Recently I have been trying to bump up my portfolio of textures, I have also been exploring the fine Texture Maker program, trying to see what it can really do. I thought that I would kill two birds with one stone and help out the community at the same time.

Challenge Wehtam is simple, I will make your texture requests. My limit is 512 x 512 and the rule is that I can only use the Texture Maker, I can not use Photoshop or Photographs. The time it takes to complete a texture will vary, completed textures will be attached to my posts as jpegs. I will try my hand at anything, from industry and technology to biological and natural. Ladies and gentlemen, start your requests.

- 1 request per post
- No double request posts
- Textures can be used for commercial projects

On a side note, is there a way to attach multiple files to one post ?

That's a really nice tile, Wehtam, nice work. - great idea for a post.

My suggestion would be a similar tile, with lots of dirt on it, but this time, atop of a marble effect.

Sorry but as the rules state, one texture per post. Animated textures are many individual textures, and they need to be posted as jpg.

I hope this is what you meant by that, it is attached.

Well a smeared effect would be quite difficult to achieve on one texture, ideally you would use a decal for that, however I am willing to offer an attempt. I also have the texture minus the blood, if you wish. The bloody version is attached.

@ wehtam:

Texture Maker has a function which lets you make animated textures (single frames)

you only have to make ONE texture, then only configure the animation recorder (or how it's called) with the right animation plugin and start it

i made my animated textures with Texture Maker, too

Yes I know, but this thread caters for non-animated textures.

no offense, but i dont think texture maker will go far on your portfolio, providing that it generates the texture, rather than one composing it, to show technique and detailing.

though this should be a nifty little thread if you ask me, good luck, and good luck with your portfolio aswell!

How about a seanless grass texture that has little patches of dirt, but when tiled, it wouldn't look obvious.

I went for something a little different, with a shiny/brushed appearence. Bump map wise, do you mean the monochrome height map or those oddly coloured textures used my FPSC and Unreal, I'm afraid I have no idea how those are generated. Anyways, the texture is attached.

I don't mean portfolio as in, a portfolio to show an employer ( I would use my illustrations and sketchwork for that ) i mean a type of texture library. I started texturing when I got into UnrealED and there is always a need for new textures when mapping, I'm hoping i could offer some of these textures to the UnrealED community.

For those that have UT2004, check out one of my Maps

thats a beautiful UT2K4 map, kudos to you on that one

i wanted to get into UnrealEd back a while ago, seems like such a nice editor, and a great game to mod, even if it is slightly "outdated" it has some amazing (and large) levels

sorry, went a bit off topic...

ah right, texture library, always a good thing for reference and quick overlays n' such, good idea

Well. That's about exactly spot-on utterly what I meant. Very very nice and thank you very much.

As far as the "Challenge Wetham" challenge goes, I'll happily admit utter and crushing defeat. =)

you know, i was actually thinking the same thing, have a go at some worn stucco walls with old wooden beams, now that would be damn nice

p.s) that map has encouraged me to get into level design a bit more, I have UnrealEd, and i love outdoor environments, so im wondering whether to use CryEngine SandBox, but ive had a little experience in UnrealED so i'll probably go for that...

thanks for the inspiration

yummy! it's attched I am doing these in order by the way.

This is exactly what I want, i think my first post is tad misleading, I don't want people to think of amazingly impossible textures in the attmept to make me cry, i want your requests to be because you need the texture, or may need it
