Since all these lawyers are hanging around this thread I figure I might aswell ask some legal questions myself. Firstly is it murder if the murderer is not technically human? Secondly, It's legal to use the name Matlock in my game if it's just a mention of his name and it's to make fun of him. Or should I thinly veil it by saying Natlock instead?

@Matt Lock..er Rock: Sorry for hijacking your thread although the thead is usually over after people start posting pictures of hairy bombs anyway.

lol I don't mind, this thread lost all meaning a few days ago. I think it's starting to transform into an ideal place for random stuff

I'm no lawyer, but I'm 95% confident I can answer your questions:

1. Yes. They put dogs to sleep if said dogs eat, I dunno, babies or something. But they've never had to extend the law to cyborgs. I think the question there would be... do they arrest the cyborg or the guy who programmed him?

2. It's a public entity, and after spending the past few days researching all of this stuff, I've uncovered from various sources that you can name Matlock in your game, but you can't show him or base your game on him. Like, you can say "Let's get some fries from McDonalds," as long as you don't show said fries in a Mickey D's container.

Is this a joke question? Are you trying to waste my time? What on earth do you mean by "not technically human"? If the murderer is human, then providing there is the necessary actus reus and mens rea, its murder.

Animals cannot commit murder.

You can use the name Matlock and in so doing you get to enjoy putting yourself at risk of potentially being sued for defamation and/or injurious falsehood depending on how you've used it, whether it damages his reputation, and whether he gets annoyed enough to want to sue you.

Thats it. I've had it answering ridiculous legal questions. I'm out of here.

If a dog attacks a human, and kills that human or injures it badly, they put it to sleep . So in a legal sense, isn't that the equivilent of claiming the dog is a murderer?

Or do you mean that animals are physically incapable of murdering humans? Because let me tell you... An African Savanna Lion is definitely, 100% without question capable of slaughtering a human... and if he's hungry enough, he might just do it .

Sorry, I just like adding hyperlinks to threads, hehe

I'm just using him as a motivation for elderly zombies. I think I'll just change it to Natlock, just to be safe.
