I know he changed his name to Aikicat awhile back, but shortly after that he seemed to have disappeared almost completely. Just was curious where he went. I sorta miss his cynical attitude at the forums

Perhaps he got neutered, I know the last thing I would want to do afterwards is read the forums.

He's been really busy lately, trying to stay focused for school finals I believe. I talked to him about a week back.

At first he was funny, but later I found his comments to be a little rude! Maybe I just took them the wrong way? Anyway I was wondering the same!

No.

I do like the kid, he tried too hard at humor, making him unfunny.
Hey Mega, Jimmy called, he wants his personality back!

Eh, I thought Meg was funny, even though it was usually me he was picking on lol. I never took anything personally, from him or (almost) anyone else.

Corr, we're all sitting him talking about him as though he was dead Well I think he had a sense of humour, a bit out of place sometimes and often presented to people in a way that caused him to be misunderstood and sometimes he did say stupid and do stupid things, but occasionally knew when to stop. So really he was just a normal human being. I think sometimes people (included me at times) took him too seriously, I don't think any of his comments were really meant to be serious, but some people interpreted them that way, being the internet and all, from that I know never to take anybody seriously on the internet.

I really don't know why so many people have it in for Megathon. The few times I exchanged posts with him, or saw his threads, he seemed to be a pretty likeable young guy.

I spoke to Mattman last night
he is well

Jimmy went to boot camp, then came back for like a second not too long ago. I dont know if he's shipped out to Iraq now but most likely he has.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say Hi after this was brought to my attention by Saikoro. I haven't done any programming in maybe a year now, just haven't had the time between school, football, wrestling, music, and girls. I hear Rich is leaving, I was very sad to hear that. Best of wishes to him!

Good luck Apollo,
Matt

how about that wiggett guy, what was with the pirates! i mean every post he made he'd have the pirate emote at the end of it. I love that guy's humour. we should all remember him and give him praise and worship him. either that or herme's, he was cool.

Megaton was tragically slain in the great battle between the noobs and the ANJL. His memory shall live on in a statue that will be erected at the bottom of The Game Creators forum.

Which is where I shoot you down, as DBP is definitely NOT a "real-time strategy game programming language", but rather a "multi-purpose game programming language".

[Edit]: Then again, if it was an RTS language, it'd explain why most of the n00bs never manage to create anything as their all making (MMO)RPGs *cough*

Mega and I still speak(is my partner in crime, after all). He's taking a long break from modeling and is focused on school (college level) and work. I'll send him the link to this thread and he can opt to reply. If he doesnt, only means he's that focused on his goals.

Thanks x1b for pointing me towards the thread.

I left because of the general negative and otherwise pissy pants attitude on the forums, as well as some poor moderating by several mods. And understand that I'm not bashing any mods from the position of a newcomer who got slapped right away and is now sniffling to get his posting privileges back. I joined and posted regularly since I was a whiny 13 year old with a fresh copy of DB, and I've seen the gradual decline of the forums and the mods, as well as the departure of several regulars. I realize I posted some things that probably shouldn't have posted, but hey, that's just how I developed.

Many people seemed to forget this was after all an internet forum, and I was thoroughly disturbed at the large number of people here losing grip on reality.

As for latest happenings, I've finished high school and currently in the process of finding full-time work while still training 6 days a week. I'll be starting college in September and moving out into the city. For any regulars here that I used to keep contact with who still care, you can check out my college portfolio and myspace.

For everyone else, I guess it's sayonara. As I said earlier, I was in no way a good example of a good forum member in the past, but a ton of you seem to be perfectly content with sitting behind your monitor, typing out whatever crap you want, and generally never meeting any girls. I didn't really have much time for online stuff as I was in a relationship for a few months that has now crashed and burned, but even after that I have no current plans to return.

Too many people here just needed to take a chill pill (or the equivalent of cat nip, as for me) and to think through what was important to them. If you place a programming forum somewhere high on that mental list, then you have a social problem. (Especially if you find you're angered by an internet forum on a regular baisis)

As usual, this post is going to be met with the generic bitchan' and self-superiority replies. Well beh, have your lawyers contact my team of endangered wildcats and we'll figure something out the good old fashioned capitalist way. Right now I got a student loan to worry about.

Good luck with everyone's projects too.

Amen. I can't get sie b*tches since I left uni. Computing is the sahara desert for girls. I will never meet another one until I become an international porn star again, and I fear since the mincing machine accident, that career is long gone.

My new plan is single mothers. They'll take anyone (just look at the BT home hub adverts).

Good luck in the real world megs.

Edit: For the record, I find the forum is the best its ever been in terms of low-flaming and general maturity. It might just be the way I use the forums these days, so I dont notice the problems so much, but I remember it being much worse in the past.

Sorry you feel that way Aiki Cat, at first I did make the mistake of misinterpreting you, but hey its an internet forum, you'd be a fool to be serious, hence the nature of a lot of my confusing posts.

In not taking people seriously, ruling out all of the immaturities, I find I can stay, remembering my old threads trying to get people to 'chill out' but being on fire doing it. I find, that there are a lot of decent members on here that hide away, although some may make their odd 'bad' post, but by thinking the positive, I saw the positive and learnt to live with the stupidities on here and sometimes find them amusing. I have had members/ex-members/first time lookers say how immature people are here and turned away. But I learnt to live with some of these immaturities, because I wanted a DBP community to fall back on and enjoy talking to a lot of the members I do talk to

Well, I've got your myspace if I do have the strange urge to preach my wannabe samurai ways and post my sword against your claws. A scary thought, so I'd make sure your mouse is hovering over delete user, or your going to be screwed.

Quote: "this post is going to be met with the generic bitchan' and self-superiority replies."

Doubt it, well mostly, I know there are those that do agree with you, some actually labelling you as one of their problems here, although I guess to be misunderstood. Well see ya around, just don't pee on the rug as you leave, good luck with university and future projects.

As far as I can tell, noobs atm are few and far in between, with not many regulars.

Farewell Aiki Cat, the forum will be (and has been) less interesting with you gone.

I think it's important that we remember while this is a great way to keep in touch with other programmers, it's not a replacement for a social life, as has been said. [Goes back to working]

Well, yeah. You can usually tell how social a person is being by how little time they spend posting (for instance, this afternoon I've been fairly asocial, and have been modeling and drawing. When I pause from those, I've posted here).

This is definitely a community, and thus being part of it is social. However, it's a far cry from meeting people face to face, and really knowing them as a person.

Not really. Most of my posting is when I'm at work and I'm doing things on the computer anyway. Many people work from their PCs.
