I've been working hard on a new game called Puzzled. The plot is similar to the movie SAW. I recently finished the first level and would like some honest reviews.
Please keep in mind that I already know that I need to invest in some new wall/floor textures. But I would like to know what you all think of the game play, script work, and presentation.

Constructive criticism is welcome.

This is the same level I submitted for the October contest so to limit the usage of bandwidth, I will only give the download link to the first Ten people to email me at Email Removed.

Four people have played my level. So far, no comments...
Are you "Puzzled?" I wanted it to be challenging, but I hope it's not too hard.

Okay, Higgins make 5! Anyone else?!

This is why I like to have others test my levels, so I can gage the difficulty before a final release. When I play my own levels, I know what to do and there's no surprises. I sent you a reply silent.

Would it help if I gave more time to solve the puzzles?

I am still playing with the level and I will post as soon as I can.
I would have already posted but I have been ill.
I should have something for you shortly.

Edit:Nice level.
Enjoyed the atmosphere.Puzzles are hard and innovative.
With a little work this could shape up to be an excellent project.
Just be sure to include some kind of stategy guide for dummies like me that can't figure things out.

Nue B, I played the level and I thought it was pretty good. I couldnt finish it and its driving me mad. Ive tried almost every thing. When I got the gun, I tried shooting the dead guy under the stairs to try and get his head, as it says "a head for the door", no luck there. Then I saw a key on top of the shelf by the gun, couldnt get it, I tried shooting it, nothing. I also tried shooting eveyr thing else that looked like it would hide some thing, but nothing broke.

Can you give me a clue?

I agree. However, with a ten minute time limit I thought I should keep the first level small. A lot of people take about eight minutes to get out of the room.

"damage from the bullets won't be enough. Every things isn't static, so pick some things up."

Quote: ""a head for the door""

sorry for my bad acting, but I actually just said Head for the door. By which I was implying a trade. If you can't take the door off; the electric collar takes off your head.

Yes, this key is a dynamic prop. I only used it to attach a script to it. If you don't open the laptop, it wont be there.

So is the key useless then?

--

Just completed it, but I guess you didn't know this, Nue B, but the further you are from a dynamic entity, the less damage the weapon does.

Maybe thats why it never worked in the first place for me

Yes, I knew that. And I hoped the plr would figure it out at some point.

Quote: "..is the key useless then?"

No, as I said above I used it to attach a script. It's dynamic, but can't be collected.

Quote: "1. very good puzzle design. One of the best I have played ( I tried it 3 times and failed, so it must be good )
2. nicely done sounds and good use of textures
3. very innovative use of timers (I didnt even know they worked that well! I always seem to have problems with them)

Suggestions:
1. some more clues would work towards helping the player. Considering I have average brains (), you wouldn't want a player to keep trying a number of times and keep failing.
2. You know what the ammo is for. The player doesnt know that. And there are too many objects to try shooting at. In all my tries, I used up my ammo trying to shoot different things. So maybe keep more ammo? (or respawn it after sometime?) Or hint at what needs to be shot (if at all)

Request:
1. I noticed that the light in the key room has a decal/overlay or something on it which makes it look very real. (something like what butters has done in his FOTF). Can you explain to me how is it done? Thanks
2. Any clues or hints for me to try solving the puzzle?

-filya"
