Uhh dude who is going to pay you via a PO box? not many people like sending money orders...i know i don't so thus i never do it. I'd rather do it over pay pal. But none the less i don't play pay to play MMORPG's so thus i don't play MMORPG's at all.

When we talk to god, we're praying. When god talks to us, we're schizophrenic.

PO box is much safer once people trust me. it is more likely that if you pay by Paypal, you may never see ur purchase ever. also, lets say 5 people tried to pay me by PO box, if they never got their game copy, they would tell everyone else not to bye it cause it is a rip off. it would be pretty sad if someone said they were making a game (and really werent) and made people pay money for it. people would find out really fast that it was a fake. he might make, what? $10? not worth it id say... especially when u could just make the game...

Conquer is free
Runescape is free

Why can't this game be free. I mean, those games are free and look way better that your screenshots. No offence, I'm just saying, if you want people to pay, then make playing free, but pay to be a member. I mean I would see that to be fair.

i agree with drew charging for a game per month is stupid unless you have a truley professional team.

i think it would be better if you completed or fully planned your game before you start slapping on price tags for a game that hasnt even been made. it may sound like a great idea to set a monthly price a game a nice way to get money but realistically you need a product that will excite people, show them whats dufferent about your game. i currently play knight online which is a fully free mmorpg but you can pay for increaced exp rate, extra items and things. i find this method alot more appealing as you will get alot of people into it since its fully free if you want it to be and some benuses if you want to pay.

ive looked at planetside which is a pay monthly game kinda like a online action game with some rpg elements, the good thing about that game is your race is constantly fighting for ownership of bases/supply lines so the action is pretty much non stop although i havent played it, it does sound fun.

also most games that are pay monthly started out with open betas or what not like anarchy online so its free for a year then the monthly charges come in place, this is a god way of approaching it because you will get the initial load of players and the ones that like the game will pay for it but if you start a game with 0 players then realistically no ones going to pay anything since theres no players.

@oneka: true... but that would be mean lol

@drew:
conquer - never heard of it
runescape - has the worst graphics ive ever seen, and trust me, mine are WAAAAY better

why my game can't be free:
1. i need to support the game with a server. atm, the one i have isnt anything special (windows 2000; nothing special wireless internet... stuff...) and i would like to buy one for about $300 - $500. to achieve this, people must pay. also, PO box isnt free.
2. come on... its just $2 a month. ur not going to go broke over it. runescapes members fee is $5 per month, but not required. i think it would be better to have a required amount that is less than half of runescapes members fee.

@dark coder: ive been planning this game out for 1 full year; dont say i need more

yes i am saying you need more planning this sounds like some half-baked project you designed on a post it note. games dont just revolve around graphics, although your site doesnt work now from what i recall your game concisted of a few sprites and a advanced terrain, how you can say your game is better than runescape i have no idea, runescape is free or you can pay for extra servers and what not although ive never played it myself ive seen it played, and id have to say its alot more advanced than your game.

sure you have a nice list of things that are supposedly completed like your chat system and battle system, yet you have no exact proof of this, if i had a came that was as complete as your description stated then i would try to get all the people on appolo boards playing it have a nice game of 20-30people and show some screenshots of everyone playing not some random cube on a landscape.

and whats so great about having a po box adress? how many people would send you money through the post?? and theres lots of other free mmorpgs out there it just seems you have done 0 market research so you have no clue what your audience wants, in an ideal world you would have loads of people flocking to your game but have you even thought about how you will advertise your game? and also the servers you say you will buy a server for $200-$500? seems cheap to buy a server not to mention the kind of internet connection you will need to satisfy players.

but at the end of the day its your game release the beta and we shall see if its any good...

dark coder, your obviously not getting this... over the the 1 year period, i had designed everything to go into this game. i couldnt even fit the description of the game on a post-it note, let alone the entire thing. i have a stack of papers 5 inches high FULL of designs. i think this is plenty to get me started, dont u think?

i told you why the game will cost $2 per month, and i have done market research.

there is nothing 'great' about having a PO box, i just find it the simplest way to recieve the money. a lot of people dont trust paypal and other online paying methods because of credit card theft. people may not trust my PO box. thats ok. people dont trust every company/person/group that they meet

and about the cube on the landscape: i feel very offended by that comment. many people put cubes as their character until they have a finished, textured model that they are proud of. of course, i could put my model up, untextured. but i dont feel proud of it. im texturing my human at this very moment.

about advertisement: with the internet, it really isnt that hard to get a few people. then its all word of mouth.

a server for $200 - $500 is enough to support a decent amount of players. also, the internet can be upgraded as i get more MONEY ($2 per month if you didnt notice). my game cant be free or i will only be able to support like 50 players at a time. also, i wont suddenly have 100,000 players and not be able to handle them with the server and internet. with the current server and internet, i can hold 50 players; with a $200 - $500 server, i could probably hold 1000 players. once i have this many people playing, thats $2000 per month. i could easily upgrade to a larger server with a better internet with that much money per month.

also, if you didnt notice, i am releasing a free beta.

now, plz, stop baggering me about this. i just want to finish my game.

It's looking good. But, for now, with what you showed us, I'll not pay for this. If, the beta show some graphics and gameplay, then maybe you'll have some ppl that will pay for that. But for now, It's not bad at all. But can I ask you some questions?

1. Do you have a large part of the multiplayer code done?

2. Can you show some screen shots of some other models?

3. Do you have a battle system ready to show us?...

But I'll say to you good luck for your game.

1. bah... not enough to show anyone no. some of its in bits and pieces and the other part is like 10% done.

2. sure, i have plenty, but they wont be on the terrain. ill have to show u the models with a default blue background i guess. ill get screens of those right now.

3. battle system, i havent been working on it lately, so no.

btw, the human model (textured and all) should be finished by today or tomorrow .

1. i am using DBP of course
2. im not sure between EZ_Serv and MultiSync... ez_serv seems to have ease of use, but multisync seems to be more functional. the only problem i am having is understanding how to use multisync (i think im going to use this instead of ez_serv). i downloaded it and looked at the examples and manual, but sending and recieving data is still confusing to me :-\

i think i need more examples and stuff. i dont know...

I would take runescapes idea and make free accounts and member accounts. That way if people actually enjoy your game they will pay for a membership. (Just my idea though)

Did you code the server in darkbasic or a different language?

I have nothing to say to the likes of you.

the server is about 5 different programs (all written in C++) that are linked together with a data transfer program written in DBP. i have this all planned out. the only thing is... i havent finished those programs yet

btw, if people like the beta, they can buy the game.

I think thats a bad idea. Make your game really fun and stuff, like really good and long. BUT, you can only have the full game if you pay one time for $15. Otherwise, everything in the game is limited.

Nice game . I'll have to play beta before I decide if its worth the $2 a month though. Very nice from the screenshots . Good luck and keep going! .

@bizar: a temporary image of the world map is on the game's website(see my sig) im going to make a more 'ancient-parchment' look for the map sometime

@TDP: acctually, i would have to say my world is moderately sized... big enough for many people and a lot of places, but not so big that you can't find your way.

Hello everyone! Sorry i haven't posted in a week... Anyway, i have great news! my friend and i have been testing my server code for the last few days and i finally got it to work with some advice from Benjamin and others. so, i expect a Beta to be out within a week or so

but, just so you all know, the beta will have these features:

*walk around as a cube... or slide, rather (fun, i know... im going to add finished, animated characters asap)
*swim... or bob as cubes do.
*chat with people online
*sorry, only one zone, cause the zoning code isnt finished yet... but it wont take that long to finish
*select the spherical creature (clicking attack doesnt do anything yet)

Good stuff, post a beta

More to say: If your game graphics were as good as the ones posted, and the detailed stalls represented the game, I would buy it. But since there is no action, or examples, and the beta isn't up, I wouldn't want to buy it. Please post more stuff...

Well done Jason. I'd love to see how this turns out. Don't listen to dark coder. I dont know whats up with him. (I was thinking he was pretty good guy, i mean at least i thought...) I agree that it should be free however. Well, like maybe a free version, for cheap people like me and a payable version for hardcore fans. Kinda like runescape does I guess. Keep up the good work
