There is the problem. You did not specify when you made the rules up if the texture had to be hand made or if it was just the model itself.
My understanding is that the model would be judged not the texture, animation, functionality, etc.
Of course then you should have said you wanted the models untextured.
However,Crow already withdrew from the contest and posted his entry here for all to download so if using any texture were allowed he would have to make another weapon.
And since the other people who are submitting entries made them by hand it would be unfair to them to allow non-self made textures.
You could say you wanted them untextured now but then a lot of time and energy has been wasted in texturing weapons and that isn't fair either.
It looks like somebody is gonna get screwed no matter what is decided so what I am going to do is read through this thread again and consult the other judges and hopefully make a decision that is as fair as possible to everyone...
In other words,I don't know yet.

Here goes:
Since there was no official rule that stated that textures have to be made by the person entering the contest we are going to allow people to use textures that they got from Google, etc.
I apologize to everyone for the confusion.

Here we see "Crazy Colonel", part time mercenary, and when the checks slow down, part time slightly used light mech salesman.

Quote: ""Would ya look at these babies...Powerful enough to do the job right and accurate enough to knock spikes off a conker's face mask""

Quote: "" You, like the other marines can proudly proclaim that your "Delivering the Huge Load" in this lil cream puff that was only driven to church once a week by a lil lady after its service was done.""

Quote: ""Spacious as all be...and everything works...well...this light will if ya hit the console a few times...but thats nothing.""

And though I disagreed with Fred and Eureka inclusion of pictures its their contest. It doesn't say specifically models have to made by you either...but I kinda figured that was part of "All".

Heres a look at how things were made on this and a tutorial for the hard surface painting can be found at:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=373024

Theres a download and installer at the bottom of this post. Use it if you'd like. Its completely ready. It's 1444 tris/faces/polys. The only thing I didn't do was make up an ammo box for missiles. I was going to make the missiles ammo box a gun with hud from the mech but I'm kinda over this. If you do it like I was going to you'd be able to switch between guns and missiles and it would look like the same mech. Heres an ingame shot with the boxes of ammo.

Well good luck to all. By the way. This was made ingame with "Weapon Creator" available soon at http://wc.out-lawz.com

With only 6 days left in this contest it's my first visit back to this forum in quite a few days. Is there any placers or is this a winner takes all kinda contest. re-read rules and didnt see anything but the prizes.

If there are placers are the winners notified by email or do they have to post at this or the Ozark forum? Kinda busy looking at other engines at the moment so not sure I'd be back around before this is over.

And again good luck to the entries.

Well,I cared and I went to a lot of trouble to make models for the model pack I am giving away as a prize.I am still making some models for it.
I still don't see why more people don't enter contests around here.
Winning stuff is cool.

there were too many things going on at once. I wanted to enter, but I'm helping Higgins with his level design contest thing, and my own project.

How long is left I might still enter!

The Killer Knife!!!

Use this weapon to clash your opponent into pieces!!!
Idea is a bit based on the Skaarj claws from UT2k4.

The texture is crap To bad I don't have Photoshop on the computer I'm on now (I'm on vacation and managed to get some time for this weapon)

Hope you like it.

Model: .X - 221 KB
Texture: .BMP - 48 KB

Edit: OOPS forgot to attach

EDIT:::::
This one does no longer apply for the contest, instead of it, the one from the third page on this thread will be used

Here is my Thompson WIP. I just have to UV map it and texture it. I dont know if I will finish it in time, but oh well. BTW, the shading on the bottom of the cylinder clip is a little too dark, wont be like that once it is done(I hope).

In the rules it says models must be textured, but it doesn't matter, something cleared up in my schedule today, so I already UV mapped it, working on the texture now.

Here is my final entry. The reason the skin is not very detailed is because Gimp was giving me a problem and I couldn't fix it. So here is my Thompson machine gun. Render, then zip.

P.S-Can I just enter it here or do I have to do it at the other forum

Starmaart, your picture doesn't work. Could you just attach it as a .jpg or .png file, because I would like to take a look at it without downloading the model.

It's so friggin' weird. Well, the link is http://starmaart.741.com/KKA.jpg

If you go there, and than back it works.. But you can just see it at that link (Very weird, maybe my website doesn't allow it?)

EDIT:

That doesn't really work too... Here is the attachment (FIle was in JPG all the time)

See, that was worth it. Very good for a first weapon model. My first weapon model was bad, very bad texture job, too.
