Torrey, nah mate, she's exactly opposite, has my wife's/wife's father's nose - we call it the Gary curse, but enough on that - ROFL.

anyway, yep she's very healthy and all is well - thanks guys. Just wanted to share our joy a bit.

Mommy and baby come home tomorrow, so for now I am at home alone about to play some video games and drink a bunch of beers - it may be a while until I will be able to do that stuff again, but we'll see.

My daughter poured a glass of coke over my head once. She was about 18 months at the time.

besides, kids are far more advanced these days...the Terrible Twos start at around 18 months.

I'm always impressed how things that small can make so much damn noise! I mean seriously - if you scaled the noise:'human size' thing up to a full grown human, you'd probably be able to demolish cruiseliners! I've heard that a babies cry is designed to be at a specific pitch that human ears are very sensitive too...

T'is a cute baby though.

NicT: Yeah, thats my tag from the psych-ward upstairs... No, really, the hospital gives the father, the mother and the baby matching serial id tags. For me (the father) its my id and I have to wear it from the time the baby is born until when we take her home, its so I can come and go thru security 24/7 without hassels, same with the wife (but she ain't going walkies, trust me ). The baby has the same tags as well as a Baby-LoJack device on her leg! Its an RF Tx/Rx unit. If you try to take baby out of the maternity ward OR if you cut off the band, the entire floor of the hospital goes on lock-down, all of the doors lock, all of the elevators stop working, and the alarms blair. The front desk is also alerted, which puts the entire hospital on lockdown as well.

It's pretty cool if you ask me. Can't be too safe these days with people trying to rustle off your young-uns and all, ya know?

It's actually the other way around beleive it or not... That's why you can hear a baby crying over the top of a really noisy room even if the cry isn't as loud as the rest of the noise!

Small set back, the baby has to stay overnight at the hospital but the wife has been discharged. Turns out the baby has a condition known as Bilirubin, which is a type of jaundice. She is otherwise healthy and strong as an ox (doc's words) but the Bilirubin needs to be treated with photo-therapy - basically she is in a tanning bed for the night. So she is still in the maternity ward putting on a light show for the other kiddies.

If the treatment overnight brings the numbers down into range (they were at 15, but should be at about 11) then we can take her home in the morning. This is screwing up breast feeding and my wife is pretty upset, but all in all everyone is ok.

We called last night to check the 7pm test results and the numbers have started to come down. The condition is not severe and is very common so aside from my wife being upset about having to leave her there everything is looking ok (/me crosses fingers). We are going over there now so the wife can continue breast feeding naturally and hopefully the numbers are down enough for Jessie to be discharged, and come home

Bad news, can't come home again today either My wife is distraught but I have been keeping her sane and smiling. The numbers have come down to 13.7, at that pace by tomr morning she should be in the 11-12 range where the doc can release her - hopefully.

CR - My sister had 2 babies that were 8 weeks premature. We nearly lost both of them due to being so early(and doctors incompetance). Now they are both healthy(apart from some mental issues).

I know what its like to be anxious like you must be. I hope it all goes well.
