Was it too hard to host all your banners somewhere and show them within a single post?

There's a lot good banners on here from people.

Well, I just saw this thread and considering I had 15 minutes before the 25th was over for me, here's my quick cheezy entry.

Off site hosting can be unreliable, I dunno about noob, but I'd rather have them hosted by the compo runner than by another site. Another site, if it goes down is your responsibility, if TGC forums go down on the other hand it's something that can be argued for by the contenstance.

Sorry noob but the deadline was the 25th. I cannot include any banners submitted after that time. All banners have now been collected, I will pick the short list later today, and then we'll get them onto the voting site.

Who's June 25th?
My june 25th in the USA or your June 25th in the UK?
Thats about a 3 hour time difference...

Edit: 5 hour difference...
With this edit: Its 10:28 AM here, and an amazing 3:28 in the UK.
Have a good morning, i mean afternoon...
Edit 3: My first 3 entries got in the UK end of the contest..

Sorry, but your 10:39 minutes late...or if in UK time your 15:39 minutes late...however should you have lived in hawaii, then you would have only been 4:39 minutes late

Some quick handy tips for when the voting comes live...

Try to see how the banner will look in place. Some look amazing on their own but don't look right when on the forum page.

Is it more of an advertising banner than an identifying/background banner?

Look at the colour scheme used. Does it fit with the blues/greys/whites of the forum or does it stick out like a sore thumb? Of course, some contrast can be a good thing but it should at least try to look like part of the design.

In this case, the banner should probably not be the most prominent thing on the screen (unlike when creating advertising banners). It should be a nice addition to finish off the header of the page and not something distracting.

Personally, I think the over use of plugins, stock photography and clipart should be frowned upon - but thats just personal opinion

Good luck everyone.

That's a tough one, you can select your own forum colour scheme.

With this forum, Id choose Greys and whites and blacks.. all the the grayscale... because that fits with most of the schemes ...also a bit of color with grey scale surroundings looks cool

I've got the orange colour scheme in my forum preferences. Not sure why, usually I hate orange.

Interesting tips from Zappo on the voting stage. It'll be interesting to see how it all works (I wasn't on the forums for the last one).

Again, good luck to everyone.

It defaults to orange after changing something twice.

The list has been written it just takes time to put up, he did say he was aiming for the release of the next newsletter, but give him a break I'm sure he's got more importnat things going then a banner compo.
