It's available to purchase. There's a non-saving demo there too.

Check out the screenies and 30 textures that come with it. It's fun to just play around making segments out of old Doom textures and the free golgotha ones.

Take a look.

OK I just sent the update and a discount code for every GM customer as far as I can tell. Enjoy. I can only keep the discount open for a short time for existing customers. After that it disappears.

There are some features I want to add to Magic FPS. More kinds of segments and possibly instant entities as well. I'll keep updates free for people who have it already.

As always if you're haveing any problems just email me and I'll help you fix them.

Enjoy.

The licence aggreement? Here's what comes with the program:

2. Copyright and License Agreement:

All Media Copyright (c) Shanon White 2005. All rights reserved.

End Users of MagicFPS are not authorized to :
Separately sell, re-sell, sell as, duplicate, collate, distribute, publish, represent - for re-sale or free this program or the textures / media that come with it (except textures as part of segments).

MagicFPS users are authorized to distribute or sell (royalty free) only with respect to the author of MagicFPS any FPS Creator segments made with this program or any game created using segments created with this program.***

You can make segments and sell them. The author of MagicFPS (me) is not liable for any copyright infringement that might happen if you use copyrighted media to make segments with MagicFPS.

3. Disclaimer:

This media and accompanying documentation is provided 'as-is' without warranty of any kind. The entire risk regarding the performance and results of this media is assumed by the user. The author (Shanon White) disclaims all warranties, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of media and accompanying documentation. In no event shall the author be liable for any damages arising out of the use of, or inability to use this media even if the author has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Disclaimer2:

***Users of MagicFPS can use any textures from any source, therefor Segments made with this product may contain copyrighted material --which is solely the responsibility of the user and of no concern to the author of Magic FPS.

Does this answer your question(s)? You can use any of the textures in any games or presentations, you can't distribute the textures by themselves without my permission (say as part of your own texture pack), but you can distribute segments you made with or without those textures freely any way you like.

You could, for example, make your own segment pack using Magic FPS and sell the pack for 5 bucks or something. If you really put a lot of effort into say taking pictures of buildings on your street and carefully making segments to match storefronts and houses and combined that with your own media, Magic FPS could help you create part of a freeware or even commercial product.

The people who have it so far, please feel free to comment about what you like about it or how I could improve an updated version.

Thanks!

There's a freeware segment editor on the board, and here's a quick comparison...

Magic FPS vs Dodic's segment editor:

MFPS Creates full room segments (Dodic's just walls, floors)
MFPS Automatically puts segments in FPSC with icon (Dodec's you have to copy yourself and no icon)
In fact you can have fpsc open and Magic FPS open and save a segment and it shows up instantly in FPSC editor when you select New Segment!

MFPS Uses jpg, bmp, tga, dds -no need to convert from digital camera or most web photos. (Dodic's only tga --which means you need to convert most textures)

MFPS Has instant 3d preview with mouse zoom and rotate You can see instantly how your segment is going to look (Dodic's separate preview which takes a while to get in and out of an no view control)

MFPS comes with 30 (and growing with every free update) original 512x512 textures. Dodic's comes with 14 256x256 textures.

MFPS is a friendlier faster more professional product and any free updates and new features will have that same feel.

MFPS is $14.99 (discount available to previous Grave Matter buyers). Dodic's is free. You can't beat free.

It is very nice that Dodic has created a free alternative for the community.
I just want to make sure that people know there's a difference, and my customers know that they're getting what they paid for. I'd still buy mine if I didn't already have it.

Thanks guys!

true mate , there allways is a difference between free and not free.

Your is much better , and the point of existance of mine was not to beat yours , just , well to ease the peoples work in that field..

But i hafe to warn you , mine is still in production and will have many more features than it does now , and it`s features rise by every minute

That will force me to add even more killer updates and everybody wins!

I'll even trade links with you if you have a site.

Somebody asked why we are making segment editors when there is an official TGC one out there. The answer is obvious when you try to use Thiers to make a simple room segment --though you can do much more with theirs given a bit more time and effort.

Ive always wanted a window that takes upa huge amount odf scpace, or a dorr that takes up 2 squars on the editor!!! im so getting magic fps, i have to pry my dad away from the hockey game though : )

dont assume cause ull make an ass out of you and me!

There's like a major women's hockey game on tonite. What's up with that... I imagine there will be a lot of checks.

I have some ideas for updates like a lighting editor for lit parts of your walls. Like if you have a fake window and you want it lighted or a scifi wall with lights my editor will handle that. There are a few more things I want to add right away (in the next week or so) so enjoy.

Note: This version won't work unless your FPSC is installed to the default directory. I might add an option to change that, but for now it needs to find FPSC where it exptects it should be found.

You can do commercial whatever you want with the any segments you make with Magic FPS. You just can't distribute the textures by themselves or the program.

Downloaded the Demo and Im impressed. Buying it in the next few minute's. This is a way easier tool to work with rather than the segment editor from TGC. Perhap's you can work on a tool for door's or window's?

It is a zip. It's a zipped msi file. The msi is a microsoft installer file and you don't need anything but windows to run it. Just click on it and it installs automatically.

I would have just left it an msi file because it's already compressed, but tradebit only allows certain extensions.

BTW here's some preliminary work on a future addition to Magic FPS.

Hills. Stackable hill segments. Kind of like the grave matter hills but these go all the way so you can have matrix like maps or pyramids if you want.

this automatically ? now THAT would be nice !!!!

Dude it shows that I am downloading an MSI file, not a ZIP.
That's why I canceled and came here to post that question.
Even if you look at the properties of the link it shows as an MSI and not a ZIP.
If that thing runs automatically, then how will I do a virus scan before I install?

Not that you have one in there, but I like to check everything just for peace of mind.

Nevermind.
I am just not familiar enough with the MSI format.
Maybe later.
Thanks

MSI file is microsoft install file , it is a INSTALATION FILE (at least i think so) , AND IT DOESNT START AUTOMATICLY , you DOWNLOAD IT , and then RUN THE FILE , and it will start installation , like normal setup.exe file only its msi instead of .exe.

So , you can check it easily..

A few questions. Does it have CGS, non-CGS and Punch model capabilities for creating doors and segments with holes in them like the stock TGC segment tool? Does it have the flag settings for visibility and what kind of segment you intend on making?

I have the same question about the punch.
It looks like this is for texturing wall and floor segments.
I don't think you actually get to weld or punch.

Maybe I am wrong, but I didn't see mention of any of that at the website.

Can you weld or punch Sinister?

Yes it does. I DLed Magic FPS, and have had success using doors, windows, and holes just like stock segments. Footstep sounds are incorporated, too.

Thanks,
