GBA, they can take flash cartridges and add-ons to do all of that. But I agree with Jeku - um why would you want to do that with a portable console anyways? separate devices whihch do the job infinitely better are avaiable - or just buy a laptop that will do it much better, and play better games

Because it's not taking away from gaming, it's adding to the units ability to do other things.. It's trying to appeal to everyone, and not just only gamers.

I agree with Merix and disagree with Jeku. Yes it's portable, but it's "Whip it out during a boring IT lecture" portable. I wouldn't want to drag a laptop on the train and subway everyday. I agree with you about the usless "do it everything" gimmicks. I couldn't care less about the video/music capability. That's what a TV is for, and that's what an MP3 player is for. But I DO want a nice big screen to work with if I plan to add mods or make my own homebrews. Maybe even go on MSN abit?

EDIT:

And definatly, the UMDs make this much easier. I don't wanna bother with no goddamned DS cartiridges.

EDIT 2:

Ok you guys brag about the DS being able to play all your precious GBA games. With the PSP, you buy a nice memory stick, burn a crap load of ROMS/emulators for different systems and play your favorite classics. This just keeps getting better and better.

Someone give me money.

I guess you're right. Pretty much all of the systems coming out are claiming to do everything including clean your bathroom. It's a pity that games aren't the #1 priority anymore.

I have a DS and am still waiting for a good game to come out since Meteos. I already traded SM64 back in for Burnout Revenge on the Xbox because of the horrid controls. Nintendogs looks a bit boring. Waiting for Animal Crossing

You may say that now!
The Nerd(which is a personal friend of mine), said Nintendogs was boring, and that it wouldn't last for 5 minutes. And he didn't wan't a DS. Look at him, and his precious post in this thread, standing up for the DS. Of course he couldn't resist... And I think he's getting Nintendogs too.

I don't know your taste of games, but Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is an awesome action game. I played it for, err.... A very long time. For Animal Crossing... Wellm it looks strange enough to actually be fun. Have you tried Metroid Prime, or any other shooter on the DS?

Um you can do that with a flash based GBA cart (Up to 1Gb and no moving parts (so longer life of unit and batteries)

Although I'm not trying to argue, cos the screen on the PSP is far superior to the DS ones, and I'd much rather play Metal Slug / Marvel Vs Capcom / Sonic series / Mario 3 on the PSP. I'm just pointing out you can also do that on the DS. and the GP32....

Yah, the demo plays pretty nicely actually. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the DS to the PSP, but they seriously need to make more than 10 games before the end of its first year. Seriously!

Ignoring the fact the Memory Stick can store up 1GB compared to the GBA cartrige? You can fit a mighty lot of ROMS on that.

I am confused about the DS vs PSP buisness. The DS is selling more according to the "facts" yet the PSP has huge popularity. I've yet to see a DS owner among the many PSP owners I see everyday as I pass my highschool cafeteria.

I'm a tad confused..

Are you trying to tell me there is a way to burn ROM's onto UMD?

I dont quite understand that, to my knowledge there hasnt been a way to create UMD's.

PSP is my choice. But if I'm going to get it in the future there needs to be MORE and BETTER games for it. I think the game makers need to get on the ball with this or the PSP will go under.

However the psp will act as another remote control for the PS3. How cool is that? It will display stats and other useful information. You can use 2 tv's on the ps3. So there you have it, 2 tv's displaying two different things and a psp controller that displays vital informatoin.

That will be the most expensive controller you may ever spend your savings on. Plus, the battery life isn't too long. No dual shock or dual analog sticks, and you have missing L and R buttons... But if it's significantly better than The Banana, well... ^_^

I want a new Klonoa game (can't blame me). I'll buy whichever system Klonoa comes out for ^_^

The reason you don't us DS folks walking around with our DSs in use is because we treasure them: we never take it to school, clean them every night, and store them in a air-purified case.

Yes, I wrote that in the other post I made.

Though I HAVE never seen anyone walking around with a PSP.
Ok, a reason could be that it's just launched in DK, and the DS have been around for like, much longer.

Quote: "But if I'm going to get it in the future there needs to be MORE and BETTER games for it[PSP]."

Well. The games that'll come out for the PSP will just be ordinary console games, games just like those on the Playstation. You can never say that about the DS, because the touch screen opens up for new dimensions of gaming. And(like somebody else on this thread said), try to play Nintendogs on the PSP. It just wouldn't work!

Then take PSP best games(according to Gamespot), Lumines and Burnout. Lumines, a puzzle game. I think a puzzle game would work okay on the DS. And Burnout is even coming for the DS, so that's not exclusive for the PSP either. All I can see the PSP has, that the DS hasn't, is better graphics(even though the DS graphics are very good IMO), and it can play movies and music(the DS can actually do that TOO), and then you can take pictures with it. Great. A gaming console that can take pictures! Oh, I want that SO much!

Seriously, what's so special about the PSP? I honestly can't see the point. It can take pictures.

What do you want? Ordinary console games and a camera.
Or do you want innovation, and original, exclusive games?

Innovativeness is a great thing to have, you're right.. The touch screen opens up something new, and nintendo has tried for a long time always to bring something new to the table...

But i think Sony with it's PSP are starting to look more at the facts.. Check the average of the gamer, and i think that's what they're trying to have a go at.

With accessories like a keyboard, camera, headset(to talk to people online), and a lot of other applications that there is simply no reason not to have, i think it makes it a decent system. I hear there's even a GPS system attachment.

I see no reason NOT to have the extra functionality.. for all handhelds.. the DS could pull it off, so could a lot of the other ones.

Wait, so you want to lug around a keyboard, a camera and a headset as well as the psp when you're wandering around town?
That really defeats the purpose of a hand-held system now, doesn't it.

Perhaps not the camera..

The headset will be just as portable as the headphones currently included with the psp. If you've seen any pictures of the psp keyboard you'll see it flips up and acts as a cover for the psp.. This doesnt limit the PSP's portability very much, so yes.. I do want to "lug" that around.

No offence, but if you walk around with headphones around your neck, you're asking to have the hell beaten out of you and whatever ever they're plugged into stolen..!

Anyway... I think the most amazing thing about the DS is that my Mum, someone who actually yells at her husband for playing the PS2, wants to play Mario 64 DS all the time now
( I shouldn't have shown her )

So... Yeah.

After my Mum saw Nintendogs, she wanted a DS as well. Once she actually "borrowed" my DS without my permission, and played Super Mario 64.

That's just weird because I travel downtown 4 times a week with my headphones, and I don't exactly live in the friendliest city in Canada...

Cardiff used to have one of the highest car crime rates in Europe.

Seriously, you would always leave your car open. (So that they just have a quick rifle through it, rather than smashing the window first.)

lol, KLU's got it right

But seriously, the neighbourhood's not that bad... It's just pretty poor around the school I *went* to, and as such, if you're a nerd, or have anything of value, you generally keep it well hidden, and don't make eye contact with anyone that looks like they're on something

I heard that apple decided to start offereing multi colored headphones for the iPod or something or maybe sell the headphones separate, because people would watch for people wearing the white head phones and jump them, because THEY have an iPod...
but, i only heard that from one person, so i COULD be wrong...

Thus continuing to be a complete idiot.
