@ ButterFingers:

Great work, may I suggest changing your gun bmp at the top right corner of your game to a .png file ? (If you haven't) It doesnt look so professional like the rest of the game, changing it to a .png file with the background black (in the image file itself) this will make the background transparent in the game.

Hope this helps.

if that were a doom level id jump in the dumpster to search for ammo, and then realise a zombie is shooting at me so i shoot back, then i realise loads of imps r on top of the buildings sniping me, and that would be very bad...

so...hmmm....i think u should use hi res textures. and the building right from the uncle sam sign doesnt look like a building. try to use some other textures at the sides and maybe build it a little bit higher. A Roof would also be nice.
And one more suggestion. Why dont you use transparent decals for the graffiti ? looks kinda strange ...well...its a square.
nonetheless...

yeah...thats the ticket !

well thanks for the critique, flowerkohl. you're right that building does look a bit rubbish, will remake in the final version.I could have used transparent decals for graffiti, but i didn't. cheers anyway

again if anyone can help with getting an entity to play an explosion decal when it spawns would be helpful!!!
Explosions seem to be really buggy....

ok, i realise that for alot people reading this the two downloadable scripts will seem obvious. But Im sure there are a few out there who would really appreciate the help

The scripts are...

PLRINZONEACTIVATEONCE.FPI
and
SOUNDINZONEONCE

copy them into your scriptbank (duh)

the first script can be used as the main FPI for a triggerzone. It means that if make the trigger zone spawns a loada baddies and plays a sound, it will only do it the FIRST time the player enters the zone.

The second script is used as the main FPI for a sound zone, and means it will only play the sound once, the first time a player enters the zone (no more using invisible entities)

Anyway, they're free, hope someone finds them useful.

I just got this working in my game, and because its a sunny day, I thought I'd share.
aww.
I know some people get confused about what the numbers in the gunspec folder mean. I had a play, and realised that gun type, only effects the way that a hostile entity holds their weapon... so here for everyone, is the stock commando assault rifle, but now, enemies fire from the hip. (looks cool)

ok...mozilla doesn't like me.. i keep getting "document contains no data, so im gonna upload it to my freewebs site:

Cheers Ali. I've had to take a break for a bit, cuz I've had alot of other commitments, but fear not. More coming soon! I'm gradually adding useful bits and bobs to my website. (code, models, textures etc) Pretty much anything I've made during Criminal Underworld that I dont mind sharing. So check it out, hope it helps!!

The game has lots of eye candy but what about custom scripts? A game needs both to be really good.

@sunrise. I think it will run ok on most PCs, I've playtested some bits on my house mates p2 with 512mb ram and it got like 25-30FPS.

@Antimatter games. Don't worry yourself dude. Ive been hard at work on the eyecandy AND the stuff you can't see. I'd say 90% of the scripts are custom so far (or the stock scripts tweaked to be more effective).

I endeavor to make it feel quite filmic. I guess my vision is to make a Max Payne style game in FPS without bullet time!!

I think he means the 'banana clip'that should be there, although you probably wouldn't be able to animate putting a new clip on at reload time (i mean the game engine, not your animation skills )

Looks very good anyway!

the banana clip is there! it's just outta sight, And it will be animated, but for the moment, I've had other things to do. I'll do that once I'm further through worldbuilding. It's kicking around 4 levels, each about 60-70% complete.

Once again, thankyou to everyone for the support and comments/criticisms. It's really helpful.

dude! the demo will be free. but after all the hours and hours of work, I'd be kidding myself if I did it free.

Anyway don't worry, it's a long way from finished, and I want to try and release it to as many people as possible, so I'll work something out!

Nope, nothing from MAgicFPS dude, so sorry, you can't!

@NIK
Look forward to the mail bro, and price is undecided. Lets say it'll definately be affordable. I might release a more expensive version, with all the custom media available. I don't know.

@Nigezu
Fear not dude, there will be a beta, but again I'm not releasing until it's ready. Early May at the earliest.
