hehe Zavix, nah I am just messin with ya. The screenies do look decent, but I think they are right in saying that using FPSC would allow you to spread your wings a bit. It would add a bit to the gameplay and uniqueness (if you spend a little time on it)

Quit planning to make a game and make a game.

Zavix, your game inspired me to make a special soundtrack for it.
If you like the song, you may use it for any purposes

EDIT: for those who like the songtext - here you go:
"Whuff whuff whuff whuff whuff whuff whuff whuff [PAUSE] Mooo, mooo, mooo"

Alquerian - that was obnoxious. It didn't seem like 'just messin with ya'. It was very rude.

Zavix, I just played your game and it was good. When the first monster came out, it was pretty surprising. I like that. Good job. I have some suggestions though:

*Make the level design more interesting instead of just a bunch of hallways with a few obstacles.

*Don't bunch up potions that much. The player should have to search for them. Or, you could add a different kind of potion that restores 5x as much health as the normal potion.

*Make the bullets wider. I don't know why, but the current bullets bother me. They are too thin and small.

*At one point in the game, in one hallway, there was two hallways that went into a dungeon type tunnel, but ended in dead ends. I suggest you fill these areas with monsters, potions, and other surprises.

*Make the setting change every once in a while. For example, be fighting in the hallways for a while, and then start fighting in a dungeon, and then into hell itself. It gets kind of boring with the same scenery after a while.

*Those drum things you come across every once in a while, don't really fit in. Try to find something that's creepy (like those statue things) and use them more often and better.

*Don't boast that your game is the coolest game or whatever, its annoying.

Good luck!

well, I tried to have barbed wire and headstones in it, but for some reason, all the obsticles were nothing but drums.

strangest thing I ever saw

----------------------------------------------------------------------

about the ideas:

make the setting change:
good idea. I could use the scene creator to make such a scene.
idea accepted

bullets
I made them 58 in length and 12 in width. but I guess I could fix that
accepted

potions
in order to make it so that it's not too hard, the potions need to be multiple. of course I could scatter some other pickups
accepted

boasting
I didn't do that. it's just that nobody's ever seen T3DGM so expertly used.
????

2-way hall
yeah. there could be an ambush waiting.
accepted

level design
I've done bigger levels so I guess I can tackle that

Hey, zavix, give up on this game, if you make it in T3DGM, you have to pay a $300 license to sell it. And who would buy it?! Unless you release it as freeware. If you continue to boast this as a project that you are proud of, you will be called a n00b in the future for this, even if you go on to create a great software company CEO, people will still call you a n00b for that game you made back in 2007. This may sound harsh and may sound like that I am being mean to you, but I am not. Even today, since 2004 I am called a n00b for ripping off an example in gamemaker, which was and is still better than anything that the people who call me a n00b have ever made. I was proud of my example rip off like you are of hell on earth, but for your own sake, let this project die and learn how to make better games, of course, you can still make the game and impress a few friends with it, who knows? Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this game will progress and turn into "Half-Life 3: Hell on Earth", maybe not. But if you really want to continue Hell on Earth as a commercial game or whatever, then learn darkbasic (Don't go near FPSC whatever you do) I wish you a great success on your future projects.

You should NEVER EVER say that kind of thing. It annoys people no matter how good your game is. This is a good game, but not the best made with T3DGM. It is an opinion, anyway, and different people have different opinions.

stevenup 7002 -

whoever said he has to sell it?

whoever said he is good enough at game making to Source SDK or other programming languages?

whoever said that you can take control of his life?

Quote: "I'd like to see YOU make a game with the Source SDK"

Yeah, and let's see YOU make a game with Source SDK when you just begin game making. So are you suggesting that he make a MMORPG or some massive game? Because that is pretty much what you are saying. He's learning how to get better at game making, so he can later on program games with Source SDK or more complex game makers.

Uhm. I am not called a n00b and I have done some pretty stupid things in my past. So has pretty much every one on this board. The only reason someone would be called a n00b for making a game like this is because of rude people like you. Just stay away from this board if you can't keep yourself from being that way.

Its not as if 3dgm is crap, just really if your serious about making games dont go near the thing. But for some great fun its good. I find it funner making the games then playing them.

Out of curiosity, why not FPSC? If somebody likes the experience they had with 3DGM, they should go the next step up and buy FPSC. I wouldn't hop right to DarkBasic.

FPSC sucks, plain and simple. I am trying to mod it to make it decent, but the source is completely lacking in organization skills.

I'm not arguing about that, I'm just saying it's better than 3DGM and easier than DarkBasic. It's the next step up from 3DGM.

while FPSC IS a cool system, I use it more for just playing around. same reason I use T3DGM most of the time.

But it's at times like this that I begin using my imagination to make the public happy. (like my family or anticipated forum members)

making this game won't make me a n00b, giving up on it will.

anyone who has rejections to that should just keep them to there self. It will avoid any fusses breaking out.

the AUP says no posting messages that start up arguments

--------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT
on a side-note, I'm back from Busch gardens. And I'm about to start working on the full version of the game. not sure when it will be ready

Reminiscent of Michelangelo...

Maybe we should lay off a little. Sure he's not great at making an image, but at least give him points for trying.

@zavix
Make sure you have enough of a game to actually make a WIP, from what I've seen, you don't. Only one screen shot of your game, maybe if you provide more, people will be less likely to flame.

hmmm...
do you have any experience with 3d modeling?
making a game with paint makes it look really low-budget, etc. and not many people will want to play it.
If it's going to be a 2d game with sprites, you can take pics of 3d models to use for the sprites, but 2d drawings are more for games created 20 years ago...

This is not a sig.

The picture is not a game.

It's a sprite comic.

I made lots of them. using sprites from different games. they're either funny, action-oriented, or they're just little picture things.

If I posted this, you would REALLY think it was a game

Anyway. back to the main topic.

Sorry for double post.

I still have to think of what to use for the mainloop music.

*stands in thought*

hmmm...

I could look online for a music track or maybe just make it using Midi maker

because I don't wanna use stock music.

I need to have something custom in order for people to know that this isn't all stock media.

My other games are stock media though

EDIT: I've decided to make an updated version of the title screen
I can just leave the name area blank.

Well. I lost everything on my com. plus with Space Wars coming out, Hell on Earth is still under the developing cover.

STILL not sure when it'll come out.

also, I saw you can add a movie sequence at the beginning of your game. I need to find an animation tool to make the beginning film

EDIT: check out this box cover.
PS: I just made this for fun. I'm selling the game as freeware

I found it at VG music archive.

I think it's Perfect

EDIT: I'm trying to get "the movies" so i can make a film out of this game. with it, I can make this whole into ALL-OUT WAR!!!!! rather than one robot fighting the legions of hell alone.

yes and no.... Midi is essentially a bunch of commands that tell a certain sound bank to play and whatnot, but there are ways to render the files... In my home studio I can take the GM bleeps and bloops and add high end sampled sounds to it... but since im assuming u don't have a $10,000 home studio look up audio compositor

Time maybe, patience only because of T3DGM's annoingly limited and buggy placement editor, its hardly level design at all, drag a few blocks here and there, specially since T3DGM comes with all the levels, and doesnt let you import.
