I wouldn't say that. I haven't got a Wii, but I've played my mates Wii for a 'serious amount of time'. So you can definitely from some kind of opinion even without owning a certain console

Rich, please for the love of God, READ THE ENTIRE ******* POST! If I had said

You do now Jeku, infact you know five since everyone in my family hates them
Yes then I could accept the content of your last post.

But I actually said

Quote: "everyone in my family hates them for their own reasons"

You hear that, THEIR OWN REASONS, get it through your extremely thick skull.

Quote: "Ok. So then you, and your family (as you stated above (but seemed to have some brain fart and forget about)) hates the PS3 but, wait for it, you don't even own one, so have never actually gamed on one for any serious amount of time.
"

WTF? You don't need to own one to see what a pile of crap it is!

Oh yeah, Richard Davey...I thought I saw that name on a loaf of bread yesterday, but when I looked again It actually said "THICK CUT"

True you do not need to own one, but you should have some amount of experience with something to develope a hate for it. I think had you said "my family took a look at the PS3 and thought it was not worth the price" or "it does not meet what we want or need in a console" or "I hate Sony in general as a company" people would not be all over you. stating simply that it is a "pile of crap" sounds like an opinion founded on ignorance not on personal experience. I have no desire to get a PS3, I personally think it is way overpriced and that the Wii is much more of what I want in a console.

The difference is that you live in a country where Wii's are actually on sale, so you could easily have played it around a friends house as there are so many of them out there.

The PS3 isn't out here yet, and won't be for months. So unless Evil Stars 'location' (and IP look-up) is some complex web of deceit (which let's face it isn't likely given his playground attitude) then he hasn't played on one at all, anywhere, let alone for a serious amount of time. Heck he even admitted as much above.

I'm not saying he isn't entitled to his own opinion, but to have it so senselessly grounded on no real experience with the console is just screams fanboy, in a weird sort of way. At least you played on the Wii properly before realising it wasn't for you. That's what normal, sane and rational people do.

If he'd actually bought one (which I mistakenly assumed based on the ferocity of his initial post), say on an impulse buy, which I can totally understand doing, then his hatred would have some actual value.

But it appears that isn't the case. Instead he and the rest of his kin "hates" the PS3, even though they haven't played one - but careful now, I best not forget that they ALL HAVE THEIR OWN REASONS! Because 5 baseless reasons are so much better than one

Sorry about the insults Rich, just a little, well, cheesed off about the events during a certain mid-winter festival, its actual meaning long since forgotten but...actually I'm not cheesed off, that was last week, today I finished the cheese an moved on to the coffee and cigars.

My views on the PS3 still being that I hate it and never will buy one but still I didn't have the evidence to put up an argument for any substancial amount of time. I guess I simple can't win against a mod... Oh that reminds me I am removing the mod badge as I write this sentence (well not literally) Errrr...the avatar feild appears to have dissapeared... this is because I didn't react in time isn't it, can I have it back please. I was unable to use our computer between my previous post and now. I just thought it might be fun because I saw nother user doing this a few months ago. I later realised that the other users avatar actually said "MOB" not "MOD"

I apolagise for my actions; the insults, the fanboy stuff and the Avatar issue. What more is their that I can do? Oh yeah the actual insult from the pre edit

"You are about as useful as the french edition of the book "How to speak French""

Sorry once again, back into the slime from whence I came, well not quite that far, maybe outside the door? Is that ok?

Yes, but high price does not automatically equal "piece of junk". I still don't understand. The last "piece of junk" console I saw was the Virtual Boy, and that was because it was giving people migraines. Even the Atari Jaguar, a fast machine in its day but with a lack of games, was not a "piece of junk".

My friend from work is trading his Xbox 360 for somebody's PS3, which I find hilarious. So much for Matt Rock's vision of PS3s being unattainable by human means

I mean, you can barely cross a gaming blog now without seeing pictures of boxes of PS3s in EBs on the floor, unsold. I'm sure that guy who paid $15k for his PS3 feels like a tool now.

Just caught this on Kotaku:

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/tekken-6/rumor-tekken-6-not-ps3-exclusive-225289.php

Rumor from a reliable source that Tekken 6 will come to 360.
Those console saving exclusives are falling away pretty fast...

From here it would appear it's only Final Fantasy left as a definite (AAA) exclusive. Mind you there are going to be three of them I think.

I don't think I'll believe DMC4 and MGS4 will be on 360 till I am holding the disc myself. The thing is, persistant rumors might be enough to stop people parting with $600.

That and common sense.

Also you guys are complaining about how expensive the ps3 is but it comes out to about the same price as a x-box 360. ok first off all ps3 comes with the wireless internet adapter built in, the same thing for 360 costs $100, ok also ps3 has a usable internet browser that is usable to surf the net, and i'm pretty sure that costs like 15- 20 bucks to upgrade. Ok this is the big price changer, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR ONLINE, over time thoose dollars add up and if i'm not mistaken it costs $50 per year. ok the x-box is $400 on best buy plus the $100 wireless adapter + $15 + 1 year of live cots $575! , and 360s are 12g and ps3 is 60!

But it's still incredibly unoriginal, and has a lack of interesting or even popular launch titles

I mean, what the hell are the launch titles? The only one I know properly of is FF

Don't need it. Next.

What, you have to pay 15-20 to upgrade your PS3 web browser? I don't understand. Why would you pay for a web browser on a console anyway?

Quote: "YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR ONLINE, over time thoose dollars add up and if i'm not mistaken it costs $50 per year."

Yes, you have to pay to *play* online with the 360, but the cost is nothing compared with what you get. The game's networks are all centralized and controlled by a single entity (MS), so they're generally more stable. The PS3 (and PS2) has an online solution where there's no centralized username, score tracking, etc. right? To me, paying $50 a year, total, to play all of the Live games is very cheap.

Quote: "360s are 12g and ps3 is 60!"

Actually the 360 has a 20GB hard drive, with about 12GB left over after the dashboard and all the updates, etc. Sure the dashboard takes up a LOT of space, but compared to the PS3's AWFUL minimalist look, again I'd take it. Plus, I've downloaded trailers, demos, Live Arcade games, etc. all the time since June and haven't used more than 2GBs of space. The 60GB hard drive is moot right now.

I'd have to say the PS3 is somewhat common in PA at the moment. My brother casually walked into a local Best Buy and picked one up. Didn't have to play spy and smuggle it to the car either. As mentioned earlier in the thread, stores are having a bit of a hard time selling them anymore.

Wii's are nowhere to be found though, sadly.

Quote: "What, you have to pay 15-20 to upgrade your PS3 web browser? I don't understand. Why would you pay for a web browser on a console anyway?"

The web browser in the PS3 is rubbish. The console locks up every time my brother even uses it to go to Google something.

I am trying to find a Wii, because I actually have the money for once. I saw a PS3 at wal-mart today, but no Wii. I already bought the component cable for the Wii though. I saw one at a game store and snagged it because I haven't found one anywhere else. I can't handle a composite video signal on a 100" projection screen

You get what you pay for.
I have a PS2 and an XBox.
PS2 online is free but you have to pay for XBox Live.
PS2 online gets whipped by XBox Live.
I don't have the next gen stuff yet but i am thinking not much has changed.
And you are welcome to think that all of that free online service is gong to stay free.
Sooner or later they all will charge for it.

Yes, exactly. Companies are in the business to make money. If you buy a game for $50 and expect to play online for free forever, good luck with that mindset The companies have to keep hundreds, if not thousands of servers online 24/7, and they will not do that if they don't have money coming in.

I mean, EA started putting in-game ads in BF2142 because it's basically a free, forever online game. It just doesn't make business sense to keep them on forever without a secondary source of income.

From what my dad said, Wii's were very hard to get. I for one am happy with it, and several members of my family (uncle, grandmother) actually had a blast with it. So I guess Nintendo's console is really entertaining for everyone. Let's wait in a few month's and see if the PS3 prices drop... and some good games come out...

That's because they put that Betamax...er,Blu-Ray drive in the PS3.
The question that just popped into my head is...
Why didn't they make a PS3 without the Blu-Ray?

I think it's Sony's way of trying to win the format wars against HD-DVD. It would be the equivalent of including a Betamax drive with every cassette tape player, to get it into more living rooms.

The 360 isn't that original, but I think nobody ever gave the first Xbox enough credit. I mean, it didn't take long for the PS2 to turn itself into an Xbox, what with the online and HD.

Those two are basically standards now.

Yep, I'm selling my Xbox and; two controllers, a steering wheel, all the wires needed and 10 - 12 games. Hoping to get about anywhere between £50 and £70. That money will be the first amount to go towards my 360. Once I have £100 my parents will buy it, I pay my first £100 and pay it off over a year, it's gonna take a while but I'll be happy!

My friend wants a PS3, and I told him he was stupid (not quite those words but...) and I also said that it was like buying a $600 supercomputer that can't even run notepad, let alone Microsoft Word. What kind of thing is that? No notepad? - I'll buy a real supercomputer before I get that...

I might just have this thing aginst sony, I don't know, or care...
