thanks everyone. I really appreciate the encouragement. The level design is at a stand still as I'm having to write my own AI. I'm fed up of enemies just staring at you like morons, like they tend to do with the stock AI.

Im also workin on the textures for Higgins model pack. It's lookin pretty good. Should be a useful product. Im getting back to the level making on monday, so expect some new screenies soon.

I'm thinking of releasing a 1 level beta demo. Does anyone know how I can convert the entire built game to an .exe so that my custom files won't be stealable?

Im gonna release a pack of all the custom stuff once the project is complete, but I'd rather it wasnt available until after the Beta.

also finally, does anyone have any explosion decals? I could really do with some... long shot I know.

Anyway. Spesh thanks to Hi! for bumping this post, and cheers to everyone for the support, I'll show my gratitude with a demo in early may.

@creator of zombies
Thats mine. Most of the segments in it are mine. (and the city segment pack is used for the background buildings.)

I can maybe upload the segment later. Im at work at the mo. what time will you be around?

@Hi!
ok. To be honest I'm so far from having a final product I haven't really considered pricing and all that! I might release a shareware, Im not really sure.
we'll have to see which direction the wind blows!!

I'll try and get it zipped and uploaded then. I'll probably put it as a separate post in the models/media section. so look out for it...5hit that means I'm gonna have to face the nightmare of finding the relevant files. my file structure is so messy.

@Hi!
Dude. I want people to play my game too,but please dont keep asking for it free. If I add up all the hours spent to far, it'd literally be weeks. So to be honest it'd be a bit gaga to release it free.
I dont wanna be rude to you, cuz I really appreciate the enthusiasm, and I will try and get somekind of free version for you younger paypal-less people, but the full game is gonna be pay to play (plus alot of the content+voice samples really are for an older audience)!

+++I started making this last night. It started off as a simple lowpoly VWEAP, for a swat team. Then I started Fking around and added arms. Im sorry about the edge of the jpeg, I cut 3 screenies together, that I'd taken in directX textureviewer, but I forgot to delet part of the border.oops

Probably tomorro.
It's only my second ever gun, and I'm really not happy with the arms. But i'll work on it and of course the community can have it when I'm done!

Spent the day making a quarry/construction level. It's a WIP and almost entirely custom/retextured media.I think it's looking pretty good! I never believed frame rates could go over 33fps, but this level is getting between 45 and 110fps! and it's like averaging at around 70. CRAZY!
anyway here they are...

About your framerate, maybe you accidently pressed 'x'. When you press 'x' in test game it boosts up framerate.

Level looks great, BTW!

But if level has framerate like 29 normally, pressing 'x' boosts it up to something like 50-75 fps.

Uh guys can we keep this on track.

I dont wanna be rude but...

Lets discuss framerates somewhere else, Cheers Nigezu for explaining the x thing. it's well useful.

But thats all I really needed to know. It's selfish, but this is a thread about my game...not about framerates.
sorry to b1tch. Cheers

That made me feel good seeing him in a screen shot

This is exceptional work butterfingers. I think you are setting a good standard for fpsc games with your level design and originality. I hope to see a lot more from you. How long have you been making games? You really have talent.

Cheers bro. Not long man. Used to play around with clickteam's multimedia fusion, made a quake mod back in the day. Really ignored computer games for ages, made music,and only got back into it recently (one of my housemates is a programmer).

To be honest Criminal Underworld is at a standstill. The map editor is annoying me to tears, with custom segments always coming out glitchy, and the fact you make a wicked map, and the enemies either slow the framerate to like 20, or if not they stand around like retards not shooting.
Still. I'll battle on!!

Thanks for the encouragement dennis, I might just got back and have another crack at it!

Butters, I understand all the problems you are having, particulary with AI. I spend lots of time trying to tweak the AI to perfection. Well maybe not perfection, FPSC AI just sucks.

Nice looking sreenshots, really like the MP5.
